A classic example on why Basil is, and chooses to remain an atheist.

But the Bible is The Truth,
Okay, since you insist on ignoring my earlier posts...

The Bible says that Shem was born when Noah was 500. That the alleged Flood happened when Noah was 600. This means Shem was 100 when the Flood happened. The Bible, in Gen11:11 then says the Arphaxod (whatever!) was born when Shem was 100 "two years after the flood".

Gen 5:32
32 And Noah was five hundred years old: and Noah begat Shem, Ham, and Japheth.
(KJV)

What Basil "chooses" to ignore is biblical truth. Ham is the youngest while Japeth is the oldest:

Gen 9:24
24 And Noah awoke from his wine, and knew what his younger son had done unto him.

Gen 10:21
21 Unto Shem also, the father of all the children of Eber, the brother of Japheth the elder, even to him were children born.(KJV)

The names are not listed in chronological order. Shem is listed first here because it is through him that G_d's Mechiach would come.

Notice too, the list corresponds with the symmetrical structure of lists used elsewhere in scripture. These lists contain a tenfold scheme with the tenth in each list having 3 sons.

Chapter 5 serves at least 3 ends in the scheme of Genesis:

1. It bears witness to man's value to G_d; by naming individuals and stages in this early human phase, each is known and remembered;
2. It shows how the line of Seth, "the appointed," led to Noah, "the deliver;" and
3. It both demonstrates the reign of death by the refrain "and he died" and the standing pledge of death's defeat by the taking of Enoch.

There is nothing deceiving nor untrue in Scriture. The only glaring thing is Basil's lack of truth discernment.
