Emily,

From what I've read Amber will be playing "Allison" in episode #1 called "The Perfect Couple." I can't wait to see her :)

To Everyone in the US Don't forget that The Inside premieres tonight!

No messages here in a while, is the demon still acting up? Anywho, I see that the Inside starts tomorrow. I will be watching, even though it's on Fox. Hubby thinks it looks like Fox's answer to Medium. Any idea when Amber Benson's episode is set to air?

Watcher: Hope that you're settling into your new homestead okay. I'm opted for the Skype VOIP system having had a quick look at Vonage. Vonage does have some benefits in that you don't need to have your p.c. on to make and receive calls and you also get the equipment for free plus you get a proper phone number, but the package that they have for calling normal land lines is £9.99 a month. I'm not a heavy phone user so that was more than I would use in calls anyway.

I brought a VOIP adaptor box off eBay that allows you to connect to your computers USB and your land line. To make calls to normal land lines Skype sell credit in 10 euro blocks (about £7.00 or $12.60 and lasts for 180 days) and calls work out at about 2 euro cents (about 1.5 pence or 2.5 cents) per minute. Plus it's that same low rate for phoning most places abroad - but I notice that Hawaii and Alaska are exceptions for calls to the US, guess that there have to be some drawbacks for living in such a paradise.

But as you say there are disadvantages to VOIP telephony and I'm not too sure if you could rely on it as your sole means of communication. However, if you have relatives/friends abroad it is a good way to keep in voice contact at a more affordable price.

Should anyone else be interested, click on this for Skype's website and click on this for the Vonage website. There are other VOIP providers, e.g. Packet8, but these two seem to amongst the biggest and most popular.

Hey Rack, I've been looking into VoIP also. I just moved into a new house and right now I'm only using my cell phone but it would be nice to have a "regular" phone also. The only problems I've heard were things like if your power or internet connection goes out then you have no phone
On the otherhand, phone calls are cheap/free and with Vonage you can take your box with you when you travel and use it wherever there's a broadband conection.
Unfortunately Vonage isnt availabe here in Hawaii. Although our cable company offers digital phone service for $39.99/month while Vonage has it for $24.99 with cheaper international rates. Oh well... There was a time when it was free. Wonder why it cant be like that now.

tarasApprentice Joan of Arcadia has just started the second season on Livingtv (home of Teddy’s favourite Charmed). Second episode airs at 6.00pm (repeated at 7.00 on Livingtv+1) on Monday if any one in the UK wishes to catch what will be the final season.
Oh well, I guess it gives God more time to hang at Disney now.

Revelations, which I remember you mentioned once, also started last week over here. One of the reasons why I think that JoA failed was because there was no bad guy (or girl). Where as with Revelations in the first episode a girl has her heart cut out by Satanists and Gods hits another girl with lightening, rendering her brain dead with a couple of fillings lodged in the motor area of her brain. 1-1 so far on teenage girls, but the Satanist have enlisted Fred Durst from Limp Bizkit as a villain in the second episode. As everyone knows; "the Devil has the best music".

Revelations, which depicts the end of days as foretold in ummm..well Revelations, airs on Sky One on Tuesdays at 10 pm on Tuesday’s in the UK.

Don’t know if any of those sitcoms will make it over the pond, or even if they will make it full stop. I’ll keep an eye out for them.

No, last season they were on different nights, VM at 9pm on Tuesdays and Lost at 8pm on Wednesday. I see theat UPN has decided to insure VM's demise by putting it head to head with Lost. I'll probably watch VM and tape Lost for later viewing. But, aargh!

First, I have a question for you Lost and Veronica Mars viewers: were the shows always on at the same time? Because I notice they go against one another in the "fall" tv lineup and that earns my "that sucks" stamp of approval.

Buffyverse people will starring in all sorts of shows come September:

"Bones." (Fox) Hourlong, created by writer Hart Hanson (“Judging Amy,” “Joan of Arcadia”), about a forensic anthropologist and an FBI agent who team up to solve murders. It stars Emily Deschanel (“Spider-Man 2,” “Boogeyman”), David Boreanaz (“Angel”) , Michaela Conlin (“The D.A.”), Jonathan Adams (“American Dreams”) and T.J. Thyne (“Ghost World,” “How High”).

I'm wondering of SMG will make an apperance on this disaster to be:

"Freddie." (ABC) Sitcom, written by Freddie Prinze Jr. (!) seriously?? and someone named Conrad Jackson, about a successful chef raised by females. With Prinze (“Scooby Doo 2”), Megyn Price (“Grounded For Life”), Jenny Gago (“Coach Carter”), Jacqueline Obradors (“NYPD Blue”) and Brian Austin Green (“Beverly Hills 90210”).

"How I Met Your Mother." (CBS) Sitcom, from writers Carer Bays & Craig Thomas (“Last Show With David Letterman,” “American Dad”), about a man who recounts to his kids the story of their parents’ courtship. It stars Alyson Hannigan (“Buffy the Vampire Slayer”) , Neil Patrick Harris (“Doogie Howser, M.D.”), Jason Segal (“Freaks & Geeks”) and Josh Radnor (“The Court”).

Ooh, Willow and Doogie Howser! I bet Willow is simply dying :P

"Kitchen Confidential." (Fox) Sitcom, created by David Hemingson (“Just Shoot Me!” “Jesse”), about a “bad-boy” New York chef. It stars Bradley Cooper (“Alias”), Jaime King (“Sin City”), Nicholas Brendon (“Buffy the Vampire Slayer”) , John Francis Daley (“Freaks and Geeks”), John Cho (“Harold and Kumar Go To White Castle”), Frank Langella (“Unscripted”), Bonnie Sommerville (“NYPD Blue”), Sam Pancake (“Legally Blonde 2”) and Owain Yeoman (“Troy”).

Normally I dislike sitcoms. I may actually watch those. We shall see.

Anyone going to be watching these shows?

UPN people - they're here *s*

Thanks so much for sharing the picture of fortune teller's little one!

Joan Of Arcadia was cancelled, if you haven't heard already.

I come bearing news of things:

Amber Benson will be showing some clips from her new film (as yet untitled) , in London. You can catch a trailer at the Benson Entertainment site. She's filming a guest spot on Tim Minear and Jane Espenson's new show The Inside which stars the wonderful Katie Finneran from the second greatest show that ever was :P ; Wonderfalls

The show premieres on June 8th on FOX aka The Devil.

I'd like to watch but it's on FOX. Quandry.

I'll be going to Comic Con again this year and looking forward to that.

Is it September yet?

Well okay it's Friday and I know that you missed it last week from the tears that welled up in your eyes. But it's here for this week so don't fret too much...Rack's track of the week is Left behind by Slipknot

Slipknot in some ways remind me a little of Slayer, although why I can't say. Still this is a prime example that nu-metal isn't all that bad, even if there seems to be no widdly widdly guitar solos anymore. Taken from the bands "Iowa" album this is a great heads down no nonsense song to mosh around the living room too. Teddy has a theory that as the band hail from Iowa as does Riley Finn he could be in the band and to avoid being recognised suggested that they adopt the wearing of masks. What other reason could there be?

