I trust that everyone who celebrated Thanksgiving yesterday thoroughly enjoyed themselves and didn't over do it with the turkey. I always wondered if Americans still had turkey for Christmas too. It's just that it seems that there isn't much difference between Thanksgiving dinner and Christmas dinner - or is there?

If there are any UK posters out there who don't have all seven seasons on DVD yet, you might like to know that there is a specially created box set containing all 7 Seasons of Buffy The Vampire Slayer in limited edition numbered packaging. This also includes a letter from series creator Joss Whedon (an apology for creating the character Dawn?), a book containing episode information and a run-down of Joss Whedon's favourite episodes. That's over 100 hours of vampire bottom-kicking action across 39 discs and this can be all yours for £139.99, which works out at only 20 quid a season which is cheaper than buying them individually- but hurry as they are going fast. I have to trudge down to the parcel depot tomorrow to pick mine up - bit of an "oh hum" that. Don't know if our season seven will have the Bronze posting party feature on it as the featurettes sometimes differ between U.S. and other versions.

tarasApprentice: I had a look at the Veronica Mars link and it she sound a little Buffy like. Can't help wondering if they have a little machine over there churning out little Buffy clones for television series. They do seem to have created a fairly interesting character though and her fall from social grace is at least plausible. Don't believe we get it over here yet, although they may have shown the pilot episode on Sky movies as the name sounds familiar. I was a little concerned about what happen to Veronica at the party and wondered what sort of message it sent out. I think it would have been better if they had Ms Mars bring the perpetrator to justice. I miss Buffy..it was almost as good as Dawson's Creek *a tear starts to swell up in the warlock's eye at the loss of his beloved Dawson's Creek*.

I read the Chris Wietz (thanks for that btw), there are some words of comfort in there but a couple of things had me wondering. I quite liked the fact that they aren't going to be too cgi reliant and that they're going to be shooting on "location" where possible. Also that Chris realised that it is a more to do with human emotion than just a struggle against an oppressive regime. I'm also pleased that they intend to shoot it as three separate films rather than try and condense it into two. I still don't think he has the previous experience to handle a project of this magnitude and I didn't like the part where he said certain "religious" aspects of the story may need to be toned down to appease the backers. Can't say I saw Lee Scoresby a looking anything like Samuel L Jackson, I imagine him to be a grizzled older man with a bit of a stubbly white beard. I had no idea that the "Northern Lights" is known as "The Golden Compass" in the states. Wonder if I can get a part as a spectre in "Subtle knife" - they could be the new ring wraiths.

Okay, its Friday and you know what that means……No, not fish…It’s Rack’s tack of the week
T’was 20years ago that a scruffy bunch of musicians came together to record a song, the proceeds from its sale going to aid famine relief in drought starved. Well even scruffier people (including me as probably the scruffiest) brought this by the shed load and Band Aid had at the time the fastest and biggest selling record in Britain.
Now twenty years later, a not so scruffy bunch of musicians has recorded the same song, "Do they know it’s Christmas", to aid famine in Africa caused both through drought and civil war.
So this weeks track of the week is "Do they know its Christmas" by Band Aid 20
In truth I think that I maybe played the original once then went back to Iron Maiden and Judas Priest. But it’s for a good cause – so buy it if you can.

I'm not too sure if I'm suited to this live journal malarkey. I don't really do anything that I would deem of interest - nothing worth spending time writing about - oh hum.

Well it's Friday and I wish everyone here a happy and stress free weekend. Teddy and myself will be spending it clearing out some old stuff and trying to organise things a little better. I'm also in the market for a new more powerful computer. I have six courses that I'm hoping to do in three years for which I need a more fanciful piece of kit. If only I had paid attention when I was at university and not tried to live out a rock star lifestyle - oh hum.

It's been absent for sometime and I'm sorry to say so have I......but its back (A loud cheer or cry of consternation is heard. Bit hard to tell which it is though ) !!

