Subject: Gimmicks, Tacky Trinkets, Rosary Beads Are All Superficial Spirituality NOT of Christ

Superficially “titled” false teachers make a serious error and put the emphasis on the external to the exclusion of what is essential. Spirituality is not gained by conformity to a set of appearance standards. Please don't make that mistake. A person can be straight down the line with Tee-Shirts screaming Jesus! Caps shouting “I Love The LORD!” and have sfuzzis hugging their Dr. Pepper can claiming “Get Right – Be Saved!” and be as mean as the devil. We know two such devils from Oklahoma. They can just stab you in the back. God does not want that. He wants your heart as well as your appearance to be right.

You can use a wrong soul-winning method of looking like a paint-ball machine for Jesus and pressure people to go to the altar, and pressure them to join your church and “Receive the Holy Ghost” (speak in tongues to those who pervert the gospel) though they probably are not saved because their prayer was pushed on them by people like PFAKE, Inc.

The next thing you know they are in Bible College, and three years later, they should be ready to pastor a church. They're probably not saved, but they look good. They know all the right things to say. They take a church and a few years later you hear that they have been immoral. The last thing in the world I want is for others to become like that.

Superficial spirituality seen in the mendacious men from Moore is not what Jesus is after. He wants the genuine thing.

Here is an example of the pattern of superficial spirituality in a person’s life:

”May 13, 1973 I accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior. Shortly after that, I felt God calling me to preach, so on March 31, 1974, I was licensed to preach the Gospel. In 1976, I was ordained. In 1977, I began to turn away from God …..I became interested in the Wicca religion and was initiated into the Alexandrian tradition by its founder, Alex Sanders himself after accepting his invitation to come to England on leave. I also studied the Celtic, Seax, Gardenarian, and Ecclectic traditions of Wicca……” Now the person has traded in their talismans and ju-ju feathers for splashy goo-gaws for “god” and is railing against those who do not respect his erratic life’s example.”

Sisters, if you’re dressing right, you ought to be the most joyful person. Brothers, if you’re doing right, you ought to be happy. I'll tell you, here's the witness test. If you see someone who is not doing it with the right heart attitude, you won't judge them. Your attitude will be, I need to pray for him so that he will know the joy of the Lord. He is a bitter depraved soul that doesn't know the joy of pleasing God. That will be your spirit. Please do it that way. Pray for Jack Howell and Mike Kear.
