HOW TO GET PERMISSION TO COPY AN IMAGE OR ARTICLE

Please remember all images and articles on the Internet belong to someone.

Unfortunately you have no right to just take an image and use it for your own purposes or to copy an article and reproduce this yourself.

Every creator of every original document/article or image owns that document or image and permission has to be asked of the creator to reproduce or use the original document/image.

In the case of taking images of original art works from the Internet you have to ask the artist for permission to do so.

Write an email to the artist whose image you want to use and tell them for what purposes you want to use their image. They may or may not agree to your use of their image and they have a right to ask for a fee - or accreditation to use their image.

You can NOT take an image from the Internet and make it into posters, prints or cards to sell for commercial gain.

You can NOT take an image from the Internet and use it as your company logo or reproduce in any manner - without asking permission from the artist.

If it is discovered that an image has been used without permission - the artist has every right to take you to court to seek damages. So it is really not worth the risk to take an image without permission and use it for your own purposes.

There are a number of photo archives/libraries on the Internet from whom you can use 'copyright free' images - please read the conditions of use first.

Go to: www.google.com and put in 'copyright free images' as a search and you will receive a list of web sites with copyright free images.

In the case of writing your own articles with quotes from authors or information taken from the internet - you must make reference to the authors - even if it is to say - information taken from and then quote the web site name and URL.

You can not gain credit from something that you have not created yourself.

So please remember, everything belongs to someone and ASK before you use someone else's property.