Whilst I'm here, I've been looking into VOIP (Voice Over Internet Protocol) phones with a possible view to getting one. VOIP is a means for using your broadband connection for free calls to other VOIP subscribers (Skype, Vonage etc.) and greatly reduced calls to landlines, even those overseas. You can either turn your pc into what is termed a "soft phone" (i.e. you use a microphone and speakers or a headset with a mic), buy a VOIP phone ("hard phone") that plugs into a USB port on your computer or an adapter that plugs into a USB on your computer and your existing phone socket so you can use your normal push button phone.

I just wondered if anyone here had one or knew of anyone who had/has one and if they are any good.

Certainly has been quiet here lately...

Anyways as some of you are St*r W*rs fans I thought that I'd mention that on May 16th in London they are screening all six St*r W*rs flicks for the first and possibly last time, in release date order. Basically, you get to see "Revenge of the Sith" on the same night as the official UK premier and some three days prior to the worldwide release date of May 19th.

Only 1000 tickets were available for this unique event where it is rumoured George Lucas will introduce the screening of the last film "Revenge.." at the UCI Empire and these sold out in minutes.
Naturally I managed to obtain one, but rather than be bored stiff watching five films I've already seen and avoid being disappointed with the final prequel I decided to flog my ticket on eBay.

I've already made a 200% profit on it and the auction hasn't closed yet. I like st*r w*rs fans.

I know that you've been missing this. Those withdrawal symptoms are a give-a-away as much as the twitch in your left eye. But fear not it is back...Rack's track of the week

In sort of keeping with a vague space theme this weeks offering is Learn to Fly by The Foo Fighters

I was never really into Nirvana, more a case of hype over real substance in my mind. But Dave Grohl has in the decade or so since Mr Cobain when off in search of his own private Nirvana assembled a pretty decent outfit that is more than capable of producing a top notch recordings. Learn to Fly is a prime example of this.
It's a bit of a diversion from the Foo's norm, almost straying into soft rock airspace. However, there is more melody in the fuel tank that you'd probably expect from the Fighters. Still, this is a perfect tract to listen too if you're driving home late one night and have somehow conspired to get yourself lost. Not that has ever happened to me...well not since...

BTW the Foo Fighters have a new album out mid June called "In Your Honor" and features a collaboration with Led Zeppelin basest John Paul Jones.

Just popping in to say hello! How are all you Magic Boxers?

Is that the official term? It's weird that there's no more Buffy talk and there are all these other great shows that are piquing our interests. It's a somewhat divergent fan base, but it's still nice to see familiar faces in here.

So a big plate of chocolate chip cookies (and a small plate of strawberries) to all of you!

It's 1 am and I need sleep, but I'm glad I popped in.

Lately I've been watching Veronica Mars, Lost (though in repeats *grr*), Desperate Housewives, Grey's Anatomy, Felicity repeats, American Idol, The Apprentice.

But I'm looking forward to summertime when I can go outside more and get some fresh air.

Ok, I'm sleepy now and probably not making much sense.

So take care and {{{HUGS}}} to everyone!!

I've also heard this might be the end of JoA. Apparently there has been a big drop off in viewership. For my taste, I could have done without the new "character". I liked the show the way it was. Almond backs through the front door pulling a wheeled cart with a huge cake balanced precariously on it. Three layers of scrumptious fun blazing with candles! Scrawled across the top in blue icing is:
Happy Birthday Dogtrot!
Placing the cake on the counter, she begins to lay out plates, napkins and forks. Just as she finishes her display, a beeping noise is heard. The candles have set off the smoke alarm! Water begins to fall from the ceiling as the automatic sprinkler system cuts in.....

Sorry about that, Dogtrot! Have some anyway? *g* You are going to tell us all about your fun day, right?

Lots of long-overdue responses to make, now that we're up and running again. That will have to wait a bit, though. We're taking daughter to the doctor this morning, so I need to get dressed. A couple of quick things for now:

Gothic: Thank you for the pictures of the nephews. They're adorable! According to Rack's "tips page", to post a picture the code is:

Just use < > instead of [ ]. I've never tried it, though. I'm not sure if the Magic Box will support pictures as big as the ones you sent me.
Feel better, sweetie!

Kung Fu: I'm sorry the door-to-door thing was a bust. What were you selling?
You aren't giving up on school, are you? Can you still go next year?
Have some cake. Cake makes up for almost anything! *s*

I have a '66 mustang. I bought it in Vegas and brought it with me to Hawaii because it was cheaper than buying a new car. Then we bought a "new" one anyway because it was such a good deal. A '67 Mustang convertible. Everyone wants to buy that one too.

I just watched The Cat Returns in English and there's this cow clock that I'd like. When the alarm goes off the tail moves up and down. The Cat Returns is an anime film released by Studio Ghibli in Japan and released here on dvd by Disney. Cows are just so funny though. We sent faeriegirl a cow that pooped brown jelly beans before. I shouldve bought one for myself. Maybe next time.

As for the drunk dog dream... I had a dream I was in downtown Vegas a long time ago. There was this empty lot with a dog lying down near an empty water bowl. He looked kinda sick. I walked by him when the dog told me he was drunk off of orange juice. Strange but wasnt too weird for me in the dream. As I was walking away the dog spontaneously burst into flames. I tried my best to put the fire out but it kept on burning. I starting shoveling dirt with my hands to try to smother the fire... I looked away for one second to check my shoveling and hands and when I turned back the dog was completely buried and still burning. There was nothing else I could do for the dog but at least he wouldnt catch anything else on fire.

After that incident I started to walk away when I saw my dog, CD (Cher Delite), riding a bicycle. That was very strange and my other dog, Lady, thought so too so she was running after CD and barking all the way down the street.

So that's the drunk dog off of oj dream. For a little while I was feeling creative and drawing dreams and I wanted to draw that dream. I have most of it done but I just havent been able to get in the right mood to finish it. One day...

Oh btw I had a Wonderfalls dream. I dreamt that I was part of the commentary track. Not very exciting but it felt nice being with the wonderfalls people to comment on scenes.

Unfortunately, hubby is not usually interested in the same shows as me, so I have no one to watch Wonderfalls with. At least I can talk about it with you and T'App once you get caught up.

I didn't watch it last night, but I love that episode of VM. The "Veronica Mars is smarter than me" part is great.

Oh yeah, I have a lot of "favorite" shows too. ;)

The results are in for Kristin's Save Our Show poll. It's good news - go read!

Watcher: What kind of car do you have? Don't get too technical - I know nothing about cars! *g*
I can't help you with the talking cow creamer, but I did once see a cow cookie jar that "mooed" when you tipped its head back to get a cookie. Shall I hunt one down for you? *s*
"I'm still working on my talking drunk off of oj dog dream picture before I do any other ones."
Um.....what?

Gothic: Between all the babies, family occasions, and your course, you sound very busy! I'm glad you could stop by to say hello. *s*
Thanks for the weather update. In return, I'm leaving this just for you (and Fortune, of course!):

This seems like a good place to say:

Happy Belated Birthday, Fortune Teller!

Sorry it didn't go as well as it could have, but it's nice to hear you're happy. *s*

Dogtrot: As I said before, I may just start watching the various DVDs by myself. I'm very anxious to see Firefly (in the correct order *s*). You'll never believe the tangent hubby has gone off on! He discovered our library has the DVDs for the original Lost in Space, so he's been watching the episodes from the black & white pilot on. Nostalgia at it finest! *g* Unfortunately, it doesn't leave him time to watch anything else.
Last night, I got to see an episode of Veronica Mars that I'd missed the first time around. It was the one with the fake IDs. Very, very good, and I loved the twist as to who the culprit was. What a great show! (cc EmilyBoo)

Okay, got to run. {{Hugs}} to all!

