I HAVE A 6 MONTH OLD COCKER SPANIEL.I HAVE ONLY HAD HER FOR ABOUT 2 MONTHS.THE PAST WEEK IVE NOTICED THAT HER NIPPLES SEEM TO BE GETTING BIGGER.SHE LAYS AROUND AND PANTS ALL THE TIME.SHE ONLY GOES OUT TO POTTY.I DO HAVE AN OUTDOOR MALE DOG.THIS IS MY FIRST FEMALE DOG .I REALLY DONT KNOW WHAT TO EXPECT.ANY INFO WOULD BE APPRECIATED.THANKS

There are several ways to tell. One you should be able to see her getting a little more rounded in the lower stomach area. Two Her teets will be looking like they are getting fuller. Three the longer she is along the more you will be able to feel puppies moving.
As for the other person....MISTAKES happens.

Yeah you need to shut up. I have a dog and she got pregnant. A couple months later her puppy got pregnant. I know I may not spell things right or say it right is because I'm still in school. I agree with the other people.

I had a lab that was an outside dog and she got pregnant and so how the hell was i going to stop it. There is no way i didnt know the male came around. Actually you are wrong, dogs can go into heat and get pregnant as young as 5 to 6 months. So do some research or talk to a Vet. before going off on others...Just saying. I have had a dog get pregnant at get pregnant at 6 months and I had a male impregnate a dog at 5 months, so stop bad mouthing people.

Unlike anyone else posting replies to your question you can tell if your neighbors dogs belly is bigger, they begin to dig holes, and a few days before birth their nipples begin producing milk for better info you should go on google or ask.com its really helpful.. and for the person who said rude things to the person who asked this question you really need some anger management or some drugs cause yo ass is crazy and stupid and to waste your time insulting an innocent persons question whom you have never met makes you more of a loser than anyone can imagine. Hello, Well the best way that you could tell is by watching her action. Like for instances is her eating habit the same or is she eating more or less. Watch and see if she is playful or looking for comfort. I know sometimes it is hard to tell but it is really noticeable. Good Luck

you will be able to tell in weeks to follow look for signs of the dog eating grass, or morning sickness, her attitude may change, she may be wanting to be under you more often, I would like to say that I have always gone on this website to find out some things that I wasn't sure about but after reading how some people answered your question I would never put anything question out there for any of those disrespectfullll *!!# to answer, you can take your dog to the vet later and your vet will be able to let you know since all dogs are not the same.

Good grief, I would think making people sign up might deter some legit askers, but at the same time it will give much more control to what is posted and what the public sees.I believe that is available for this type of board and I would strongly suggest it. This is a turn off to see someone put down when they are here for advice. The big problem is that spaying and nutering are too expensive for most people. That should be practically free then one can argue the ethics. This is a bone of contention with me if not for the high expence there would be more finding homes and keeping them. And all the unwanted pups/cats would be lessened and no one would then have a valid excuse. That is what I am fightimg for. Please choose your words carefully one wants to win converts not enemies. The animals depend on us to make their lives safe and to want them. thank you

I recently bred my beautiful German Sheperd female to a wonderful titled german sheperd male. She is three yrs old. She is eating frequently, hungry all the time! Is that a sign that she took? Are there early signs of pregnancy in k-9'? Her weight when I brought her to the vet was 64.5 pounds 3weeks ago to get her tested for brucillous, prior to breeding. She is now 70lbs. What is the normal weight gain in k-9's for pregnancy? Thank you for your response

i dont know if my dog is pregnet yet. a stray male was running around while she was outside and he seemed to have bred as my younger brother said. i dont know if i came to late or too early. my younger brother was with her but she was of her leash. still i dont know to tell immeditly. sadly he might have bred the other female which is an outside dog soon to get ready for house training.

you need to get her scaned,most mobile vets charge you around �30 to �40 but its not alot to know how many pups to expect if she is and normaly they will offer to attend the birth which is around �150 pounds which when you think about it its under the cost of one pup and gives peace of mind to both you and your dog.weight gain is normal and teats get bigger and sometimes darken or go very pink.be carfull shes not just putting on weight because you have fed her more due to mating her tho.sometimes if she is having only one or two pups her weight can go un noticed tho so be aware.a scan is always best for you dog.she will go threw differant stages and may start to vomit in the last weeks of pregnancy too.she may start to dig and nest with her bedding or find a quiet sneeky spot like your bed or washing pile so look out lol.
she may start to shed her tummy hair and loose her apertite towards the last few weeks too.she will become restless and stretch out alot.first stages of labour normaly arnt seen eiver so keep an eye on her temp as it should drop from 101-100 to 98-99 the thermomiter is gently placed up her vulver or somtimes her bottom.when temp has droped you will have between 12 and 2 hours till the first pup is visible in its little green sack.pups can usualy be born between 15 mins and 1 hour apart but have been known to take longer in some cases but usualy this can mean you may need a c sec from your vets as it can wear your dam out and put her gland to sleep.she needs all her pups out or you could loose her.she can go into shock.if you have a mobile vet she will usualy try a shot of oxitocine that will start her contractions again to help her.natral birth is always best but somtimes help is needed.after mum has opened the puppy sack and cleaned her pup sometimes its good to have a soft clean hand towle and gently dry the pup some more then put her straight to the mums teat to feed.make sure this dosent take long as it can stress your dam out and you dont want her mouthing her pups and harming them.puppies feeding on the mum will bring on her contractions too so will help her push the next puppy out.if mum takes to long to rip her sack you must help her rip it.remember you carnt kill a pup that has already died so you are only helping her out.mum should lick the pup till it gasps for air and takes its first breath.if this takes to long you must help her by gently rubbing with your towel or try holding the pup with both hands suport its head and body and gentley swing from your sholder down to your knees its called a falling motion that can help the pup gasp for air.remember you should have someone who has deliverd befor with you that knows what they are doing if you havent deliverd befor.if your dam is pregnant you should stop all rough play and jumping up by week four and just stick to gentle walks that arnt to long.there arnt really a lot of signs to look out for in first stages of pregnancy untill she is about 40 days or more then you should be able to see for yourself.you can have her scan done from 36 days to 39 days.after that its hard for your vet tell with a normal scan......good look hope all goes well

Is it possible that a dog could never give birth and is still pregnant from last heat cycle?

