Subject: Summer/Upcoming Movies

Okay---so, what summer blockbusters has everyone ventured out to see? The bombs? The great previews? Who's looking forward to what?

In the past few weeks I have seen:
Star Wars
Mr. & Mrs. Smith
Madagascar
Batman
Herbie (I know....but my mom and I were killing time)
Bewitched
Batman (again)

What I'm really looking forward to is Rent, in the fall. The preview was with Bewitched. I don't know if anyone else saw it, but to me it was worth the price of a ticket just to see the preview for that. As soon as I got home I went to HSX to play around with stuff I had seen at the previews---but especially Rent.

I have a friend I go to the movies with and she sent me a list--so we're starting our Movie Battle Plan for the next year.

[> I've only seen the latest Star Wars because I'm poor and a friend bought me the ticket as a birthday present. I would love to see Batman Begins, Mr. & Mrs. Smith, Fantastic Four, and Charlie & the Chocolate Factory though. And maybe The Great Raid and The Brothers Grimm. -- Nadja / Jennie, 02:53:43 07/06/05 Wed [1]

[> So far this summer I've seen Star Wars (dark, but good), Madagascar (good), Bewitched (very cute). On DVD, I've seen The Phantom of the Opera (love it, music is awesome!), Mean Girls (cute), The Pacifier (believe it or not, it was pretty good). I also am looking forward to seeing Rent this fall, too, C, as well as Fantastic Four, and a cute looking romantic comedy that I can't remember the name of. Something about dogs though... -- Sara, 14:48:08 07/07/05 Thu [1]

[> I saw Star Wars (liked it), Batman Begins (liked it), Madagascar (cute, but wouldn't see it again without kids), Mr. & Mrs Smith (better than expected, but not as good as I hoped), War of the Worlds (dreck of the worlds is more like it), and I'm going to see Fantastic Four tomorrow. I'll let you know what I think over the weekend. -- KatRose, 19:47:33 07/07/05 Thu [1]

[> [> Fantastic Four was fun. Much better than I expected it to be. Lots of things to enjoy (nice eye candy :-D) and great effects that had me wondering, "How'd they do that?" -- KatRose, 19:22:03 07/11/05 Mon [1]

[> [> [> With the dark action flicks this summer, I intentionally didn't expect the same from FF. I agree that it was good eye candy and there were some really funny lines. It's funny--because I didn't notice a lot of little kids in it and this one would have been better for the young crowd than the 3 year olds I saw at Batman. Little kids at movies is one of my big soapboxes... -- C, 12:26:27 07/12/05 Tue [1]

[> [> [> [> It's one of the reasons I love Mann Theaters here in L.A. They have a rule that says, "No child 5 or under in any movie rated PG-13 or higher." So I don't have to worry about little ones talking or crying during the movies I want to see. -- KatRose, 15:36:49 07/12/05 Tue [1]

[> I've seen Star Wars, Mr. & Mrs. Smith, Bewitched and at my daughter's request, the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants. I want to go see Must Love Dogs, that looks like a cute movie. Otherwise, most of the movies I see are whatever the kids pick. I think I might see War of the Worlds when hubby comes home for two weeks. -- Sheila, 16:19:18 07/11/05 Mon [1]

[> I saw Madagascar a couple of weeks ago. It was cute (by virtue of the penguins, two monkeys and some lemurs ("I like to move it, move it") hee hee!) but overall, it was only okay. Animation lovely, story mediocre. I *want* to see War of the Worlds...but I've got two more assignments and an essay to write! Oy! -- Canrane, 10:36:10 07/12/05 Tue [1]

[> [> I can't decide about War of the Worlds---I heard really good things from somewhere, and then I've heard poor things elsewhere. I guess it's one of those that I'll get to if my movie buddy wants to see it, and if not, I'll get it on Netflix. -- C, 12:27:30 07/12/05 Tue [1]

[> I haven't seen any new movies yet this summer at the cinema, but I did rent two that I want to buy--Spanglish with Adam Sandler and Carolina with Julia Stiles. Very good movies. I give 2 thumbs up for each of them. -- Lisa, 12:41:26 07/19/05 Tue [1]
