Subject: Fall Tv Schedule

First, I have a question for you Lost and Veronica Mars viewers: were the shows always on at the same time? Because I notice they go against one another in the "fall" tv lineup and that earns my "that sucks" stamp of approval.

Buffyverse people will starring in all sorts of shows come September:

"Bones." (Fox) Hourlong, created by writer Hart Hanson (“Judging Amy,” “Joan of Arcadia”), about a forensic anthropologist and an FBI agent who team up to solve murders. It stars Emily Deschanel (“Spider-Man 2,” “Boogeyman”), David Boreanaz (“Angel”) , Michaela Conlin (“The D.A.”), Jonathan Adams (“American Dreams”) and T.J. Thyne (“Ghost World,” “How High”).

I'm wondering of SMG will make an apperance on this disaster to be:

"Freddie." (ABC) Sitcom, written by Freddie Prinze Jr. (!) seriously?? and someone named Conrad Jackson, about a successful chef raised by females. With Prinze (“Scooby Doo 2”), Megyn Price (“Grounded For Life”), Jenny Gago (“Coach Carter”), Jacqueline Obradors (“NYPD Blue”) and Brian Austin Green (“Beverly Hills 90210”).

"How I Met Your Mother." (CBS) Sitcom, from writers Carer Bays & Craig Thomas (“Last Show With David Letterman,” “American Dad”), about a man who recounts to his kids the story of their parents’ courtship. It stars Alyson Hannigan (“Buffy the Vampire Slayer”) , Neil Patrick Harris (“Doogie Howser, M.D.”), Jason Segal (“Freaks & Geeks”) and Josh Radnor (“The Court”).

Ooh, Willow and Doogie Howser! I bet Willow is simply dying :P

"Kitchen Confidential." (Fox) Sitcom, created by David Hemingson (“Just Shoot Me!” “Jesse”), about a “bad-boy” New York chef. It stars Bradley Cooper (“Alias”), Jaime King (“Sin City”), Nicholas Brendon (“Buffy the Vampire Slayer”) , John Francis Daley (“Freaks and Geeks”), John Cho (“Harold and Kumar Go To White Castle”), Frank Langella (“Unscripted”), Bonnie Sommerville (“NYPD Blue”), Sam Pancake (“Legally Blonde 2”) and Owain Yeoman (“Troy”).

Normally I dislike sitcoms. I may actually watch those. We shall see.

Anyone going to be watching these shows?

UPN people - they're here *s*

Thanks so much for sharing the picture of fortune teller's little one!

Joan Of Arcadia was cancelled, if you haven't heard already.

I come bearing news of things:

Amber Benson will be showing some clips from her new film (as yet untitled) , in London. You can catch a trailer at the Benson Entertainment site. She's filming a guest spot on Tim Minear and Jane Espenson's new show The Inside which stars the wonderful Katie Finneran from the second greatest show that ever was :P ; Wonderfalls

The show premieres on June 8th on FOX aka The Devil.

I'd like to watch but it's on FOX. Quandry.

I'll be going to Comic Con again this year and looking forward to that.

Is it September yet?

Well okay it's Friday and I know that you missed it last week from the tears that welled up in your eyes. But it's here for this week so don't fret too much...Rack's track of the week is Left behind by Slipknot

Slipknot in some ways remind me a little of Slayer, although why I can't say. Still this is a prime example that nu-metal isn't all that bad, even if there seems to be no widdly widdly guitar solos anymore. Taken from the bands "Iowa" album this is a great heads down no nonsense song to mosh around the living room too. Teddy has a theory that as the band hail from Iowa as does Riley Finn he could be in the band and to avoid being recognised suggested that they adopt the wearing of masks. What other reason could there be?

Whilst I'm here, I've been looking into VOIP (Voice Over Internet Protocol) phones with a possible view to getting one. VOIP is a means for using your broadband connection for free calls to other VOIP subscribers (Skype, Vonage etc.) and greatly reduced calls to landlines, even those overseas. You can either turn your pc into what is termed a "soft phone" (i.e. you use a microphone and speakers or a headset with a mic), buy a VOIP phone ("hard phone") that plugs into a USB port on your computer or an adapter that plugs into a USB on your computer and your existing phone socket so you can use your normal push button phone.

I just wondered if anyone here had one or knew of anyone who had/has one and if they are any good.

Certainly has been quiet here lately...

Anyways as some of you are St*r W*rs fans I thought that I'd mention that on May 16th in London they are screening all six St*r W*rs flicks for the first and possibly last time, in release date order. Basically, you get to see "Revenge of the Sith" on the same night as the official UK premier and some three days prior to the worldwide release date of May 19th.