Hi Everybody,

Just a quick post whilst JJ is sleeping to thank everyone for their Good wishes and stuff. Sorry I don't post very often, I still pop into the box every now and again, but by the time I have scrolled JJ has woken up and demands my full attention. Would you believe he refuses to sit on my lap while I post!!!

I see Gothic has told you about yesterday, it was my birthday and JJ had me up at 5am, and he only ever stopped crying when he was feeding (little sod! 'em sorry darling) anyway, Moose was changing the little screamers nappy when I decided to run round tidying up, bad Move. I knock the vase off the table, the wall fan off the wall, Jo rang and JJ bit me, what a birthday!!! And I missed the Angel rerun this morning!

But I love being a mum, I have never been happier, honest onions.

People ask me if I named James (JJ) after James Marsters but Moose (my hubbie) says no, Captain James T Kirk, I smile.

Anyway, I will pop in some time next week if I can.

Huggles to all

Ohhh I havent even thought about Wonderfalls for a dream. I havent had any interesting dreams lately but I've been having them. I had a couple nice dreams about my car. See what happens when I start liking it again. I got more offers on it from people that wanna buy it but too bad I'm not selling.
I'd love to dream about Wonderfalls though. I'd like to have a talking cow creamer. So far I've had dreams of being in Smallville, Joan of Arcadia, and Buffy the Vampire Slayer. I wish I could bring a video camera in my dreams because they'd make great episodes. I can at least draw some of them. I'm still working on my talking drunk off of oj dog dream picture before I do any other ones.

Okay, so I'm a little early. :D

Dogtrot: You're right, it is more fun to have company for a good show! Too many times I've wanted to say "Wow, did you see that?" or comment on a plot twist, but for some reason my cat isn't as interested in the programs I watch as I am. *g* (He does like to watch the dvd tray go in and out - he'll come running from another room to see it - but that's another story entirely.)
The nice thing about having a show on dvd is being able to share the "first time experience" with hubby. When we finally finish Wonderfalls, we'll be watching Firefly. I got it for Christmas, and still haven't seen it!

Watcher: I can't believe you haven't had a Wonderfalls dream yet! All those touristy trinkets in Hawaii, and none of them have started talking in your sleep? *g*

Emily: Veronica Mars is Dogtrot's favorite, too. *s* I have about nine or ten shows I really hate to miss right now. My "favorite" is whichever show is on that night and not a rerun. *g*

Corsa: I'm sorry you were sick during your vacation. :( Feeling better now?
Driving four hours in a snowstorm is pretty scary! Are you still getting the fluffy white stuff in the UK? (It snowed here again today! WTH - tomorrow is the first day of spring!)

I'm beginning to suspect people snuck off and got a life when I wasn't looking. Are those as nice as I've heard, or is it all over-rated hype? *s*

Happy Birthday Lionhunter!

Hope you have a great day! *s*

Dogtrot, Watcher, Emilyboo: I was waiting until I had a chance to see some more episodes of Wonderfalls so I could contribute to the conversation in an intelligent manner. It doesn't look like that will happen soon, since hubby and I are watching together, and he's been busy. Maybe I'll quit waiting and give in to temptation. Can we "do" Wonderfalls without using spoiler font? Don't know what the etiquitte is on canceled shows out on dvd.
Anyway.....{{hugs}} - 'cause it never hurts to leave those. *s*

Hi everyone! it's been a long time since I posted here, but many of you have heard from me more recently in LJ.

I am almost finished watching my Wonderfalls DVD's. I only have two episode commentaries left to go. I'm so sad that this show is no longer on the air, it is so good. I hope to see a movie... is that still a possibility? I also would like to see Caroline Dhavernas (sp?) and Tyron Leitso in other things soon.

I see there's been a lot of talk here about Veronica Mars as well. My favorite new show this season, it is so witty, and Kristen Bell is great! T'App, I hope you get a chance to get into it.

I know this is shocking news but seriously there is such a thing as "Too much of a good thing"!! We have had ridiculous amounts of snow (for the UK anyway) since I returned from the US. It actually took me four hours to drive home from work one day (a distance of 60 miles)! At one point I didn't think I was gonna make it and get stuck in the middle of nowhere in the middle of a blizzard. Eeek Anyway hopefully there will be no more this year, although Jaynbob has informed me there is more forecast for the weekend (at least I'm not working this weekend).

Almond I had a great time in the US as always, unfortunately I got sick while I was in NYC but Dogmeat did a great job of taking care of me!

TarasApp See my message to Almond about how my trip was. It was great to see some of the gang again but I am always sad I can't get to see everyone. :( Hopefully one or two people will be visiting me in the UK this year which is very exciting!!!

Rack Is Veronica Mars aired in the UK at all?? I didn't get to see it while I was in the US but I am kind of interested to see what all the fuss is about. LOL

I really loved Wonderfalls. At least the show did have a semi-satisfactory ending. But I could have settled into the Wonderfalls habit for years.

I hope VM is picked up for another season. Right now it's my favorite.

Really?!? What type of show - do you know? (We're talking new new, right - not the one that was canceled?)

I'm actually glad they're rerunning that particular VM episode. Daughter hasn't seen it, and she was asking me why the new boyfriend wasn't around in recent stories.

I read TWoP has a campaign going to try to save the show. TV Guide mentioned they're asking fans to print out fake $2 bills from the internet, write "Veronica Mars is smarter than me" on the back, and send them to UPN. (I guess it's an inside joke from an episode I missed about fake IDs.) I hope it works. I'm getting really tired of all the good shows being yanked off the air.
Hubby and I were watching a special feature on the Wonderfalls DVDs last night, and the whole time I kept saying, "I can't believe they canceled this show!" (I must have been very annoying! *s*)

Hello and {{hugs}} to everyone! Hope you all are doing okay!

I'm off to meet with a guy who might be buying my brother's Jeep later today. This will be fun, because the title never turned up when his apartment was cleared out. Much merriment and paperwork with the DMV ensues.

I watch Lost in real-time and Smallville later now - that's how wrapped up I am in the show. I blame you for this, you know. *g*
I love the back-stories, mainly because I'm still trying to get a sense of who the characters are so I can connect to them. Of course the way those flashes add to the over-all plot doesn't hurt, either. ;-)
I hope it doesn't become too "X-Files". I don't want the answer to it all to be aliens. That's too easy of a cop-out. Unspoiled speculation: I've read some fans think everyone died in the crash and they're all in a kind of purgatory. Conspiracy theorists say "experimental government island". I don't think that last one takes into account all the inter-weaving elements that led the passengers to the same flight, or how they began to become connected in various ways before they crashed together. It might be some combination of both, though. An experiment in psi powers let loose on the world to draw others there? That doesn't explain Claire's baby, though. Hmmm.....
The writing is great. I hope they draw out the mystery and continue the character developement.
I thought the "numbers" were a fascinating addition. I wondered if they would prove to be a phone number to some significant outside agency, but when I googled the area code it didn't exist - though it is being held in reserve for somewhere or something unknown. You could try calling it and see who you get. *eg*
*
I'm glad they are finally doing more with Hurley than have him say "Dude" at intervals. His story has let us see a whole new side to him. I also love that he connected so quickly with you-know-who. Then came back at the end and casually handed you-know-what to the others. *g*

Did you get to see AH on VM? Was she great? I understand the role was small but may be recurring.

