Amen.

Was talking to someone in one of the manga scanslation site IRC channels...and I offhandedly referred to the fact that the entire operation was blatantly illegal. The guy was stunned--he didn't even believe me until one of the channel regulars confirmed it.

In my mind, fansub <---> doujinshi, at least in terms of legality. They're both completely, obviously, blatantly illegal...and yet tolerated.

(This is, of course, aside from "fansubbers" like Anime Junkies...flaming legit companies for DARING "license" something they coproduced? Who do these morons think they are?)

Nothing wrong with that. Why do you think people go through the tape library at two tapes a week, reliably? You're complaining only about CDs, and that's an illusion--same applies to tapes, it's just a matter of degree.

It's looking like you're going to get the rest of Cha Cha...or at least FAR more episodes than you have got now. Some kind soul is posting it to alt.binaries.multimedia.anime (a cesspool of licensed pseudofansubs and outright DVD rips, yes, but there IS plenty of more legitimate material as well). In the past week I've probably got a good fifth of the show.

That isn't a curse, it's an awesome responsibility ;) Just stay away from Ebichu and concentrate on things like Akazukin Cha Cha and everything will be fine...