Only 1000 tickets were available for this unique event where it is rumoured George Lucas will introduce the screening of the last film "Revenge.." at the UCI Empire and these sold out in minutes.
Naturally I managed to obtain one, but rather than be bored stiff watching five films I've already seen and avoid being disappointed with the final prequel I decided to flog my ticket on eBay.

I've already made a 200% profit on it and the auction hasn't closed yet. I like st*r w*rs fans.

I know that you've been missing this. Those withdrawal symptoms are a give-a-away as much as the twitch in your left eye. But fear not it is back...Rack's track of the week

In sort of keeping with a vague space theme this weeks offering is Learn to Fly by The Foo Fighters

I was never really into Nirvana, more a case of hype over real substance in my mind. But Dave Grohl has in the decade or so since Mr Cobain when off in search of his own private Nirvana assembled a pretty decent outfit that is more than capable of producing a top notch recordings. Learn to Fly is a prime example of this.
It's a bit of a diversion from the Foo's norm, almost straying into soft rock airspace. However, there is more melody in the fuel tank that you'd probably expect from the Fighters. Still, this is a perfect tract to listen too if you're driving home late one night and have somehow conspired to get yourself lost. Not that has ever happened to me...well not since...

BTW the Foo Fighters have a new album out mid June called "In Your Honor" and features a collaboration with Led Zeppelin basest John Paul Jones.

Just popping in to say hello! How are all you Magic Boxers?

Is that the official term? It's weird that there's no more Buffy talk and there are all these other great shows that are piquing our interests. It's a somewhat divergent fan base, but it's still nice to see familiar faces in here.

So a big plate of chocolate chip cookies (and a small plate of strawberries) to all of you!

It's 1 am and I need sleep, but I'm glad I popped in.

Lately I've been watching Veronica Mars, Lost (though in repeats *grr*), Desperate Housewives, Grey's Anatomy, Felicity repeats, American Idol, The Apprentice.

But I'm looking forward to summertime when I can go outside more and get some fresh air.

Ok, I'm sleepy now and probably not making much sense.

So take care and {{{HUGS}}} to everyone!!

I've also heard this might be the end of JoA. Apparently there has been a big drop off in viewership. For my taste, I could have done without the new "character". I liked the show the way it was. I guess they were hoping to amp up the drama to attract more viewers. Well, I hope it works. I will miss JoA if it doesn't come back.

Almond backs through the front door pulling a wheeled cart with a huge cake balanced precariously on it. Three layers of scrumptious fun blazing with candles! Scrawled across the top in blue icing is:
Happy Birthday Dogtrot!
Placing the cake on the counter, she begins to lay out plates, napkins and forks. Just as she finishes her display, a beeping noise is heard. The candles have set off the smoke alarm! Water begins to fall from the ceiling as the automatic sprinkler system cuts in.....

Sorry about that, Dogtrot! Have some anyway? *g* You are going to tell us all about your fun day, right?

Lots of long-overdue responses to make, now that we're up and running again. That will have to wait a bit, though. We're taking daughter to the doctor this morning, so I need to get dressed. A couple of quick things for now:

Gothic: Thank you for the pictures of the nephews. They're adorable! According to Rack's "tips page", to post a picture the code is:
[/img]
Just use < > instead of [ ]. I've never tried it, though. I'm not sure if the Magic Box will support pictures as big as the ones you sent me.
Feel better, sweetie!

Kung Fu: I'm sorry the door-to-door thing was a bust. What were you selling?
You aren't giving up on school, are you? Can you still go next year?
Have some cake. Cake makes up for almost anything! *s*

Waves to Watcher, tarasApprentice and EmilyBoo....sends everyone (lurkers, too) a big {{Hug}}!

I have a '66 mustang. I bought it in Vegas and brought it with me to Hawaii because it was cheaper than buying a new car. Then we bought a "new" one anyway because it was such a good deal. A '67 Mustang convertible. Everyone wants to buy that one too.

I just watched The Cat Returns in English and there's this cow clock that I'd like. When the alarm goes off the tail moves up and down. The Cat Returns is an anime film released by Studio Ghibli in Japan and released here on dvd by Disney. Cows are just so funny though. We sent faeriegirl a cow that pooped brown jelly beans before. I shouldve bought one for myself. Maybe next time.