As you know I was the musical "Wicked" whilst in New York and I've listened to the soundtrack CD that I brought a little since I returned home. So I've decided to pick a track from that as my track of the week. There are a couple of standout numbers in the show "No one mourns the wicked" and "Defying gravity" but I've decided to single out something else and I present "For Good" from Wicked the musical

Obviously coming from a musical the lyrics have to advance and convey the story and feelings of the actors characters involved. This does that by Elphaba (The "Wicked" witch) and Glinda (The Good witch) expressing how much...no, make that how valuable their friendship for each other is. These two, who are from different ends of not just one spectrum, manage to forge a friendship seemingly against the odds. What I especially like about the song is how the lyric "I have been changed for good" at the end of the song can be taken in two ways. "I have been changed for good" - meaning something permanent signifying the lasting bond that is their enduring friendship and "I have been changed for good" - meaning that this friendship has enriched them in a positive way and they a better person for it.

If you would like to see the lyrics for the song, then click those ruby slippers here and you be transported there. You'll need to scroll down a little though.

Well only the customary "Take care" to say and I'll see you soon.

Take care all!!!!!

P.S. Gothic: I sent you an email offering congratulations on being made permanent and best wishes to both sis and sis-in-law with their little bundles of joy

hey peeps!

I have just heard that I passed the interview board and I have been offered my job on a permanent basis! (was just a casual before)

From January, I am a civil servant and I am now officially PA to the Secretary of the Royal Engineers, what what!

I have also started a part time Counselling Skills course and my Tutor says I am a natural. Yay!

I am also really looking forward to being an Aunty. My sister-in-law's "Bump" is due in 4 weeks time and my sister (Fortune Teller)'s "Bean" is due in February. Eep!

Am gonna be very busy! LOL.

Almond - thanks for taking down the decorations - have been rather busy lately, although I always lurk in my Spike shaped chair! I did check out the link you left in your last post. Thank you!

At Fort Amhurst, you went through all the passageways and corridors (creepy anyway, let alone at Hallowe'en!) and people were all dressed up and kept grabbing you and trying to take you away from the rest of the group. It was really dark and spooky, and things kept touching your face and legs! They had various scary scenes, like a Pirates of the Caribbean one, where pirates all walked towards you slowly, in time, then suddenly charged us with swords, etc! They also had a waxworks room with various characters from scary movies, like Mike Myers out of Hallowe'en and Leatherface from the Texas Chainsaw Massacre and some of them came alive! Leatherface was running around with a chainsaw! It was so cool! Would definately go next year!

Almond scurries in out of the rain, takes off her coat, and shakes the droplets of water off. The wetness adorning her hair will just have to air-dry, since she refuses to do her "wet dog imitation" - so undignified! She begins to remove Gothic's Halloween decorations and, placing them in an empty box, sets them aside for next year. Dragging over another box, she starts unpacking turkeys dressed as pilgrams and scatters them about the room - to the hazard of all unwary feet and a rather dismayed panther.

Time for a new holiday, I guess. What's everyone doing for Thanksgiving (or your equivalent) this year? I'm going to have to find out if anyone is planning on taking Dad out for the meal. If not, that's what we'll be doing. Unfortunately, we live in an upper, so we can't have him here. Hubby and I have seriously considered moving to a lower for this reason, but we know we'd never find a two bedroom apartment for anything near what we're paying now. :(

I saw a preview of The Mountain last night. It showed a scene with James Marsters. He doesn't look anything like the Spike I remember. *sigh* I'm not sure I want to watch - I don't like having my illusion of an ongoing Buffyverse shattered. It was bad enough when I saw Joyce on the Advil commercial!

Dogtrot: It was picked up? That's very good news! Maybe other people will discover what a good program it is if they show a few reruns. That is one of the reasons I'm reluctant to start watching Lost and Desperate Housewives - I've missed so many episodes I wouldn't know what's going on.

