Author: Kyrath
Subject: Kyrath surveys the remaining fledgelings...

Most seem to be getting the hang of it, and the others will soon. She herself had not hovered on the first try...although she hadn't had such an 'expert' for a teacher, either. Chuckling at the memories, she proceeds to direct the fledgelings in the place of Raja, talking directly to the dragonettes.

She adresses the injured rider's bronze, speaking with him on a private level. 'Ishith? A'than should be all right. Why don't you stay here and continue with the lessons. That way, you can surprise him when he returns.'

The gold then adresses the group as a whole: 'Dragonlings, please convey what I am saying to your riders. Thank you.

'All of you that are now hovering, you may land. Those of you who haven't mastered it yet, keep trying. You'll get it eventually. However, all of you must listen well to the next set of directions, as all of you will have to attempt them at some point.'
she pauses, making sure she has each and every pair's undivided attention before continuing.

'Now, we will learn to fly.'

Kyrath speaks at length about thermals, and wind and air patterns. She tells the younglings how to gain altitude and how to glide, and when each is appropriate. Take offs and landings, backwinging and hovering, all and more are covered. She mentions all of the things important to any flying creature, but especially a dragon, whose very livlihood depends on flight.

Finally, she is finished. 'Now I want all of you who have hovered to find an empty ledge. On the count of three, we will begin practice. Remember how I taught you to take off. Start off just flying to the next ledge. I will leave it up to you to decide when you will increase your distance. Practice for a few hours, then we will take a break and learn how to chew firestone. Ready?

'One...two...THREE!'

((OOC note: I'm doing my best to condense several weeks worth of lessons in RT (and Pern Time) into a very short period of time, so that your dragons can actually turn into adults at some point *g*. I am placing my trust in you guys to have read the books and know how to fly, etc. so that I don't actually have to have Kyrath explain it all to you. If you haven't, I strongly recommend checking them out. Hopefully, you will be going between in just over a week. (Remember, that's about a half-year to a year in Pern time, so age your charries accordingly.) Good luck, and Happy flying!))