As for the drunk dog dream... I had a dream I was in downtown Vegas a long time ago. There was this empty lot with a dog lying down near an empty water bowl. He looked kinda sick. I walked by him when the dog told me he was drunk off of orange juice. Strange but wasnt too weird for me in the dream. As I was walking away the dog spontaneously burst into flames. I tried my best to put the fire out but it kept on burning. I starting shoveling dirt with my hands to try to smother the fire... I looked away for one second to check my shoveling and hands and when I turned back the dog was completely buried and still burning. There was nothing else I could do for the dog but at least he wouldnt catch anything else on fire.

After that incident I started to walk away when I saw my dog, CD (Cher Delite), riding a bicycle. That was very strange and my other dog, Lady, thought so too so she was running after CD and barking all the way down the street.

So that's the drunk dog off of oj dream. For a little while I was feeling creative and drawing dreams and I wanted to draw that dream. I have most of it done but I just havent been able to get in the right mood to finish it. One day...

Oh btw I had a Wonderfalls dream. I dreamt that I was part of the commentary track. Not very exciting but it felt nice being with the wonderfalls people to comment on scenes.

This seems like a good place to say:

Happy Belated Birthday, Fortune Teller!

Sorry it didn't go as well as it could have, but it's nice to hear you're happy. *s*

Dogtrot: As I said before, I may just start watching the various DVDs by myself. I'm very anxious to see Firefly (in the correct order *s*). You'll never believe the tangent hubby has gone off on! He discovered our library has the DVDs for the original Lost in Space, so he's been watching the episodes from the black & white pilot on. Nostalgia at it finest! *g* Unfortunately, it doesn't leave him time to watch anything else.
Last night, I got to see an episode of Veronica Mars that I'd missed the first time around. It was the one with the fake IDs. Very, very good, and I loved the twist as to who the culprit was. What a great show! (cc EmilyBoo)

Okay, got to run. {{Hugs}} to all!

Would you believe he refuses to sit on my lap while I post!!!

I see Gothic has told you about yesterday, it was my birthday and JJ had me up at 5am, and he only ever stopped crying when he was feeding (little sod! 'em sorry darling) anyway, Moose was changing the little screamers nappy when I decided to run round tidying up, bad Move. I knock the vase off the table, the wall fan off the wall, Jo rang and JJ bit me, what a birthday!!! And I missed the Angel rerun this morning!

But I love being a mum, I have never been happier, honest onions.

People ask me if I named James (JJ) after James Marsters but Moose (my hubbie) says no, Captain James T Kirk, I smile.

Anyway, I will pop in some time next week if I can.

Huggles to all

Ohhh I havent even thought about Wonderfalls for a dream. I havent had any interesting dreams lately but I've been having them. I had a couple nice dreams about my car. See what happens when I start liking it again. I got more offers on it from people that wanna buy it but too bad I'm not selling.
I'd love to dream about Wonderfalls though. I'd like to have a talking cow creamer. So far I've had dreams of being in Smallville, Joan of Arcadia, and Buffy the Vampire Slayer. I wish I could bring a video camera in my dreams because they'd make great episodes. I can at least draw some of them. I'm still working on my talking drunk off of oj dog dream picture before I do any other ones.

Okay, so I'm a little early. :D

Dogtrot: You're right, it is more fun to have company for a good show! Too many times I've wanted to say "Wow, did you see that?" or comment on a plot twist, but for some reason my cat isn't as interested in the programs I watch as I am. *g* (He does like to watch the dvd tray go in and out - he'll come running from another room to see it - but that's another story entirely.)
The nice thing about having a show on dvd is being able to share the "first time experience" with hubby. When we finally finish Wonderfalls, we'll be watching Firefly. I got it for Christmas, and still haven't seen it!

Watcher: I can't believe you haven't had a Wonderfalls dream yet! All those touristy trinkets in Hawaii, and none of them have started talking in your sleep? *g*

Emily: Veronica Mars is Dogtrot's favorite, too. *s* I have about nine or ten shows I really hate to miss right now. My "favorite" is whichever show is on that night and not a rerun. *g*

Corsa: I'm sorry you were sick during your vacation. :( Feeling better now?
Driving four hours in a snowstorm is pretty scary! Are you still getting the fluffy white stuff in the UK? (It snowed here again today! WTH - tomorrow is the first day of spring!)

I'm beginning to suspect people snuck off and got a life when I wasn't looking. Are those as nice as I've heard, or is it all over-rated hype? *s*

Happy Birthday Lionhunter!

