As long as there are rock and pop stars around, there will always be a groupie lifestyle. Lately, it seems that there are more "scene" girls who dress in an edgy, rock chick style and these girls are as eager as ever! I've noticed lots of typical groupies on the Warped Tour in the USA. In 2006, two girls were apparently thrown off the Warped Tour for "tourbus hopping" and typically getting free rides with different bands on the tour. These girls were there for no real reason, apart from hanging out and hooking up with the band members of their choices. This is not allowed on Warped Tour, so they were found out and banned from travelling with anyone on the tour. Although there are tough rules for non-tour workers to get rides with the Warped crew and bands, it's easy to get backstage on Warped Tour, so it attracts the usual hangers-on and loads of drunk band members after the entertainment is over means lots of groupie action! I've seen a lot of the same girls follow bands around Europe. They almost always hang out in pairs, wear high heels and slutty looking low-cut tops even in freezing cold weather and these people are NOT there to watch the shows! They are there to hang out afterwards, blag their way onto the tour buses, flirt and fuck.
