You may have a point. Perhaps that is the reason I'm finding it difficult to accept and why they make such an odd couple. What is with legendary British rock musicians and their lack of physical upkeep as they age? Do they look in the mirror and say "I look just fine, I don't need any work."? It's not like they can't afford it. Rock-n-roll personifies and represents youth. In the case of bands like Led Zeppelin, their music still sounds current. It's ageless and timeless. I think, subconsciously, we also expect THEM to be ageless and timeless. There has always been pressure for celebrities to look good no matter what their age but that pressure has now intensified over the past 10 years with the new remarkable technology available. If 40 is the new 30 and 50 is the new 40, there is no reason why 60 can't be the new 50. Bottom line, we expect celebrities to look at least 10-15 years younger than their actual age - and make it look natural. Or, at least learn how to age gracefully. Billy Joel and his 22 year old wife don't look awkward they way Jimmy and Jimena do. So, perhaps it's just a subconscious expectation on my part that, if a man his age is going to date a 20-something, then HE should look fabulous himself. At least as fabulous as he can for 61.

If someone can share cultural differences in expectations please do. I've noticed that American rock stars understand the demands to look young. British rock musicians don't seem to.

I hate to put the demand on rock legends and tell them they're not allowed to age but...well...they're not.