Lost has definitely become a "must see" show for me. I think the writers have done amazing work with the back stories of the characters Everytime I see one I think it's the best yet.

The numbers thing has reallly introduced an "X-Files" like quality to the show. And it's so cool to have such an unconventonal character as Hurley being a major player.

Mornin', all! Happy March!
Almond sets a plate of cookies shaped like crazy rabbits on the counter.
Come celebrate with me - it's almost spring! It can't come soon enough. Both hubby and girl-not-a-child slipped on the ice yesterday. :(

A warning for those who tape Lost and Alias:
Tonight's episode of Lost will be running for an hour and 3 minutes. Alias will be 59 minutes long after that. Tape accordingly!

Watcher: Too bad you're not able to simulate "chatty" when needed - you missed an opportunity to pump him for spoilers! *g*
I haven't seen a movie at the theatre since the last Star Wars came out, so I doubt that I'll be seeing Constantine until it's out on dvd. I really want to see Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind and Finding Neverland, which I've heard are good. Of course I'm looking forward to Serenity, which I will go to the theatre for - though Grimma mentioned in her lj the release date was pushed back. :(
I think I need to start a List Of Recommended Current Movies and let people suggest what's worth spending time seeing - maybe in my lj. (Of course, anyone's welcome to chime in here. *s*) I haven't even seen the latest Harry Potter or Lord of the Rings yet!

Lost talk: It looks like it's going to be a good one tonight! (Yes, I watch previews. *s*) Plot developement and excitement abound! There's a rumor one of the main characters will be killed this season. Why am I not surprised? With Buffy people involved in the show, I think that would be a "given". *g*
I read the TV Guide, so I know why Hurley was on the television. I don't want to spoil anyone, but we find out in his back-story tonight.
*
It's nice to be excited about a TV show again. *s*

No Veronica Mars last night, though. What's up with that? If I wanted to watch models, I'd turn on the Style Channel!

I'm not sure what that guy did on Lost. I just remember that he worked on the sets and that he played an extra. I'm not a really chatty person and all I really thought and said was "cool" while I waited for the line to my movie to hurry up so I could get away from the chatty guy.
I watched Constantine by the way and the woman thought I wasn't old enough to buy an R rated ticket and carded me. I was like whoa! I'm 29! I probably look as much as a teenager as the guys on 90210. I thought the movie was okay.
Now the minor spoiler parts *All the speech that Jin heard after the fight was in english but it was being played backwards like on a record player in reverse. So I thought maybe that was the beginning of him understanding it. I'm not sure what Hurley was doing on the tv. It looked like he was on a commercial for car sales. It was just a very short clip of him standing outside of a car. *

Hiya Watcher!

I knew it was filmed in Hawaii, but it never occured to me you might be running into people from the show. That is very cool! Who did you meet? Did you get to talk to them about Lost? I'm not up on all the characters' names or the names of the actors who play them yet. Is Evangeline Lilly the one who plays Kate?

I missed most of what was going on during that beach scene. We had an "Amber alert" for a missing child in our area, so the show was interrupted off and on. The little girl was found safe and sound, though! In spoiler: So are you saying it looked as though something strange was already going on? What do you mean when you say "in reverse"? Like "rewinding"? Ha! Maybe my theory is right! I bet I'm right about the polar bear, too! Unless it was bunnies. *g*
I have noticed other people in the background during flashback scenes. I missed Hurley, though. Could you tell why he was on the tv? (I taped over the episode already! I'll have to start saving them longer, I guess.)
*
Now that I'm getting so caught up in this show, I wish I'd been watching it from the beginning. I've missed a couple of episodes, which makes it a little more difficult when formulating theories. *s*

A big "hello" to everyone else!

Almond notices the slightly dusty look of the good ol' Box, and decides to do a little something about that. Donning a hat suspiciously like Mickey's in Fantasia, she waves a hand in a meaningful manner. A broom marches in from the back and begins sweeping the floor. Feeling a bit more confident, she motions to the scattered decorations from Holidays Past, which stir to life and obediently hop into an empty box. She does not see the goat peering around the shelves, nor would she have paid it any mind if she had. Feeling quite cocky now, she summons a bucket and cloth and gestures toward the windows. Unfortunately, she lets herself become distracted from the broom, which immediately begins waltzing about the middle of the room - enticing the goat to join in the dance. Noticing the serious lack of work going on, she commands, "Stop that at once!" Both broom and goat pause, and an evil glint comes to the quadruped's eye. She begins to back slowly toward the door as they start their advance. She raises a hand to summon the magic, but the misbegotten creatures rush her in unison! Whirling, she bolts for the door - leaving her hat to float gently to the floor behind her.

Hiya Almond. I guess I better do the spoiler font here but did you notice * that after the fight, Jin was watching everyone talk and all their voices were playing in reverse? And Hurley was on the tv during one of the Jin flashbacks. In just about all the flashbacks there's someone else from the island in the background. They're all connected.*
Anyway Lost is one of my favorite shows partly because its filmed here and the sound stage isnt too far away from me. And the beach they're on is where we used to have parties and camp out on. And then I met a person that works on the show recently. I was just a little disappointed that it wasnt Evangeline Lilly though!

We bought the dvd set yesterday. I'd be doing a happy dance, but I just woke up, and I haven't had my recommended daily dosage of coffee yet. *s*
We watched "Wax Lion" and "Pink Flamingos" with hubby's oldest son as soon as we got home, which were the first two episodes on the set. I was right about one thing I'd heard and mentioned here - they did show the episodes we saw on tv out of order. According to the order on the set, "PF" should have been shown second, but it was shown last after "WL", "Karma Chameleon" and "Wound-up Penguin". I'm going to pay attention as we watch the next two episodes and see if this disrupted the continuity of the show.

tarasApprentice: I haven't heard about VM being released on dvd, but I'm sure Rack (and perhaps some others here) will be thrilled to learn that the first (and only?) season of Tru Calling is out on dvd. Lost is supposed to be coming out in September.
That's so cool about getting to meet Brian Turk! I've heard good things of Carnivale, but I haven't seen it, since it's on a cable channel we don't get.

"Lost" talk: (in spoiler, of course) * Now that it's been revealed to the whole group that Sun (that's her name, right?) can speak English, her husband will be the odd man out in the group in future episodes - especially since they've split up and she won't be near-by to translate. This got me to thinking - we saw him begin to use a little English when he said "boat" to Micheal at the end of the last episode. Does anyone think the island is going to pull another "mysterious miracle" (like the "Locke can suddenly walk" thing) and have him learn the language at an accelerated rate? The actor is too good to waste in a fringe role. (He was "Gavin" on AtS, you know.)
I totally saw the "boy burned the boat" coming. He did not look happy when his dad was talking about leaving.
* I hope this show is shown in other countries next year, so we can all talk about it. I think Kung Fu and Gabriella might be especially interested, since there are so many flashbacks to the characters' time in Sydney pre-crash.

Lurking a bit this morning......

Theatrical screenings of INTERMEDIO will be held at

For anyone in Florida:
In late 2004, Benson Entertainment signed a

Friday, March 11th in Fort Lauderdale, FL. Amber
Benson will attend the screenings at 7:30 PM and 9:30
PM on Friday and Saturday, including a Question and

include a party after the screenings.