Wow, you are busy on-line! I can see why you might not want to begin something new. I wish you would reconsider and get a journal, though, even if you never write in it. You could "friend" some of the Magic Box inhabitants who have one (Fire, LdyKnight, Rack, tarasApprentice, Mazzy....uh...me) and keep up with their journals fairly easily through your friends page. Then you would be able to pop in when you have the time to comment on entries. I "friends lock" most of mine - just because public ranting is so passe. *g*

The above Public Service Announcement for live journal applies to all! It's fun! It's free! And every new subscriber gets a free set of steak knives! *g* Go here to get one.

Hugs to all!

Wow! Am I disillusioned about the origin of that old "Chinese saying". I use that a lot.

I think I did read that Veronica Mars was picked up for the rest of the season. Now if it could just start to post some decent ratings.

Desperate Housewives is good. I suppose it's more in the category of "chick-flickdom", but I like it. Of course I'm also a big fan of Terms of Endearment and Sleepless in Seattle.

The Journal thing is too ambitious for me. I have a hard enogh time keeping up at the Beta, here, the Dead Like Me board, and I've been watching the Fuselage board too.

Isn't that an old Chinese curse? "May you live in interesting times."
Hmmm, I just googled it. This was interesting:

May you live in interesting times is a phrase that is often quoted as being the English translation of an ancient Chinese proverb and curse. However, many people have searched for the original Chinese language version and have not been able to determine its origin. It has been attributed to various American speakers, though research is continuing into the phrase's first appearance. It dates back to at least 1950, when the April issue of Astounding Science Fiction included the saying in one of the magazine's stories. The story was penned by Eric Frank Russell under the name Duncan H. Munro. It is currently unknown if Russell created the phrase himself or heard it from somewhere else. The saying has also been attributed to the fictional Chinese storyteller Kai Lung invented by the Edwardian author Ernest Bramah, though this too has yet to be documented. It is reported that it was the first of three curses of increasing severity, the other two being:

"May you come to the attention of those in authority."
"May you find what you are looking for."

I haven't watched Desperate Housewives. (We usually watch Charmed, then catch up on a couple of shows that were taped during the week.) There was an article about it in this week's TV Guide that made it sound like a good bet, but did you know it's being targeted by some of those "family values groups" that attacked BtVS? They've already bullied Tyson Foods and Lowe's Home Improvement into pulling their advertising.

I really like Veronica Mars, but I've seen some numbers that show it isn't doing very well. I can't understand this, but then I'm still in denial about Firefly and Wonderfalls.

When are you going to get a livejournal? It's an exciting world - one of it's members was recently visited by the Secret Service due to an entry she made. I myself am aiming much higher. If I can't manage to get a houseplant bugged by the CIA - well, let's just say I'll feel I haven't fullfilled my dramatic destiny. Interesting times, indeed. *g*

I can also bring the cards from his friends to his favorite hang-out. So, I heard through tarasApprentice's lj get one get one get one of your own that once again you rented something sleek and speedy for your vacation. It was a car, right? lol

A sort of calm serenity has befallen the Magic Box after the hubbub and excitement of Halloween and for the U.K. posters, bonfire night. A few Halloween decorations remain, mostly spray on cobwebs cling fastly to the windows that they adorn, defusing the autumnal sunshine that beams through them. The crisp, cold air outside reveals the breath of passers by as they hurry to and fro. All huddled with hands buried deep in pockets against the cold. Occasional a passer by glances through the decorated windows of the Magic Box to examine the wares displayed within and wonder; "Just what do people do with those chicken feet?"
As with most things in life, they end and the tranquillity that the Magic box has enjoyed of late has come to an all too short an ending. For in its mist now stands a being with a heart blacker than the darkest winter night and colder than the mini fridge that resides in a corner of the shop. The leather trench coat that drapes of his shoulders hovers inches above the floor, seemingly dripping with evil. He watches the portal that transported him fizzles and gasp its dying breath as it finally dissipates and vanishes. For all the scary decorations that once hung proudly within its walls, depicting ghost, ghouls and monsters of all descriptions, the Magic Box can boast a real source of evil... for its warlock has finally returned.

