I had high expectations for Troy. I loved Gladiator even if it wasnt the most historically accurate movie ever made, but it was fun and had one of the most basic (but classic) plot lines, Man's family is murdered, Man unleashes vengeance to the world :) But back to Troy, I found it to be somewhat dull. It didnt help matters that I detest Orlando Bloom, his only saving grace in that movie was that his character was pathetic :) As for the historical accuracy of Troy, could it be that the film makers were trying to make it seem more scientifically believable.

SPOILER ALERT!!!! SCROLL DOWN TO END OF SPOILER ALERT

Firstly from the size of the city they created do you reckon Troy could have supplies which would have lasted ten years and secondly when achilles died in the end I was under the impression from the books that he died instantly when the spear went into his ankle (we all know why the ankle so I wont go into it) but in the film he carried on living and it wasnt actually the wound to his ankle that killed him and perhaps this legend grew because the soldiers saw him dead with the spear in his ankle. The film makers did tend to play on the fact that he never really thought of himself as the son of a god but rather some kick ass soldier. Just a thought though.

END OF SPOILER :)

So I didnt like it though me and my mates had a good laugh though :)

I cant wait to watch potter 3, I heard it was a darker film than the previous two and I feel that was the point JK Rowling was trying to write. I've read all the HP books (I'm not sad, theyre good books!) and she has written them to appeal to a more mature audience. I think they were primarily meant for young children but when she realised the cross over into the older audience she tailored her style likewise, which is probably why shes so rich now, cha ching! I can't stand Ron, hes annoyed me since the very first film. Harry also annoys me... hmm makes me wonder how I can like the books/films at all :)

I can't think of any films that have really stood out recently except for the last samurai but thats not really recent. I'd go into it but right now I cant be bothered so let me know what you thought of it then I'll add my two cents :p