Hope you have a great day! *s*

Dogtrot, Watcher, Emilyboo: I was waiting until I had a chance to see some more episodes of Wonderfalls so I could contribute to the conversation in an intelligent manner. It doesn't look like that will happen soon, since hubby and I are watching together, and he's been busy. Maybe I'll quit waiting and give in to temptation. Can we "do" Wonderfalls without using spoiler font? Don't know what the etiquitte is on canceled shows out on dvd.
Anyway.....{{hugs}} - 'cause it never hurts to leave those. *s*

Hi everyone! it's been a long time since I posted here, but many of you have heard from me more recently in LJ.

I am almost finished watching my Wonderfalls DVD's. I only have two episode commentaries left to go. I'm so sad that this show is no longer on the air, it is so good. I hope to see a movie... is that still a possibility? I also would like to see Caroline Dhavernas (sp?) and Tyron Leitso in other things soon.

I see there's been a lot of talk here about Veronica Mars as well. My favorite new show this season, it is so witty, and Kristen Bell is great! T'App, I hope you get a chance to get into it.

I know this is shocking news but seriously there is such a thing as "Too much of a good thing"!! We have had ridiculous amounts of snow (for the UK anyway) since I returned from the US. It actually took me four hours to drive home from work one day (a distance of 60 miles)! At one point I didn't think I was gonna make it and get stuck in the middle of nowhere in the middle of a blizzard. Eeek Anyway hopefully there will be no more this year, although Jaynbob has informed me there is more forecast for the weekend (at least I'm not working this weekend).

Almond I had a great time in the US as always, unfortunately I got sick while I was in NYC but Dogmeat did a great job of taking care of me!

TarasApp See my message to Almond about how my trip was. It was great to see some of the gang again but I am always sad I can't get to see everyone. :( Hopefully one or two people will be visiting me in the UK this year which is very exciting!!!

Rack Is Veronica Mars aired in the UK at all?? I didn't get to see it while I was in the US but I am kind of interested to see what all the fuss is about. LOL

I really loved Wonderfalls. At least the show did have a semi-satisfactory ending. But I could have settled into the Wonderfalls habit for years.

I hope VM is picked up for another season. Right now it's my favorite.

Really?!? What type of show - do you know? (We're talking new new, right - not the one that was canceled?)

I'm actually glad they're rerunning that particular VM episode. Daughter hasn't seen it, and she was asking me why the new boyfriend wasn't around in recent stories.

I read TWoP has a campaign going to try to save the show. TV Guide mentioned they're asking fans to print out fake $2 bills from the internet, write "Veronica Mars is smarter than me" on the back, and send them to UPN. (I guess it's an inside joke from an episode I missed about fake IDs.) I hope it works. I'm getting really tired of all the good shows being yanked off the air.
Hubby and I were watching a special feature on the Wonderfalls DVDs last night, and the whole time I kept saying, "I can't believe they canceled this show!" (I must have been very annoying! *s*)

Hello and {{hugs}} to everyone! Hope you all are doing okay!

I'm off to meet with a guy who might be buying my brother's Jeep later today. This will be fun, because the title never turned up when his apartment was cleared out. Much merriment and paperwork with the DMV ensues.

I watch Lost in real-time and Smallville later now - that's how wrapped up I am in the show. I blame you for this, you know. *g*
I love the back-stories, mainly because I'm still trying to get a sense of who the characters are so I can connect to them. Of course the way those flashes add to the over-all plot doesn't hurt, either. ;-)
I hope it doesn't become too "X-Files". I don't want the answer to it all to be aliens. That's too easy of a cop-out. Unspoiled speculation: I've read some fans think everyone died in the crash and they're all in a kind of purgatory. Conspiracy theorists say "experimental government island". I don't think that last one takes into account all the inter-weaving elements that led the passengers to the same flight, or how they began to become connected in various ways before they crashed together. It might be some combination of both, though. An experiment in psi powers let loose on the world to draw others there? That doesn't explain Claire's baby, though. Hmmm.....
The writing is great. I hope they draw out the mystery and continue the character developement.
I thought the "numbers" were a fascinating addition. I wondered if they would prove to be a phone number to some significant outside agency, but when I googled the area code it didn't exist - though it is being held in reserve for somewhere or something unknown. You could try calling it and see who you get. *eg*
*
I'm glad they are finally doing more with Hurley than have him say "Dude" at intervals. His story has let us see a whole new side to him. I also love that he connected so quickly with you-know-who. Then came back at the end and casually handed you-know-what to the others. *g*

Did you get to see AH on VM? Was she great? I understand the role was small but may be recurring.

Lost has definitely become a "must see" show for me. I think the writers have done amazing work with the back stories of the characters Everytime I see one I think it's the best yet.