Well first off I must say a big thank you to those people that I managed to inflict myself upon. I was fortunate to meet that literary genius, mistress of quills and champion of Doz, Mazzy (who travelled in to Manhattan from the back of beyond just to met me) and cab driver extraordinaire and former mayor of the Bronze, Dogmeat. Despite working at the time Dogmeat still found time to pop into Mustang Harry's and shake Mr. Warlock warmly by the throat hand. Although my abiding memory of him will be fishing ice cubes out of a glass of water with a folk. Dogmeat also reminded me of Animal from the Muppet show for some reason, but I mean that in an affectionate way.
In California I was again lucky enough to meet the ever sweet, kind, generous and very Tara like tarasApprentice who also served as Mr. Warlock's part-time chauffeuse and tour guide for which he paid her...well absolutely nothing, but then that's warlocks for you.
I suppose I should also mention that "God" put in an appearance. Whilst we were in Disneyland tarasApp spotted Kris Lemche (a.k.a. cute boy god from Joan of Arcadia) walking with a couple of friends. I have to confess that I completely failed to recognise him but then I don't think he recognised me either so fairs fair.

Okay, it's been pointed out to me that everyone is live journaling these days. So way behind the times (as usual), I shall be unveiling my own live journal just as soon as I've nicked enough stuff of some other people to put in it.

Mazzy : Welcome to my life is a very dark song and not one I'm familiar with, which explains why I didn't recognise it whilst we were in Harry's. In fact it's such a depressing song that I had to listen to some Smith's songs to cheer my self up. Can't say I'm into Eminem either but I do like the way the video for "Just lose it" sends up Michael Jackson

Almond: What you could do is to put a "Thank you" in the personnel column local paper to thank people for the cards and flowers for your brother's funeral. Or if most of them are co-workers from your brother's place of employment, you could send a big thank you card there. If you send it to the personnel department they can circulate it to the relevant work area or pin it to a notice board for them to see.I know that it doen't solve everything but here's a {{{Hug}}} for you.

I'll try to get a review of the musical "Wicked" and "Ju-on: The Grudge" done for Friday, unfortunately people here keep telling me that my vacation is over and that I should think about doing some work....like that's ever gonna happen.

Almond wanders in through the back door and snuggles into her comfy chair. She wishes she could stay here all day, but she knows she has to leave soon and head out into the Real World. As she sips her coffee, she sees her present from Gothic scuttle across the floor closely pursued by something with a bit of dried blood on its front teeth. If it catches her spider, shots or no shots, it's a goner!

I was going to tell you all a bit of what's been keeping me away from here lately, but I decided it would probably sound too much like a rant. So, a few selected scenes from recent Real Life events:

Last Saturday afternoon: I'm sitting at the kitchen table trying to get organized so I can begin writing the thank you cards for the flowers and cards sent on my brother's behalf, when I realize that most of the people on my list neglected to put their last name or address on the items sent. Who do I send the card to? Most of these people are friends and co-workers I've only met briefly at the funeral.

Yesterday morning: I'm at the hospital. My daughter has been sent there by her doctor for a CT scan of her appendix, since she's been having stomach pain since Friday night. My father is in the emergency room having his hip x-rayed, since the staff at the nursing home suspect he broke it when he fell on Friday. I'm running back and forth between the two of them. Fortunately, daughter just has a bad virus, and Dad just has a bad bruise.

Last night, about 8:30 pm: I'm sitting at the computer. Daughter is asleep and hubby is at work, and I'm trying to decide whether to update my lj or come here first. My left arm hurts so bad I can't think straight, so I decide to go to bed instead. (FYI - the doctor thinks the pain in my arm is being caused by a pinched nerve in my left shoulder - which means I can't have it fixed since we can't afford the co-payment on the surgery right now. Heck, we can't even afford the co-payment on the test that would determine if I actually do have nerve damage. I'm getting used to the pain - I just wish I'd quit dropping things.)

OK, that did sound like a rant. Sorry. I'm really not trying to elicit sympathy. I just want you to know I'm not ingoring you on purpose.

