Subject: A sequence question about volume 2

Hi again Sharon and Kris. Thank you for being so patient with all of my questions. I looked over volume 2's lesson plans for the flight week. They look great. I was wondering about something though. We live in Michigan and unfortunately it would be quite difficult to go out and ride bikes and fly kites in December or January. Our school year starts in September and ends in July. We school basically year- round with the exception of August so that we can take more frequent breaks as my health requires. Since the flight week is scheduled for the 12th week and it is in the first unit that would put us around the middle of December to the middle of January depending on our Christmas break. Is it possible for those of us with four seasons of weather to mix up the units so that we can still do the fun things that require outside adventures? In the flight unit we are also instructed to watch the birds. This would also be quite difficult since most of them fly south. I know that you two are in Florida and Tenn.; I wish I was too, believe me!! Almost all of my family is in Florida and we have talked about retiring in Tenn., but that is a long way off!!! With my health I cannot go outside in the Winter for more than a few minutes so even watching the winter birds is not a possibility for me. My biggest concern in mixing up the units is in the progression of the math and language arts. My boys have already stuggled with Language Arts for the past 2 years. Would those subjects be more difficult if I had to start with unit 2 first? Or should I just mix-up the weeks within the units? We really don't want to miss out on the fun stuff, but our climate is not very cooperative. I was wondering what the best way of going about this would be.

Also, I was wondering if Bible is included in Volume 2? It is not listed on the Scope and Sequence, but it is listed in the Sample Lesson. Is it always included or just sometimes?

Thanks for the help.

Blessings, Liann