The numbers thing has reallly introduced an "X-Files" like quality to the show. And it's so cool to have such an unconventonal character as Hurley being a major player.

Come celebrate with me - it's almost spring! It can't come soon enough. Both hubby and girl-not-a-child slipped on the ice yesterday. :(

A warning for those who tape Lost and Alias:
Tonight's episode of Lost will be running for an hour and 3 minutes. Alias will be 59 minutes long after that. Tape accordingly!

Watcher: Too bad you're not able to simulate "chatty" when needed - you missed an opportunity to pump him for spoilers! *g*
I haven't seen a movie at the theatre since the last Star Wars came out, so I doubt that I'll be seeing Constantine until it's out on dvd. I really want to see Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind and Finding Neverland, which I've heard are good. Of course I'm looking forward to Serenity, which I will go to the theatre for - though Grimma mentioned in her lj the release date was pushed back. :(
I think I need to start a List Of Recommended Current Movies and let people suggest what's worth spending time seeing - maybe in my lj. (Of course, anyone's welcome to chime in here. *s*) I haven't even seen the latest Harry Potter or Lord of the Rings yet!

Lost talk: It looks like it's going to be a good one tonight! (Yes, I watch previews. *s*) Plot developement and excitement abound! There's a rumor one of the main characters will be killed this season. Why am I not surprised? With Buffy people involved in the show, I think that would be a "given". *g*
I read the TV Guide, so I know why Hurley was on the television. I don't want to spoil anyone, but we find out in his back-story tonight.
*
It's nice to be excited about a TV show again. *s*

No Veronica Mars last night, though. What's up with that? If I wanted to watch models, I'd turn on the Style Channel!

I'm not sure what that guy did on Lost. I just remember that he worked on the sets and that he played an extra. I'm not a really chatty person and all I really thought and said was "cool" while I waited for the line to my movie to hurry up so I could get away from the chatty guy.
I watched Constantine by the way and the woman thought I wasn't old enough to buy an R rated ticket and carded me. I was like whoa! I'm 29! I probably look as much as a teenager as the guys on 90210. I thought the movie was okay.
Now the minor spoiler parts *All the speech that Jin heard after the fight was in english but it was being played backwards like on a record player in reverse. So I thought maybe that was the beginning of him understanding it. I'm not sure what Hurley was doing on the tv. It looked like he was on a commercial for car sales. It was just a very short clip of him standing outside of a car. *

Hiya Watcher!

I knew it was filmed in Hawaii, but it never occured to me you might be running into people from the show. That is very cool! Who did you meet? Did you get to talk to them about Lost? I'm not up on all the characters' names or the names of the actors who play them yet. Is Evangeline Lilly the one who plays Kate?

I missed most of what was going on during that beach scene. We had an "Amber alert" for a missing child in our area, so the show was interrupted off and on. The little girl was found safe and sound, though! In spoiler: So are you saying it looked as though something strange was already going on? What do you mean when you say "in reverse"? Like "rewinding"? Ha! Maybe my theory is right! I bet I'm right about the polar bear, too! Unless it was bunnies. *g*
I have noticed other people in the background during flashback scenes. I missed Hurley, though. Could you tell why he was on the tv? (I taped over the episode already! I'll have to start saving them longer, I guess.)
*
Now that I'm getting so caught up in this show, I wish I'd been watching it from the beginning. I've missed a couple of episodes, which makes it a little more difficult when formulating theories. *s*

A big "hello" to everyone else!

Almond notices the slightly dusty look of the good ol' Box, and decides to do a little something about that. Donning a hat suspiciously like Mickey's in Fantasia, she waves a hand in a meaningful manner. A broom marches in from the back and begins sweeping the floor. Feeling a bit more confident, she motions to the scattered decorations from Holidays Past, which stir to life and obediently hop into an empty box. She does not see the goat peering around the shelves, nor would she have paid it any mind if she had. Feeling quite cocky now, she summons a bucket and cloth and gestures toward the windows. Unfortunately, she lets herself become distracted from the broom, which immediately begins waltzing about the middle of the room - enticing the goat to join in the dance. Noticing the serious lack of work going on, she commands, "Stop that at once!" Both broom and goat pause, and an evil glint comes to the quadruped's eye. She begins to back slowly toward the door as they start their advance. She raises a hand to summon the magic, but the misbegotten creatures rush her in unison! Whirling, she bolts for the door - leaving her hat to float gently to the floor behind her.