I watched a little of VM last night to try and catch AH. I caught the last scene with her.

It's "President's Day" today. Does anyone in the States know if that means the banks are closed? I really don't have time to be inconvenienced by a couple of dead presidents today. Speaking of dead people...

I just saw on the news that Sandra Dee died. This makes me a little sad. Does anyone but me feel their childhood slipping away into ancient history with her passing? She played the original Gidget in the movies, as well as doing all those fun romantic comedies. If you don't remember her from any of that, you must know her name from Grease - there was a whole song about her in that! Nobody? Just me then...

Corsa: Welcome back! I don't care if you bring bad weather with you. My world's a more exciting place just knowing you're in the country. (By the way, it snowed by us, too! *g*) Hope you have a great visit!

tarasApprentice: We checked to see if Wal-Mart had Wonderfalls yesterday. Of course they didn't, but I had fun pretending to be very surprised and questioning the ordering abilities of whoever stocks their dvd section. I left the two clerks who were working in electronics pouring over their "new release" book trying to figure out why they didn't have a customer requested item. (They seemed slightly upset when I turned to hubby and said, "Well, I guess we'll just have to get it at Sam Goodey then.") *g* I'm a mean person.

Watcher: Thank you for fixing my boo-boo. *s*

*leaves a freshly washed hiefer for the long-missing Fire Goddess and wonders what happened to the World Domination plan - was it called on account of snow?*

FYI - I refuse to check for spelling mistakes today. Whoever finds the most gets a cookie. *g* {{Hugs}} to all!

Thank the PTB for tv shows on DVD. I adore Carnivale, Freaks And geeks and of course Wonderfalls.

Mazzy, Please pass on a hello and a hug to Corsa from me. I hope you guys have a great time *s*

My track of the week is Frou Frou Let Go

VD did indeed, suck.

Congratulations and love to fortune teller !

Oh! Regarding AH's sitcom. The whole thing was cancelled and there was no taping :(

They had the cutest shirts at cafe press featuring many various Buffy quotes.

Does anyone know what happened to SMG doing that film called Romantic Comedy?

I thought I'd pop in a day early and do my Track of the Week. I've been listening to the Norah Jones cd we gave my Dad for Christmas. I love the combination of her great voice and the understated piano accompanying her in the background. The song Don't Know Why particularly touches me. So sad and contemplative.

I watched Eliza Dushku on That '70s Show last night. (Don't worry, I was taping both Smallville and Lost.) She was very good. She was not at all Faith-like. She did not wear a bikini. Also, she seems to be getting younger.

Gothic: If I ever get to Egypt, I'll definitely do the hot air balloon ride. Then I'll be able to check two things off my Things I've Always Wanted To Do list. *s*

Mazzy: Be sure to say "hi" to Corsa for me. *s*
Your plans sound fun. I prefer the sort of casual, easy-going get-togethers you described. It gives people more of a chance to relax and talk.

Sara Gilbert has been playing an intern on ER this season. Her parts have been getting bigger in the last few episodes. She looks to be a regular.

Grimma: My daughter made an observation I agreed with last time we were watching Point Pleasant together. She said they're moving things along too fast - not letting the plot and characters develop over time. (I think Buffy may have spoiled her for ordinary television. *s*) We both agreed it feels as though they're afraid the show will be canceled soon and are trying to tell as much story as they can before that happens. I still think the idea is interesting. I like the way the actress playing the main character (don't know her name) gives us a sense of the sweet, good person at odds with the evil half ruled by sudden emotions. I find the "big bad" interesting, too. He's subtle - just a push here and a nudge there. He gives the people in the town opportunities, then stands back as their worse natures take over.

Dogtrot: I don't think I'll be shelling out money for Lost DVDs anytime soon. I still have too many seasons of Buffy to buy first! *g*

Veronica Mars talk (spoiler fonted for the protection of the unwary):
I really like this show! I find almost all the characters interesting, except perhaps her ex-boyfriend. He started out okay, but has become a bit of a zombie lately. Personally, I don't care if he was calling out her name in the hospital. I'd rather see her get together with Logan. I like the complexity of his character. His seething-beneath-the-surface anger with his abusive father, his bonding with and support of Weevil, his moments of vulnerability with Veronica (especially when making Lily's tribute film) and his sense of humor - edged as it is.
I also like Lily's ghostly appearances. I hope they continue those. I love the way we get bits and pieces of the story behind her murder in almost every episode, but it doesn't interfere with the story of the week.
There's just so much going on with this show. Veronica's story unravels slowly but surely, too. And you know that eventually everything will tie together, but at this point it really isn't obvious how.
* ( cc Mazzy, Grimma, Dogtrot, and anyone else who's watching)

'Nuff babble for tonight. Tired now. {{Hugs}} to all!

Almond - I did indeed see The Valley of the Kings, and the Valley of the Queens, and King Tut's treasure, and we went on a hot air balloon ride over the ruins! It was really cool, would recommend it!

Mazzy - {{HUGSS}} back! I'm not that young! Feel ancient at the mo!

Grimma - he's always made his presence known, even when he was in the womb! Always went mad when she played Avril Lavigne - Sk8er boi! LOL

I'll pass on everyone's good wishes. FT and J J are both home now, and I'm really looking forward to Sunday as Daniel and J J are going to meet for the first time! It'll be so cool to see them together!

Here's the answers to the quiz:

1. What special occasion is next on your calendar?
either J J and Daniel meeting on Sunday, or my cousin's party in March - she's just got engaged!

2. Do you have a summer project this year, and have you actually started it?
I'm trying to label up my hundreds of digital photos since last year and make cd's for everyone. It's taking ages!

3. Which current TV show has caused you to have a "Buffy moment"?
I don't understand that question, although I thought Joan of Arcadia was quite Buffy-esque. Hope they do a new series soon.

4. Have you kept your New Years Resolutions?
didn't make any this year

Also, FT bought me Buffy series one on DVD for my birthday so I've finally got the whole set (up to series seven) and I'm gonna start from the beginning and watch them all over again! eep! haven't actually seen them all in ages.

It's kind of sad here without them!

Corsa arrived safely in NYC. I just talked to her. The weather went from really nice to crappy and rainy (seriously! Really! I'm not lying!).

dogtrot I actually have NOT heard any Alexis news recently. I've no idea what he's up to. I am excited for Aly on VM. I really like that show a lot. Last night's episode was very good. I enjoyed seeing her in the previews for next week. *squee*

1. What special occasion is next on your calendar?

2. Do you have a summer project this year, and have you actually started it?
No summer project. My future is blurred, I can't decide to do anything in more than 3 months.

3. Which current TV show has caused you to have a "Buffy moment"?
Veronica Mars. (I thought Point Pleasant would do hat too, but it's too bad to cause any moment)

4. Have you kept your New Years Resolutions?
Not really, but still working on that

Yes, I scrolled. It was a short scroll, but still!

Almond Not many big plans with corsa I've invited her, Dogmeat, Peace Fire and Marsgirl over to my place for a little shindig (brie and mellow song stylings) on Friday evening. Don't know if they'll all make it. Then on Sunday, a bunch of us will meet up in NYC for lunch and a nice walk (hopefully). Bufidiot mentioned about this architectural thing called The Gates up in Central Park. Maybe we'll go take a look.