Gothic: Did you check out the link I left you in my last post? It was a Peanuts strip featuring the Great Pumpkin.
Tell us about Fort Amhurst. What kind of thing do they do there for the "spooky"?

Dogtrot: Hi! *g*
I watch Veronica Mars, but I don't watch the other shows you mentioned. I think I may have made a mistake not keeping up with Lost after the pilot episode - I see so many people listing it as one of their favorite new shows. I guess I felt guilty being able to watch it when hubby couldn't, since I tape Smallville for him. It never occurred to me that I could have been taping it on my daughter's vcr!

Kung Fu: I envy you your Buffy dvd collection! Are you going to start on Angel next?
Dogtrot is right - just buy Firefly if you can afford it. It was such a good show - I think you'd really like it! I'm looking forward to the theatrical release of Serenity more than I can tell you. It will be the first movie I actually see at the theatre since Star Wars - Attack of the Clones.

Mazzy: Thank you for the hugs and kind words. I'm managing.
So you can add your name to the List of the Privileged Few Who Have Met the Great Rack (henceforth to be known as LPFWHMGR)? Lucky girl! *g*

I saw a Buffy question on Jeopardy recently. (Just throwing that out there to show I can stay OT at least some of the time! *g*)
Well, I'm off to check on Dad and buy daughter more liquids.

Last week, this was my track

Rack when you get back and scroll...this is one of the songs we heard in Mustang Harry's that I was telling you about. It was my track of the week:

This song is a little dark, though the tune is very catchy. I just think we've all felt like this at one point or another. I can relate:

Simple Plan "Welcome to My Life"

Do you ever feel like breaking down?
Do you ever feel out of place?
Like somehow you just don’t belong
And no one understands you

Do you ever wanna run away?
Do you lock yourself in your room?
With the radio on turned up so loud
That no one hears you screaming

No you don’t know what it’s like
When nothing feels alright
You don’t know what it’s like to be like me

To be hurt
To feel lost
To be left out in the dark
To be kicked
When you’re down
To feel like you’ve been pushed around
To be on the edge of breaking down
And no one’s there to save you
No you don’t know what it’s like

Welcome to my life

Do you wanna be somebody else?
Are you sick of feeling so left out?
Are you desperate to find something more
Before your life is over?

Are you stuck inside a world you hate?
Are you sick of everyone around?
With the big fake smiles and stupid lies
While deep inside you’re bleeding

No you don’t know what it’s like
When nothing feels alright
You don’t know what it’s like to be like me

To be hurt
To feel lost
To be left out in the dark
To be kicked
When you’re down
To feel like you’ve been pushed around
To be on the edge of breaking down
And no one’s there to save you
No you don’t know what it’s like

Welcome to my life

No one ever lied straight to your face
And no one ever stabbed you in the back
You might think I’m happy
But I’m not gonna be ok!

Everybody always gave you what you wanted
You never had to work it was always there
You don’t know what it’s like
What it’s like!

To be hurt
To feel lost
To be left out in the dark
To be kicked
When you’re down
To feel like you’ve been pushed around
To be on the edge of breaking down
And no one’s there to save you
No you don’t know what it’s like (what it's like)

To be hurt
To feel lost
To be left out in the dark
To be kicked
When you’re down
To feel like you’ve been pushed around
To be on the edge of breaking down
And no one’s there to save you
No you don’t know what it’s like

Welcome to my life

Welcome to my life

Welcome to my life

Ok, now I have to put in a DISCLAIMER because this is an Eminem song and some of the lyrics may be offensive to some of you.

The reason why I pick this song is because it's very catchy and I like. I have never necessarily been a big Eminem fan, but I just find this very danceable (and singable) in my car, so there you go...

Almond {{{{{BIG HUGS}}}}} I'm so sorry for your sudden lost. I pray that you will find strength and peace at this time. Remember we are all thinking of you and wishing you well!

I met with Rack in NYC last week. We both survived! Just kidding.

But it reminded me how neglectful I've been of the ole box.

I just have such limited on-line time these days and I've been moderating (well attempting) much of the activity on the Barge lately. That takes up a lot of time, as well as moderating NYCB group and regular e-mails etc.