Hiya Almond. I guess I better do the spoiler font here but did you notice * that after the fight, Jin was watching everyone talk and all their voices were playing in reverse? And Hurley was on the tv during one of the Jin flashbacks. In just about all the flashbacks there's someone else from the island in the background. They're all connected.*
Anyway Lost is one of my favorite shows partly because its filmed here and the sound stage isnt too far away from me. And the beach they're on is where we used to have parties and camp out on. And then I met a person that works on the show recently. I was just a little disappointed that it wasnt Evangeline Lilly though!

We bought the dvd set yesterday. I'd be doing a happy dance, but I just woke up, and I haven't had my recommended daily dosage of coffee yet. *s*
We watched "Wax Lion" and "Pink Flamingos" with hubby's oldest son as soon as we got home, which were the first two episodes on the set. I was right about one thing I'd heard and mentioned here - they did show the episodes we saw on tv out of order. According to the order on the set, "PF" should have been shown second, but it was shown last after "WL", "Karma Chameleon" and "Wound-up Penguin". I'm going to pay attention as we watch the next two episodes and see if this disrupted the continuity of the show.

tarasApprentice: I haven't heard about VM being released on dvd, but I'm sure Rack (and perhaps some others here) will be thrilled to learn that the first (and only?) season of Tru Calling is out on dvd. Lost is supposed to be coming out in September.
That's so cool about getting to meet Brian Turk! I've heard good things of Carnivale, but I haven't seen it, since it's on a cable channel we don't get.

"Lost" talk: (in spoiler, of course) * Now that it's been revealed to the whole group that Sun (that's her name, right?) can speak English, her husband will be the odd man out in the group in future episodes - especially since they've split up and she won't be near-by to translate. This got me to thinking - we saw him begin to use a little English when he said "boat" to Micheal at the end of the last episode. Does anyone think the island is going to pull another "mysterious miracle" (like the "Locke can suddenly walk" thing) and have him learn the language at an accelerated rate? The actor is too good to waste in a fringe role. (He was "Gavin" on AtS, you know.)
I totally saw the "boy burned the boat" coming. He did not look happy when his dad was talking about leaving.
* I hope this show is shown in other countries next year, so we can all talk about it. I think Kung Fu and Gabriella might be especially interested, since there are so many flashbacks to the characters' time in Sydney pre-crash.

Lurking a bit this morning......

It's "President's Day" today. Does anyone in the States know if that means the banks are closed? I really don't have time to be inconvenienced by a couple of dead presidents today. Speaking of dead people...

I just saw on the news that Sandra Dee died. This makes me a little sad. Does anyone but me feel their childhood slipping away into ancient history with her passing? She played the original Gidget in the movies, as well as doing all those fun romantic comedies. If you don't remember her from any of that, you must know her name from Grease - there was a whole song about her in that! Nobody? Just me then...

Corsa: Welcome back! I don't care if you bring bad weather with you. My world's a more exciting place just knowing you're in the country. (By the way, it snowed by us, too! *g*) Hope you have a great visit!

tarasApprentice: We checked to see if Wal-Mart had Wonderfalls yesterday. Of course they didn't, but I had fun pretending to be very surprised and questioning the ordering abilities of whoever stocks their dvd section. I left the two clerks who were working in electronics pouring over their "new release" book trying to figure out why they didn't have a customer requested item. (They seemed slightly upset when I turned to hubby and said, "Well, I guess we'll just have to get it at Sam Goodey then.") *g* I'm a mean person.

Watcher: Thank you for fixing my boo-boo. *s*

*leaves a freshly washed hiefer for the long-missing Fire Goddess and wonders what happened to the World Domination plan - was it called on account of snow?*

I thought I'd pop in a day early and do my Track of the Week. I've been listening to the Norah Jones cd we gave my Dad for Christmas. I love the combination of her great voice and the understated piano accompanying her in the background. The song Don't Know Why particularly touches me. So sad and contemplative.

I watched Eliza Dushku on That '70s Show last night. (Don't worry, I was taping both Smallville and Lost.) She was very good. She was not at all Faith-like. She did not wear a bikini. Also, she seems to be getting younger.

Gothic: If I ever get to Egypt, I'll definitely do the hot air balloon ride. Then I'll be able to check two things off my Things I've Always Wanted To Do list. *s*

Mazzy: Be sure to say "hi" to Corsa for me. *s*
Your plans sound fun. I prefer the sort of casual, easy-going get-togethers you described. It gives people more of a chance to relax and talk.

Sara Gilbert has been playing an intern on ER this season. Her parts have been getting bigger in the last few episodes. She looks to be a regular.

