 Michael supressed his impatience. His was not a tranquil nature, and even the slightest delay in important plans made him itch all over with the need to be moving. But this was a strange clan and he knew Gabriel would not be happy if he behaved improperly. He could imagine his brother's face--not angry, not even frustrated, but filled with a gentle, questioning sorrow, the kind that made Michael's anger dissipate in an instant.

So he bowed again, and thanked the Leader for his hospitality and generosity. Evan, sitting on his shoulder, also bowed his proud head (after watching the hawk's flight with interest; watching experienced flyers was of great value to him).
