Subject: a note on Metropolis
In reply to: D1 's message, "Can it be? It is! MORE new anime madness!" on 00:03:43 05/11/02 Sat

remember that this is one of the progenitors of EVERYTHING. saying Metropolis seems familiar is like fantasy fans who say Lord of the Rings is too cliched.

the Metropolis manga was done by Tezuka in like the 50s. this is THE don't let technology get out of control story. all other anime like that, manga, whatever, those people read this.

it wouldn't have been a very good movie, if it was so damn beautiful.

of course, it's probably much cooler on the big screen. ;)

watch the very end of the credits: I don't know if they kept it on the dvd, but the print we got at my theatre had a little easter egg that's pretty damn cool.