Grimma: My daughter made an observation I agreed with last time we were watching Point Pleasant together. She said they're moving things along too fast - not letting the plot and characters develop over time. (I think Buffy may have spoiled her for ordinary television. *s*) We both agreed it feels as though they're afraid the show will be canceled soon and are trying to tell as much story as they can before that happens. I still think the idea is interesting. I like the way the actress playing the main character (don't know her name) gives us a sense of the sweet, good person at odds with the evil half ruled by sudden emotions. I find the "big bad" interesting, too. He's subtle - just a push here and a nudge there. He gives the people in the town opportunities, then stands back as their worse natures take over.

Dogtrot: I don't think I'll be shelling out money for Lost DVDs anytime soon. I still have too many seasons of Buffy to buy first! *g*

Veronica Mars talk (spoiler fonted for the protection of the unwary):
I really like this show! I find almost all the characters interesting, except perhaps her ex-boyfriend. He started out okay, but has become a bit of a zombie lately. Personally, I don't care if he was calling out her name in the hospital. I'd rather see her get together with Logan. I like the complexity of his character. His seething-beneath-the-surface anger with his abusive father, his bonding with and support of Weevil, his moments of vulnerability with Veronica (especially when making Lily's tribute film) and his sense of humor - edged as it is.
I also like Lily's ghostly appearances. I hope they continue those. I love the way we get bits and pieces of the story behind her murder in almost every episode, but it doesn't interfere with the story of the week.
There's just so much going on with this show. Veronica's story unravels slowly but surely, too. And you know that eventually everything will tie together, but at this point it really isn't obvious how.
* ( cc Mazzy, Grimma, Dogtrot, and anyone else who's watching)

Almond - I did indeed see The Valley of the Kings, and the Valley of the Queens, and King Tut's treasure, and we went on a hot air balloon ride over the ruins! It was really cool, would recommend it!

Mazzy - {{HUGSS}} back! I'm not that young! Feel ancient at the mo!

Grimma - he's always made his presence known, even when he was in the womb! Always went mad when she played Avril Lavigne - Sk8er boi! LOL

I'll pass on everyone's good wishes. FT and J J are both home now, and I'm really looking forward to Sunday as Daniel and J J are going to meet for the first time! It'll be so cool to see them together!

Here's the answers to the quiz:

1. What special occasion is next on your calendar?
either J J and Daniel meeting on Sunday, or my cousin's party in March - she's just got engaged!

2. Do you have a summer project this year, and have you actually started it?
I'm trying to label up my hundreds of digital photos since last year and make cd's for everyone. It's taking ages!

3. Which current TV show has caused you to have a "Buffy moment"?
I don't understand that question, although I thought Joan of Arcadia was quite Buffy-esque. Hope they do a new series soon.

4. Have you kept your New Years Resolutions?
didn't make any this year

Also, FT bought me Buffy series one on DVD for my birthday so I've finally got the whole set (up to series seven) and I'm gonna start from the beginning and watch them all over again! eep! haven't actually seen them all in ages.

It's kind of sad here without them!

Corsa arrived safely in NYC. I just talked to her. The weather went from really nice to crappy and rainy (seriously! Really! I'm not lying!).

dogtrot I actually have NOT heard any Alexis news recently. I've no idea what he's up to. I am excited for Aly on VM. I really like that show a lot. Last night's episode was very good. I enjoyed seeing her in the previews for next week. *squee*

Grimma LOL at your not liking Pt Pleasant. It does kind of suck.

Waow, it looks like "little" James Joseph wanted his entry in the World to attract a lot of attention :-) Good for him - I hope both mom and baby are ok and resting.

1. What special occasion is next on your calendar?
Visit a high school friend in March.

2. Do you have a summer project this year, and have you actually started it?
No summer project. My future is blurred, I can't decide to do anything in more than 3 months.

3. Which current TV show has caused you to have a "Buffy moment"?
Veronica Mars. (I thought Point Pleasant would do hat too, but it's too bad to cause any moment)

4. Have you kept your New Years Resolutions?
Not really, but still working on that

I'd heard pretty much the same thing about AH and that tv show. At least she will be on VM next week. Have you heard anything about Alexis Denisoff being in movies or on tv?

Glad you are enjoying Veronica Mars and Lost! I think VM is a much better show than One Tree Hill (which I actually watched the first season--it has degenerated). The rats will always find a way to get $ out of us though.

Yes, I scrolled. It was a short scroll, but still!