Hmm, when did this all become a job?

I have tracks of the week, even though I haven't posted them.

Must find lyrics

Hugs to everyone!

I've heard they are going to air Firefly in Australia. But out of order, as they did here in the US! If you have any intention of watching it, DON'T watch it out of order. Rent or buy the dvd set and see it as it was supposesed to be seen. It makes a big difference.

Kung Fu Cowboy enters the Magic Box to the sound of a huge cathedral bell. Apparently someone replaced the doorbell for Hallowe'en. Looking considerably impressed at the decorations he notices the pile of gifties left by Gothic and selects one to open...

there is a loud snap as a small silver trap almost takes his fingers off!

Hmm...buyer beware.

Here in Australia we aren't getting many new shows yet, which is wierd because with the rating season over you would expect them to be test running shows. The OC has been going over here for a couple of months but I can't bring myself to watch it - it seems a little too much like Melrose Place for me.
Even though it never actually aired here Firefly was released on DVD a few weeks ago. I'm not even sure what it's about. On a related not I'm now only one season short of owning the whole series of Buffy on DVD. I still need the last season but I'm making myself watch the rest before I get it.

I did open my present and it bit me! Has it had its shots?

I wonder if this place has been quiet because the new hot American tv shows aren't available in Europe or Australia/New Nealand yet? Everybody is talking a lot about Lost, Desperate Housewives and Veronica Mars. And The OC is starting it's new season tonight.

It's a shame this place has been so quiet.

Almond walks through the front door of the good ol' Box and gazes in appreciation at the decor. She nibbles on a ghost-shaped cookie as she ponders the stack of gifties left by Gothic. Screwing up her courage, she selects one with airholes airholes? and quickly unwraps it. Out pops a fuzzy black spider! Stroking its little back, she turns it loose to lay its traps for less desirable critters.

Linus, Snoopy and The Great Pumpkin

My Track of the Week a little early:
Gypsy by Fleetwood Mac.
Aside from the fact that Stevie Nicks has a fantastic voice, it was one of my brother's favorite songs.

I'll be back as soon as I can. I'm still pretty busy wrapping up some things. {{Hugs}} to all (and Sundry)!

Leaving a big bowl of panther-chow for Lionhunter's friend, she heads back out into the rainy fall weather.

The Great Pumpkin is from the cartoon strip (also books and TV specials) Peanuts (Snoopy, Charlie Brown, Linus, Lucy, Woodstock, etc) by the dearly departed Charles Schultz.

Every Halloween, Linus plants a pumpkin patch and waits for "The Great Pumpkin" to come. Sort of like Santa Claus.

gothic walks in the Magic Box and starts putting up scary decorations, and cackling to herself. She opens a big sack she brought with her and leaves little gifts to the Magic Boxers around the room. They are all wrapped up with black paper and string, and are covered with cobwebs. Soon, the Magic Box looks very much like the people from Hallowe'en town's version of Christmas in "The Nightmare Before Christmas!"

I hope everyone likes their scary Hallowe'en presents. Who will be the first to dare to open one, I wonder?!

I agree with that statement, Kung Fu! I hope everyone is having a good time, and not being scared too much! mwahahaha!

btw, we love sundry! lol

What's the great pumpkin?

Rack - thank you for your good wishes to Fortune Teller and Moose. There will be a little baby fortune teller on around February 18th - eep! I'm so excited! Went to hospital with FT the other day for her scan, and bean was happily laying in her uterus, wiggling his/her bum and waving at us! it was so cool!

We went to a cool party last night, and got rather merry! It was fun, but then some horrible man was mean to me, so I got right up in his face (even though he was over 6 foot) and shouted at him! Everyone started backing away and he looked really scared! It was great! Well, he wasn't to know I'm a pacifist, was he? lol

Anyhoo, had better go now, have got to get ready for tonight. Am going on the scary Hallowe'en Horrors tour at Fort Amhurst! I can't wait!

