Subject: New anime MADNESS!

Well, new stuff to me anyways.

Finally got my copy of Love Hina Vol 1 the other day. This is gonna be a really fun series. It's a great change of pace from the space and monsters stuff I've been gravitating toward lately. Yes... the dub is bad. And innacurate, as I feared. In the scene in the first episode when Naru thinks Keitaro is Kitsune and snuggles up to him in the hot springs, in the sub she says "My breasts have gotten much bigger lately" while in the dub she says "What're you doing all the way over there?". Guh. There's some other stuff too of course, but that's the one that really stuck out to me. I've only watched the first ep in both sub and dub, but I think it's pretty safe to assume the rest of the episodes probably have lame changes in the dub too. And then of course there's Kitsunes accent. Why they thought a Japanese character should have a southern accent is a mystery to me. And a REALLY bad one at that. Anyways, fun series. Just avoid the dub.

Soul Taker is quickly becoming one of my favorites. Vol 2 is as flashy as the first, but in episodes 4 and 5 we finally start to get some info about the characters and plot. Still, I mainly like the ultra stylish visuals. Probably not for everyone, though. Only two more dvds left. Short series. A spin off series is apparently in the works for the nurse girl whose name escapes me at the moment.

La Blue Girl Returns. Those assheads!!! I wanted Kiki's Delivery Service, but they gave me this instead! Gwaaaahh!

The most interesting thing is the commentary track (yes, commentary track on anime, HENTAI no less) from the creator of the manga and the director or producer (i think he was one of those, can't quite remember right now) in which they talk about just about everything from anime to disney to manga to american comics. They were watching it without a mosaic for the first time and seemed a little shocked by it. I couldn't help but laugh when they were discussing Snow White while Miko was taking a whiz...

I should also mention it's not censored. The version of the original series availible in the US had any scene involving nin-nin (the crappy little ninja guy) in nudity or sexual situations cut. Not in the new one.