Hi there I was wondering if any one else has a opinion please. I have a beautiful girl who is a American bulldog. She has just turned 1.the problem is she has had her first season and since then her tits are warm and have dropped down. She looks like a little cow she's been weird and angry with our other dog when it comes to food. She's really sooky and whingie.she carrying her teddy around all the time . She's now super protective of my husband. Please help

My dog has nipples on her stomach and we have had 2 different male dogs around her in the past 3 months but we cant tell if she is pregnant. Any sugestions?

When a female, regardless of the breed, is in heat, they will spot, sometimes fairly heavily. It's a good idea to cover furniture or buy doggie diapers, as this can be very unpleasant for the owners! A dog's heat will generally last about 18 days. There's an old saying "she snaps for 9 days, and dogs for 9 days:, meaning in the first 9 days she will not allow a male dog to mate with her, but in the second 9 days, she is very willing and this is when she will breed. Since no two dogs are exactly the same, she may be spotting when bred or not, but if she mates during those last 9 days, chances are very good that she will be pregnant. Hope this helps!

i took in a stray who was pregnant and she had them in late september so she had to have went into heat in july.
so now i have adopted her but she is still very swollen in the birth area nipples have shrunk some but she is coming up on her 5th month so she could already have been back in heat and i might not have noticed because she has around 3 miles of our land she likes to take walks in . i have 2 other males but they just sniff and not try to be agressive yet. how do i tell this early if she is very early expecting so soon after sept birth ? please help

At 6 months old I do not think she is bred. Usually a cocker does not go into heat before 8 months of age. I have seen one or two go in early but not often. I would watch her for a temp drop and heavy panting if you are seriously thinking a dog got to her.

my 13 month old miniture dashaund started her first cycle and her pussy has been sticking out and bleeding for about 2 weeks. Her nipples are twice the normal size and she has been acting very lazy. Does it sound like she may be pregnant? How long on average do dashaunds stay on their cycles?

i have chihuahua female who has not had her first heat yet but the vet said she can still be pregnant i am almost 20 and this is my first dog. i have no doubt she is pregnant and neither does my mom but we do not know what all the signs are of a chihuahua being pregnant i am not even sure when it might have happened but my dog barely wants to play or even eat or drink please send me an email if you can tell me what the signs i need to look for are and hopefully in order. and please do not use fowl language my email address is ragdollznwa2007@yahoo.com

yes dogs can get pregnant at 6 months but your vet will tell you that this is wronge for you to let this happen as it can harm your dog at such a young age and can also harm her puppies they can have defects or other problems that somtimes happen later on in there lives.its not healthy for your dog to get pregnant so young so if they have not been spayed you should keep a closer eye one them.most vets will tell you to wait untill your dam is on her third heat to mate her but some say second time she is in season is fine if her first season started late as some dams do not start there cicle till nine months.your dog is still classed as a puppy untill its 18 months old so you should bare this in mind or talk to your vet befor going ahead to plan puppies however adorable they may be.not saying dont have them but think of the best time for your dog and take the time to get to know her befor breeding it will help the both of you in the long run to now you have a better understanding and trust as when you dam has her pups she may change her behavior and will be protective of her babies so the better she trusts the more likley she will let you help her with her young ones.sometimes its hard to keep an eye on your dogs at all times and mistakes can be made but if you notice her cicle starting them just keep a closer eye on your dam...hope this helps

if you think this is already the case then you need to get her looked at as soon as posible so your vet can scan her and try to give you an idea as to how far gone she is if pregnant and what diets and exersize to give her during the diferant stages of pregnancy.puppy kibble is good for her and boiled egg,if she is a small dog then only half a boiled egg a day.while calcium rich foods are good for her too you will need to stop all these foods ten days befor labour as her body will need to go into store calcium mode itself but you can treat her to a little cottage cheese or goats milk juring labour to help her contractions but not to much as you dont want to put her gland to sleep.you may notice nesting behavior in the last two weeks of pregnance too but bare in mind she could have pups a week early so be ready.have your vets number at hand and your car fueled up incase you need an emergencey c section.dont let her out of your site in the last few weeks eiver as some dogs will try to run off and have there puppies alone.if you have never delivered then speak to your vet or your mobile vet as things can always go wronge and some dogs dont open the puppy sack in time so they can suffercate....take care

i dont even know, why to read here, there you search with google or another search engine to get some answers for a question you have, then you click the link, sometimes the first answer can help you, but in this message here, people get a slap in the face, other people slap others and so further and so on, why even bother to read here at all, when you have to read these answers, the person just asked a simple question and get bombarded with crap all over the place. Why even bother to read at this website any other questions, do the answers look the same? I just searched the internet to find some answers about that question and all i must read here is real bad language, is here no administration to stop this kind of answers? Some people go here in other peoples business, what have nothing to do with the actually question. The question was not: Should i let neuter my dog? Is it to early to breed? These were not the questions. There are several good answers here, but the rest of it you can forget. Then do not post if you dont understand the question. It is a shame how some people act here. And if i have some mistakes in my writing, well english is not my first language.
