Update: Adventure passes are required if you will be parked at The Meadows, since it's in the forest. Passes are $5 and available at Jensen's Grocery store in Running Springs (open at 7 a.m. Saturday). When you reach the top of 330 right before the Lake Arrowhead/Big Bear sign, make a right at the Running Springs sign, make another right, go down the street a bit, and they are on the right side of the street.
To pick up Hwy 18 to GVL, continue down the street a very short way from Jensen's and the street will merge with Hwy 18 if you stay in the right lane.
You can also purchase Adventure Passes near your home. Check at sporting good stores, like REI.