I love Veronica Mars. I think it's just kind of fun and intersting. I think she and her Dad make the whole show though. I like Weevil, but I want more from the other characters. I don't know, they don't seem as "deep" or as complex.

I believe Aly H is gonna be on either this week (tonight?) or next week. Not absolutley sure. I'll watch both though.

I DON'T think I will be watching That 70's show with ED because I usually watch Lost.

As far as the sitcom Aly was supposed to be in, she shot a pilot with Jennifer Love Hewitt and Ed O'Neill. She was playing JLH's best friend. The series was to be picked up for mid-season replacement, but they had changed so much that Aly didn't want to be involved anymore and she was replaced by Sara Gilbert (of Roseanne). But I just read that the series all together has been scrapped. I real all this in various articles over at buffy.nu which is a great source of Buffy news. cc dogtrot

Gothic Woman {{HUGSS}} It's been an age! You are so young! Man! What a birthday. I was over 9 lbs too when I was born (scary!). I'm glad FT made it through all right. Tell her we are happy for her and hope she feels better soon.

I'm quite envious over your trip to Egypt. I've always wanted to see the pyramids and Sphinx (of course with an Indiana Jones type guy at my side *g*)

Must go see about dinner now!

Congratulations Fortune Teller!

I hope you and your little boy are both doing well.

I want to thank Kung Fu and Mazzy for doing my quiz. At least it filled some space, right? And it's nice to see what people have been up to lately. {Not everyone does informative posts like Gothic.)

Mazzy: Do Corsa and you have big plans for her latest visit? Other than visiting Dogmeat, of course!

Kung Fu: I'm afraid to ask how you did in round two, because I'm sure you would have told us the good news if you'd made it. Unless you're busy getting things in order so you can start school....

Gothic: I envy you your trip to Egypt. That's one place I've always wanted to go. Did you see The Valley of the Kings?

Thank you, Watcher, for being our Fairy Godfather! What would we do without you? Besides wander around aimlessly - unable to post.

Grimma: It's wonderful to see you here! Stop by again - and bring Clem. He can chase the goat. *s*

Dogtrot: My memory is a bit faulty lately, but I seem to recall tarasApprentice going to a screening of AH's sitcom. Maybe she's heard the recent status on that project.
I've been working on getting Girl-Not-A-Child interested in VM. If I tape it, she will watch it. Looks over her shoulder for Kevin Costner....doesn't see him. I'm trying to wean her away from One Tree Hill, which has become a terrible show. Soap City and very bad modeling.
Hubby and I are now devotees of Lost. The TV Guide had an article that caught us up on missed episodes. I read something disturbing recently, though. They are bringing out the first season on dvd in September, and plan on including a segment explaining why the plane crashed. Only those who buy the dvd get this information! Seems unfair to me....

Where the heck is Gabriella?

Hope everyone had a nice Valentine's Day. Mine sucked, but I did get a heart-shaped box of chocolate. Yay hubby!

Hey peeps! Thanks for all your good wishes about my nephew. I am loving being an aunty!
I just wanted to let you know I am back from holiday now. I really enjoyed Egypt, we saw lots of tombs, the pyramids and the sphinx, and also had some time to relax.

I got back last Wednesday, and on the Friday, it was my 23rd birthday and my sister (Fortune Teller / Suzie) was induced, so I spent the night worrying about her. She told me to go out and enjoy myself, which I tried to do, but I ended up getting my mobile phone stolen. Grr! Was not impressed!

Anyhoo, I was up the hospital all Saturday night, supporting my sister, and the baby was born at 14:15 on Sunday afternoon (in time for lunch!) It was a boy - James Joseph - and he weighed 9 pounds 11! He was so big, he got stuck and had to be resuscitated and spend the night in Special Care Baby Unit. However, apart from an infection due to the difficult birth and a very sore shoulder, he's fine now. He's a lovely boy, and Suzanne is OK, apart from being rather sore! All's well that ends well!

Sorry I've been away for so long. I really hope I can drop by more often.

Just want to say CONGRATULATIONS to Fortune Teller !!!!
Great news and I see there's a quiz from Almond. I've always been a sucker for quizzes so. . ..

here we go!

Almond's "It's Too Quiet in Here Quiz"

1. What special occasion is next on your calendar?
Corsa_am's visit to NYC!

2. Do you have a summer project this year, and have you actually started it?
Sort of. Just getting my room in order (I moved in Sept) and set-up the way I want. Today I finally went and bought my window treatments and hung them up, so I'm off to a good start!

3. Which current TV show has caused you to have a "Buffy moment"?
Veronica Mars and Lost in very different ways. Though I get to watch Buffy at 1am on a Saturday night. I was trying to watch it last night (while falling asleep *g*). It was a season 5 ep (the one after Spiral) and I'd forgotten so much of that season, so it's cool to see. Spike was in rare form, helping out scoobs and being really noble. I liked seeing it. I forgot a little about that.

4. Have you kept your New Years Resolutions?
Pretty much. It's genereally to de-clutter my life. I've gotten into throwing out things I don't need and in a more personal sense, trying not to waste time on things/people that cause me strife. So, it's slow-going but it's working

Fun quiz! I'm still enjoying the falling flowers. We had a touch of spring here. It was nice and sunny.

Ok, time for bed!

Almond the school systems are very different. There are limited places on all the different courses. Some are allocated to people who will pay there own fees on the spot and others are for government subsidised positions [student loans]. The position I applied for was a government subsidised one. Something that makes me feel a little better is that this year something like 10000 less students applied because of rising fees.

Almond's "It's Too Quiet in Here Quiz"

1. What special occasion is next on your calendar?
Trying to get into uni is still dominating my mind so I'd have to say Round 2 offers on Feb 3. My foster mum's b'day is also on the same day.

2. Do you have a summer project this year, and have you actually started it?
Define "started"? I have lots of things that I want to do and that I am doing but I don't really have a project as such. is sitting around like a couch potato a project?

3. Which current TV show has caused you to have a "Buffy moment"?
Well I've been watching season 5 and 6 Buffy on DVD. I missed most of these 2 seasons when they were on TV here in Australia so they are current to me. I suppose though that because I already know what happens anyway that I can't offer any theories.

4. Have you kept your New Years Resolutions?
I make a point of not making any. It seems to me that most people make theirs when they are fairly drunk and if the actually write them down to remember them, the only time they see the piece of paper is the next New Years Eve when they are casting about looking for a piece of paper to write down their New Year's Resolution. All seems rather pointless to me. Why is any resolution made on new year's eve any more important than a promise you make at any other time?

I'm very sorry to hear that, but good luck in round 2!
Your school system sounds quite different from ours. Are the places so limited there a drawing is needed to see who gets in? Or were the "rounds" to determine something like a scholarship?

It has been very quiet in here lately. I guess half our residents are on vacation, and the other half are suffering from the winter doldrums. Or, you know, they have lives! *s* Maybe we need a quiz to draw the lurkers out of the shadows.