Almond Not many big plans with corsa I've invited her, Dogmeat, Peace Fire and Marsgirl over to my place for a little shindig (brie and mellow song stylings) on Friday evening. Don't know if they'll all make it. Then on Sunday, a bunch of us will meet up in NYC for lunch and a nice walk (hopefully). Bufidiot mentioned about this architectural thing called The Gates up in Central Park. Maybe we'll go take a look.

I love Veronica Mars. I think it's just kind of fun and intersting. I think she and her Dad make the whole show though. I like Weevil, but I want more from the other characters. I don't know, they don't seem as "deep" or as complex.

I believe Aly H is gonna be on either this week (tonight?) or next week. Not absolutley sure. I'll watch both though.

I DON'T think I will be watching That 70's show with ED because I usually watch Lost.

As far as the sitcom Aly was supposed to be in, she shot a pilot with Jennifer Love Hewitt and Ed O'Neill. She was playing JLH's best friend. The series was to be picked up for mid-season replacement, but they had changed so much that Aly didn't want to be involved anymore and she was replaced by Sara Gilbert (of Roseanne). But I just read that the series all together has been scrapped. I real all this in various articles over at buffy.nu which is a great source of Buffy news. cc dogtrot

Gothic Woman {{HUGSS}} It's been an age! You are so young! Man! What a birthday. I was over 9 lbs too when I was born (scary!). I'm glad FT made it through all right. Tell her we are happy for her and hope she feels better soon.

I'm quite envious over your trip to Egypt. I've always wanted to see the pyramids and Sphinx (of course with an Indiana Jones type guy at my side *g*)

Must go see about dinner now!

For some reason, MSN considers this newsworthy:

How much fat is in strawberries? so I thought of only one person. Not that he needs to worry about this. Still I thought it interesting that they would go to the trouble...

corsa_am is coming to America. *aackk!!*

Eliza Dushku is going to be on That '70s Show tomorrow night! I understand there will be bikinis involved. (cc Rack)

Congratulations Fortune Teller!

I hope you and your little boy are both doing well.

I want to thank Kung Fu and Mazzy for doing my quiz. At least it filled some space, right? And it's nice to see what people have been up to lately. {Not everyone does informative posts like Gothic.)

Mazzy: Do Corsa and you have big plans for her latest visit? Other than visiting Dogmeat, of course!

Kung Fu: I'm afraid to ask how you did in round two, because I'm sure you would have told us the good news if you'd made it. Unless you're busy getting things in order so you can start school....

Gothic: I envy you your trip to Egypt. That's one place I've always wanted to go. Did you see The Valley of the Kings?

Thank you, Watcher, for being our Fairy Godfather! What would we do without you? Besides wander around aimlessly - unable to post.

Grimma: It's wonderful to see you here! Stop by again - and bring Clem. He can chase the goat. *s*

Dogtrot: My memory is a bit faulty lately, but I seem to recall tarasApprentice going to a screening of AH's sitcom. Maybe she's heard the recent status on that project.
I've been working on getting Girl-Not-A-Child interested in VM. If I tape it, she will watch it. Looks over her shoulder for Kevin Costner....doesn't see him. I'm trying to wean her away from One Tree Hill, which has become a terrible show. Soap City and very bad modeling.
Hubby and I are now devotees of Lost. The TV Guide had an article that caught us up on missed episodes. I read something disturbing recently, though. They are bringing out the first season on dvd in September, and plan on including a segment explaining why the plane crashed. Only those who buy the dvd get this information! Seems unfair to me....

Where the heck is Gabriella?

Hope everyone had a nice Valentine's Day. Mine sucked, but I did get a heart-shaped box of chocolate. Yay hubby!

Hey peeps! Thanks for all your good wishes about my nephew. I am loving being an aunty!
I just wanted to let you know I am back from holiday now. I really enjoyed Egypt, we saw lots of tombs, the pyramids and the sphinx, and also had some time to relax.

I got back last Wednesday, and on the Friday, it was my 23rd birthday and my sister (Fortune Teller / Suzie) was induced, so I spent the night worrying about her. She told me to go out and enjoy myself, which I tried to do, but I ended up getting my mobile phone stolen. Grr! Was not impressed!

Anyhoo, I was up the hospital all Saturday night, supporting my sister, and the baby was born at 14:15 on Sunday afternoon (in time for lunch!) It was a boy - James Joseph - and he weighed 9 pounds 11! He was so big, he got stuck and had to be resuscitated and spend the night in Special Care Baby Unit. However, apart from an infection due to the difficult birth and a very sore shoulder, he's fine now. He's a lovely boy, and Suzanne is OK, apart from being rather sore! All's well that ends well!
