Had to laugh at the dietary conversation by GellyB and Lilith. I tink we had this conversation before. The key is to GIVE UP processed foods of all kinds. No processed flours, sugars, etc. That is what spikes your insulin to dangerous levels. The sugar sticks to the blood platelets when the sugar levels go too high. This is what makes diabetics predisposed to heart and organ failure, and other problems.

You can gage this by the "crash" you feel after you eat these processed foods. You feel sleepy and tired, having no energy.

This can be overcome by eating good, G_d given foods. Lotza veggies and fruits, cooked whole grains. There is something to be said about that steamy hot bowl of oatmeal each morning. The key is eat lots of deep sea fish, high in Omega 3, fatty acids. I supplement with daily doses of Cod Liver Oil gelcaps and Vitamin E. These are a hedge of protection just in case you do crave those processed things.

White rice is as bad as processed white flour. Potatoes are not that great either but, at least, there is veggie fiber there. Try lowfat milk and yogurt, too!