The "It's Too Quiet In Here" Quiz

1. What special occasion is next on your calendar?
It's girl-child's 16th birthday next week. I spent part of yesterday searching for pink wrapping paper. I'm going for a theme, but I'm already sure the number of shades of pink will become very annoying before I'm through. *g*

2. Do you have a winter/summer project this year, and have you actually started it?
I desperately need to clean out my bedroom closet. I did make a start but haven't been able to get back to it yet. Want to come over and help? *hopeful look*

3. Which current TV show has caused you to have a "Buffy moment" (ie: I've got a theory!)?
Well, I've been catching up on Lost, and I think * the polar bear was actually the dog. Unfortunately, I've missed more than a few episodes, so I can't theorize in depth on any other aspect of the show. Does anyone care to guess what the "Lostasaurus" really is?*

4. Have you kept your New Year's resolutions?
I didn't make a traditional list. The one thing I was determined to do this year was keep myself from being sucked in to the vortex that is my family's craziness. I'm still struggling in that battle, but I did manage to tell my youngest brother "I'm busy - I've got to go now" when he called yesterday to bitca and moan about money.

Got to get girl-not-a-child-anymore off to school now. {{Hugs}} to all!

Hi Gabriella, it's great to hear from you again. I've applied for a Bachelor of Education/Arts at deakin university in Melbourne. At the end of it I should be able to teach secondary school english and history. I always wondered what motivated people to become school teachers, and now as I attempt to become one myself I still lack an answer to that question. I have no idea why I want to do it; just that it feels right.

Things seems to be going well for you and I'm glad for that. I'm thinking of taking a holiday to Brisbane myself, just as soon as I can justify what exactly I'd be taking a holiday from. I suppose I could visit some friends [though I just remembered that he and wis wife were posted to Adelaide before Christmas]. Oh well...

Oh that's what I forgot before! *smacks head*

Before I start Almond wanted me to pass on a big Hi to everyone. Due to an illness in the family she will not be around as much as she would like, but wants you to know that she is thinking of you all and send her love. I'm sure that everyone here would like to wish her father a speedy recovery and our thoughts are with her at this time.

Gabriella: Hi!! Long time no see. Congratulations on getting on your chosen course. We seem to have a few thespians here. Ldyknight is studying some theatre base course and tarasApprentice is no stranger to the stage either, although I think taraApp is more into musicals. Don't know about the others but I'm certainly envious of the lovely summer weather that you're currently enjoying. Having said that, you can't beat a good snowball fight.

Mazzy Fith will always remain my favourite television character (although Dr. Christian Troy is a close second) and I would love to see more of her, bit I don't think that people should pester Eliza into playing the character. If she wishes to do so then it should be her decision. If the series does materialise then I hope that the writing is better than the last two seasons of BtVS. I think that Joss has lost it and Marti Noxon would be a better choice in my opinion. Seth is too busy doing films to play Oz on a regular basis. I always said that I like Oz and wouldn't mind if he had his own series - just can't see it happening. BTW have you seen "Without a paddle"? Dawn..hummm a series with Dawn in peril every week where some evil warlock kills her in some ghastly manner only for her to come back "Kenny" like the next week to be killed all over again - yes..that would work. Where do I signup?
Gabriella Anya's dead but I suppose that they could devise someway to bring her back like they did with the other blonde girl..what's-her-name. Kennedy's off with her girlfriend Willow somewhere - Mexico I think. Before someone throws a wooden fish at me, Willow describes Kennedy as her girlfriend in some episode. The one where she stays that Kennedy has a pierced tongue (don't see the attraction in piercing myself but each to their own). Kennedy the slayer would make a good series and Andrew could be the watcher.

Kung Fu Good luck with the university applications. I'm sure that you'd be a better student than I was - pretty difficult to be any worse. Not going to be studying acting are you?

Just got time for a quick Track of the week which is School of Rock by School of Rock

Okay, not the greatest song ever written (or even a tribute to the greatest song in the world - Tenacious D have already done that - eh Jack), Lawnmower Deth's Seventh Church of the Apocalyptic Lawnmower has that honour, but in the context of the film a fitting finale (well technically back in (jack) black is the finale) and any wannabe rock star will see something of themselves in it. But Jack, your amps only go up to 10 that's one less 'init.

Take care all!!!

Mazzy
I think I'd really like to see Anya, Kennedy and Andrew do a spin off. There's so much potential for a show based around Kennedy rounding up and training new slayers (coz she's cute and her character has a lot of potential for growth), Anya can be risen from the dead because it's the buffyverse and no-one ever seems to stay dead for long there. (coz she's cute and funny, a very interesting character, brilliant actress, "and have you seen her arms? Those are good arms to have" . . .) And Andrew could tag along and possibly narrate (coz that's what he does. Plus it's funny - I really think he was what saved season seven)

Thankyou for the pretty flowers rack - some nasty goat et mine all up : (
It's nice to be back in the magic box though : ) Have been lurking for a little while but after my long absence was too scared to post. Then I couldn't resist - it was such a lovely day and I really had been frolicing and I wanted the whole world to know- so naturally I came here. . . hmmm...

I just found out I got into my course!!!!!!
I can't belive it. I'm now officially going to be studying a "diploma of arts (acting)" at the Adelaide Centre of Performing Arts. So for the next three years I actually get to study performance. I'm so excited.
Plus I'm currently on holiday in sunny Brisbane (I've tanned so much that people actually believe me now when I tell them I'm part aboriginal) And I've spent so much time at the beach that I don't think I'll ever get the sand out of my underwear. . . What more could a girl want!!!!
I have so much more I want to say to all of you, but for now I'd better sign off before boredom sends you to sleep.

I tried to post the other night, but the voy demon wouldn't let me. Now what was I gonna write about? I don't remember.

I like the flowers. So purty and feels so spring like. It makes me wish winter was over.

and something to Rack expressing my shock over the fact he doesn't want more Faith. Are you nuts?

Though if there was a spin off, I don't think I'd want Faith. Maybe Dawn, definately Oz, but not necessarily Faith.

What about you guys? Who would you like to see in a spin-off?

This better post!

(Fri Jan 7 04:45:55 2005 172.198.19.158) [Edit/Delete]

SaveAngel.org has launched a Faith Spinoff campaign asking Eliza Dushku to do the Faith spinoff.

As you probably know, Joss Whedon said at the High Stakes Kerry/Edwards fundraiser on October 17th, that he would love to do a Faith series if Eliza wanted to. Therefore the first target for postcards is Eliza.

The best chance to get our favorite Angel and Buffy characters back on TV is to fight for an Angel spin-off featuring Faith.

Mum and baby are both doing well.

I would post some pics up but i don't know how to do it...anyone care to enlighten me?

anyhoo, must get back to my other obsession - eBay!

The cat-flap on the backdoor, once the sole use of MissKittyfantastico, swings open. Through which emerges not a cat, but a small brown teddy bear. One of the Turkeys dressed in a rather fetching Santa outfit turns its attention from the jar of chickens’ feet that it had been ogling for the past few minutes towards the new arrival. “That’s an odd looking thing” thinks the turkey and returns to the chicken feet.
The teddy bear suddenly runs and jumps on the back of the turkey and proceeds to ride it much as a cowboy would a wild stallion. The turkey runs frantically to and fro making a most horrendous gobbling sound. Eventually the turkey manages to jettison the unwanted jockey and send the troublesome bear flying into the darkness ‘neath the stairs…

‘fraid its just a quick post as Rack say that I can decorate our tree!!

Almond: You could always have a look and see if you can get a VHS “Queen of the Damned” on eBay. I think Rack buys more stuff of eBay than from “normal” shops. He got some of those “Warlock” books a couple of months back and I think he’s planning on reading them when he finishes his current book.

