Hi Dreemy,

I saw your post at the other site and immiediately came over here. I guess we're two peas in a pod. I am still on the diet that the Wish Center recommended and still exercising. From August 9 to Sept. 9 I lost 4 and a half pounds and 6.25 inches overall. I am very pleased with things so far. Unfortunately my surgery had to be postponed.

In May while having a routine Doctor visit my doctor said well, it's been about a year since we did bloodwork so we better do that now. My bloodwork came back with a low blood platelet count. So I was told to come back in 3 months to have bloodwork done again. Again it was low. Normal ranges of platelet counts vary but are approximately 140,000 to 400,000. I was at 117,000 and 121,000. So it was suggested I see a specialist. Low blood platelet count can be caused by many different things from minor to very serious. It could be a simple virus....it could be cancer. So I saw a specialist and she believes I have Chronic ITP (Idiopathic Thrombocytopenic Purpura). I have to have more bloodwork done in October and from there we'll see what needs to be done.

Anyway, because of this blood problem I tend to bleed more and bruise very easily so the Wish Center will not do surgery at this time. I'm hoping to rejoin the program after the first of the year if all goes well with my next few blood platelet counts. But I'll still watching my food intake and exercising. I have been eating a lot SLOWER...which helps. And having to eat so many meals and snacks a day is keeping me from having the uncontrollable binges and cravings. When going to nicer restaurants I order my meal and when they bring it I also ask for a box, divide the meal in half and put it away so I eat less. I am definitely one who will eat whatever is on my plate and clean my plate completely!!! (starving children in Ethopia right??!!)

One thing that the psycologist recommeded was a book called "Overcoming Overeating". He believed that I am a compulsive over-eater. This book is VERY informative and I am getting a lot of useful information out of it. There are several books out there about compulsive overeating but this one really works for me the best. Some others follow the 12-step program outlined in AA, which I didn't really care for.

So I'm still fighting the fight or running the race. I hope to someday be able to say "Yeah, I've lost 80 pounds!". Just to say those words....God that would be awesome. There is such power in saying that. It's so motivating. Well, we'll see. Somehow, someway I'll get back into life, like you say. Thanks Dreemy,

Love,
SapphireMist
