Subject: Team Finances - A solution?

Given that many teams here are in financial strife, I propose that we develop a system for teams to make money, apart from revenue alone. Given that this league is supposedly meant to run on the premise of teams having lots of cash, so that they can do big signing bonuses to keep player salaries down. Right now the disparity between the top and bottom teams is massive. The teams with the big cash is usually those who not only make the playoffs, but also get a few rounds (My team 2 yrs ago was close to broke, and only getting to the finals saved me from bankruptcy). This is great, and those teams deserve the cash for getting their teams to that point. However 1/2 the team doesn't even make the playoffs, never mind get an extra 12 homegame profits. So the "good" teams get the extra money, have lobster and steak team dinners, while the lesser teams are kicking the dirt and boiling chicken bones for dinner.

I'm the Commissioner of an FHA League named CLUTCH, where teams are able to generate cash for their team by writing articles. (Every article generates 500k cash for that team). This way every team has the chance to make money, and levels out the playing field somewhat. It has also seen a huge jump in league activity, where we were getting maybe 2 articles a day if we were lucky (in a 30 team league), to 4 or 5 a day. Teams that were in the red have a chance to fix their teams finances, while contributing to the overall activity of the league.

I know we already have a system of rewarding team articles, with 1 million for the Meeker award winner. However 1 million dollars isn't going to solve the problem we have here (with a 38 million dollar gap between the team with the most money and that with the lowest).

Just my $0.02