Kung Fu: You can always swap with me if you want to stay somewhere cold for Christmas. Teddy bears prefer to be warm!! Good luck with life outside the Army. Think you said that you were going to University ~ just be a better student that a certain warlock was.

Quick waves to all, including the MIA Lionhunter.

re White Christmas in Australia

I guess it's the Northern Hemisphere imposing its culture on the Southern.

I used to live in Pennsylvania when I was a young kid, and we did have snowy Christmases often. When my family moved to Southern California I was shocked to find shirt sleeve weather on or around Christmas pretty often. But we always talked about how nice it would be to have a "white" Christmas (except my dad who really enjoyed not having to drive in the snow!).

..And All Through The Magic Box,
Not a creature was stirring;
Except for that Extra Sharp Battleaxe in the corner..

The Battleaxe begins to wobble and vibrate for no apparent reason [this is in fact because Reason had gone out to lunch], before with a fizz and a pop it disappears. For quite some time the Magic Box sits idle as if waiting for something to happen.

Eventually there is a great commotion from the rear entrance and Kung Fu Cowboy stumbles in looking slightly the worse for wear [the toes of his boots are missing and his clothing has several precise cuts in it] dragging behind him a magnificent tree that will almost brush the cieling when it stands up.

His trusty Battleaxe noticeably absent Kung Fu looks worried for a moment when he hears another noise from the back of the shop. The battleaxe, seemingly under its own power comes flying out of the storage room directly at his head, but Kung Fu snags it out of the air and places it gently in its quiet corner until he needs it again.

Pulling sharp objects through inter-dimensional portals is a tricky business. My Battleaxe seems to have a dislike of being moved by unseen forces and took offense to being summoned for a mere tree chopping. Personally I don't see the big deal, an axe is an axe, and tree has to taste better than demon head which was his last meal. Anywho, the Tree has arrived I'm kinda busy packing at the moment so I can't find my Christmas decorations.

My life [read:My belongings] is in a complete shambles at the moment. My last day in the army is Friday [for the record it's currently 4:30 wednesday afternoon] and I have my removal tomorrow. I'm one of these people who collects junk, of course it's never junk when I think to myself I might use that again or I might still need that. After seven years in the army I thought that about many extremely silly items that not only have I not used while in the army but I am never going to use them outside. Oh well I guess I just have to sort the uselful stuff from the junk.

I have often wondered what it might be like to have Christmas during winter. Of course here at the moment it is starting to get pretty hot and I'm more of a cold weather person. It is funny that even here in Australia people's image of christmas includes snow. Everywhere I see people spraying fake snow onto windows, laying fake snow foam and things like that. I can accept the idea of Santa and his reindeer being universal, but wishing for a White christmas here seems a little silly.

Almond I hope the tree is enough. I will email you my addy in the next few days. It turns out the people I'm moving in with have a broadband internet connection so my net usage probably wont change much.

Anyway I must get back to the packing I've been putting off since I got home from work.

Hubby and girl-child might notice I'm missing, however. *sigh*

Guess what, people? I just bought BtVS - Season 7 on dvd! Unfortunately, I don't get to keep it.
We told girl-child we would help her buy a Christmas present for her boyfriend, since she only gets $10 a week allowance, and we are holding back $7 of that every week until she has repaid a debt to us. He loves vampires and hasn't seen Queen of the Damned yet, so we were going to buy him that. Unfortunately, he doesn't have a dvd player in his room and has an aversion to spending too much time in the main room where he's living right now, so we were searching for it on vhs. Guess what? You can't get it on vhs anymore!
Well, he had told us on Saturday that he was unhappy because he hasn't had a chance to see the series finale of "Buffy" yet, so....
I'll bet he ventures out into the main room for this! *g* (And hey - maybe he'll loan it to me so I can watch the "extras"! *s*)

Vulkon Conventions has just announced changes to its Houston, Tx event including new date, hotel and some new headliners. James Marsters and Amber Benson will be joining the previous announced Andy Hallett.

As an extra perk all 3 headliners will be preforming songs during the course of the event. Including the Sat night US concert debut of James Marsters. (I'm not sure if this is a solo thing or it will be Ghost Of The Robot because then why would they say "debut"?)

There may also be a live commentary offered of the movie they were all in Amber Benson's 'Chance'.

Plus from the promoter regarding the private reception with James;
"So this is the format James and his manager worked up - an encore performance with Q&A and James picking some lucky fans to come up and get serenaded face to face. I am sure it will be great as James will NOT dissappoint his fans. Plus there will be food and booze (open bar) too !"

A shivering figure steps through the door letting a blast of chilly air enter with her. It knocks over one of the behatted turkeys, which she promptly trips on. Picking up the little gobbler, she begins to remove its tiny pilgrim outfit - replacing it with a Santa suit. Attaching a beard to its beak, she moves on to the next would-be "Santa Bird"...

Hello and {{hugs}} to all!
Well, I didn't make it in to wish everyone a happy Thanksgiving. I hope all of you who celebrate the day survived the over-dose of tryptophan. We went out to eat with Dad and family, but I still bought pie for later. *g* (cc the very MIA Lionhunter, who I miss)
Having learned from my mistake, we plan on skipping the projected Christmas dinner outing. We will be spending the day quietly at home, then going to visit Dad in the evening. This will be nicer for him, as it gives him company over a longer time period.
If we are fortunate, we may be joined during the day by older-daughter and hubby's two sons. We've invited girl-child's new boyfriend, but we're waiting to see if his foster-parents will allow him to come. I discovered yesterday that he is a huge "Buffy" fan, so I'm sure episode viewage will be part of our holiday. I wish I had "Amends" on tape - that would be perfect! Also, "The Wish" has a It's a Wonderful Life vibe that might be considered seasonal. (What's a holiday without a little "Buffy", right? *s*)

Gothic: Congratulations on your permanent position, and good luck on your counselling course! You seem to have found your niche. *s*
Soon your life will be swarming with babies! You will make a wonderful Auntie! I hope all is going well for both Mommies-to-be.
You're welcome for the link. If you aren't familiar with the "Peanuts" gang, you probably haven't had a chance to see one of my favorite holiday television specials - A Charlie Brown Christmas. I was thinking about it just yesterday, when I saw a pink aluminum Christmas tree. *g*

Dogtrot: I recently read that VM was picked up for the full season! WooHoo!
Did you see the recent Gilmore Girls? I got so excited when Rory made the BtVS reference! I started yelling, "Spike and Drusilla! Spike and Drusilla!" Fortunately, no one was here to see my silliness. *g*

tarasApprentice: That's very good news about Chance! I hope it's shown in a theatre near me. *s*

Rack: Your Christmas card made it safely to the States. Thank you! It was our very first one this year. *s*
I think the "party and its aftermath" was portrayed realistically on Veronica Mars, even if the subject matter was uncomfortable. Many rapists are never caught. Giving the story a quick "happily ever after" ending would have been too trite. It seems the answer to "who done it?" is part of the larger story arc, which is one of the things I really like about this show.
As for the messages it sent, maybe they were good ones. "Be careful" "Don't drink" "Trust with caution" are all things a teenager should learn. It's a scary world out there.

Kung Fu: I think you and your trusty axe should go find the Magic Box a Yule tree. I'll help decorate it! *s*

Got to run - girl-child has her school holiday concert this afternoon.
