Well that's what I noticed in reverse when I moved to a large city, to me city people seem too bothered to stop seeing everyone as simplified stereotypes or categories as they walk down the street. (I think t.v. has the same influence) It might be kind of subtle, especially at first it's not something I grasped till a number of months after I moved. Well you say you've moved 9 months ago -not all towns are the same either. If you're going to stay there for any length of time it might not hurt to just sort of assert your own individual identity, be outgoing and try to get to know a few people. Over time you might find you've gained a few friends who respect you, or at least you might find your certain place in the community. But I can't promise anything, especially since I haven't seen the town you live in/near.
