I have been teaching nightly bible study these past few weeks out of the books of Joshua and Judges. I find the current Mags-Lilith debate on war amusing.

Prov 20:18
18 Every purpose is established by counsel: and with good advice make war.

Luke 14:30-35
30 Saying, This man began to build, and was not able to finish.
31 Or what king, going to make war against another king, sitteth not down first, and consulteth whether he be able with ten thousand to meet him that cometh against him with twenty thousand?
32 Or else, while the other is yet a great way off, he sendeth an ambassage, and desireth conditions of peace.
33 So likewise, whosoever he be of you that forsaketh not all that he hath, he cannot be my disciple.
34 Salt is good: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be seasoned?
35 It is neither fit for the land, nor yet for the dunghill; but men cast it out. He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.
(KJV)

I wonder if either Mags or Lilith can name the leaders in the book of Judges who failed to seek the face of G_d in their desire to make war with the Canaanites, etc. What were the consequences of their failure?

I find the story of Gideon an interesting parallel to Christians today. Christians today are willing to serve the Lord under the cover of darkness. They will wear their Christianity on their sleeve, never risking their cherished beliefs by sharing them with others. Like Gideon, many Christians, upon seeing The Angel of the Lord, would rather make a meal in His honor as an offering. G_d wants obedience. Your works outside of that obedience are for nought.

Another interesting part of the story is where the Lord pared down Gideon's army to 300. The story of the soldiers drinking and how they drank from the water is interesting. Are you drinking from the Word of G_d by lapping; drinking heavily and deeply? Or, are you taking some in your hand; drinking shallow, ever looking around to see who is watching?

I thought of Mags, last night, while teaching on Samson, Manoah and his wife and their encounter with The Angel of the Lord. Samson was to be a Nazarite to G_d, in the womb of his mother. She was to obstain from fruits of the vine, strong fermented drinks made from grains, nor touch anything dead. This vow transferred to Samson upon his birth.

The amusing part is where Manoah wanted to know the name of The Angel of the Lord. The Lord, of course, told him it was none of his business. A tactic lost over on the R1D2 channel in dealing with TMS, Ctaj, and the Bobblehead Demon.
