Glen,

Yeah, this is what I have heard. I have already noticed a loss of coolant. I have been reading up (Haynes and Chilton's manuals) on how to fix a head gasket, but a couple of questions...

1) does this affect gas mileage or is that something different altogether? I have thought it could be an injector, because sometimes when the car is warm and has been driven around town a lot it won't start. I have to try several times...acts like not getting enough gas. This happens maybe twice a month...depending how much around town use.

2) how plausible is it to fix a head gasket by myself and repair manual? How much time do you think I have before it becomes a serious issue? What happens if I keep driving?..just losing coolant? Would it be just buying a new gasket and replacing it or could it involve other parts? I have never noticed a time when the car has gotten too hot or overheated so I'm surprised the head gasket went, unless it's not just overheating that causes those...maybe just miles and a lot of use??

Thanks for your help Glen!

Josh
