Kaleadora gulped and nodded resolutely. "For the boy," she muttered, mostly to herself, and closed her eyes in preparation to back her sister up.
But just then, a link opened up in Kalea's mind, quite strong. Kalea jumped as the voice of her secret friend spoke brazenly into her mind.
::Kalea, what's going on? There are Cheysuli all over the forest, they've captured a human boy... Where are you?::
Kalea mentally pounced on the link, hushing it so that her sister would not hear. ::Angie, why are you here?:: she cried angrily. ::You're in danger! Everlasting Cat, what a time to visit... Go home, Angie, and quick! Nashota-- that is, my sister and I are really busy helping out some new friends, and it's really important and you shouldn't be here! Go home!::
::I can be here if I want,:: Angie replied, and her voice had a sullen tone. ::Keep talking, so I can track you.::
Kalea instantly clipped the mindlink off, quieting her mind. What would the golden tiger do if a strange Jellicle suddenly popped into the cave with no good reason? What would Nashota do? All underage Jellicles were not allowed contact with other tribes! Kalea gulped again, hard, and glanced sideways at her sister. To her despair, she saw that both the golden tiger and Nashota were staring at her hard, with something like suspicion. Oh no, she heard! Kalea thought in panic, worrying only about her sister. She heard! I'm done for!
"I, uh, sorry," Kalea stuttered. "I was just... preparing... Let's get started, shall we?" She grinned her most winning grin and leaned in close to the slowly heaving chest of the liren, squeezing her eyes shut tightly and spreading her hands over the wiry fur of their patient.