See you all soon!

xxjoxx

gothic looks round, admiring her handiwork. The place looks pretty good. She leaves drinks on the table, and some nibbles, and waits for people to come in.

I hope people come! Don't forget your presents!

gothic helps herself to a drink, and goes upstairs to sit and lurk in her Spike-shaped chair, awaiting the time that other Boxers will join her!

It helps to know that friends like you are sending good thoughts and virtual hugs at a time like this. I didn't talk about my oldest brother much but he was my favorite. He was so quiet people tended to take him for granted. I think he'd be amazed to know how deeply his death has affected so many people.

I'm okay - just really busy trying to get everything done and people notified before Saturday. That's when we're having the service. I'm trying to spend time with my Dad, too. I don't want him sitting alone in the nursing home dwelling on his losses of the past year or so. It really has been a very bad year.

Much sooner than I expected. My (oldest) brother came over yesterday and fixed the problem. Don't know when I'll be able to start posting regularly, though. He went into the hospital later in the afternoon not feeling very well. He had a massive MI and didn't make it. I'm still in shock. I guess I'm going to be dealing with everything, since he put me down as his "contact person". I don't even know if he had a will.

Gothic Thank you for the card. I've been away for a few days and have only just gotten around to looking at it. The people in the card remind me a little of the dwarves in Snow White. eBay is pretty addictive. I must have spent a small fortune on the thing building up my Buffy memorabilia and other things. It comes in handy for tracking down those hard to find items. Try not to bid against me though!!
Please pass on my best wishes to Fortune Teller and Moose. How long now until there is a little baby fortune teller?

Kung Fu Nope We didn't send you an email on Monday. I was away over the weekend with teddy and didn't get back home until Tuesday. My pc is protected with McAfee antivirus and personnel firewall. I don't download suspicious attachments and do a full viruses scan at least once a month. Strangely enough, I received an email purporting to be from you also dated 18th October. After checking the email I traced the originating IP address to a Shaw Communications in Canada and reported the abuse to them, then deleted the email as it obviously wasn't from you. I've been receiving a lot of spoofed emails lately trying to pretend to be delivery failures. Obviously some people have a lot of time on their hands and nothing better to do. It's pretty unlikely that anyone would get an email from teddy anyway it takes him ages to type with his paws.

Maybe something good will come from a totally unexpected direction. I avoided BtVS when it first came on the scene because I wasn't particularly interested in a vampire show. I little realized what a high quality show it was until I happened across it a few times in fits of channel surfing.

Small, brown and fury and eats loads of cookies.....It's teddy bear!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi all....just doing a quick post as we're off on a long weekend and the nasty ol' warlock has left me no end of chores to do.

LdyKnight: Hay nice to see you again.. Did you take the ducks with you to Uni? Your room must be pretty small if you think the one Buffy had was big. From what I recall it wasn't that spacious. Anyway, hope all goes well for you and good luck with getting into Evita next semester.

Dogtrot: It's difficult finding something decent to fill the void left by BtVS and Angel but I don't know if Sky's attempt at a copy will succeed. Buffy was innovative and ground breaking but Hex appears to be little more that a clone albeit with some minor changes. Still a pale imitation is better than nothing I guess.
I know some people here aren't into Charmed, but I like to see the witches kick some warlock bottom...and Phoebe!! Rack can't stand the thing and couldn't understand why Cole Turner kept turning into "Darth Maul" as he put it.

tarasApprentice: I don't know about a wake..perhaps a seance for the computer would be a better idea. Rack claims that to easy Willow's conscious over the death of a poor innocent warlock that his name sake should be brought back by Buffy. Typical warlock..always thinking of themselves.

I have to inform you people of terrible atrocities that are being inflected on poor defenceless teddy bears. On Rack's favourite cable music channel (- if you can call the stuff that he listens to music), Kerrang (channel 819 on NTL), they have something called "Ready, Teddy, Death". In this poor excuse for entertainment little teddy bears like me are horribly killed in all sorts of fashion. From being burnt to death at the stake or by fireworks, drowned, set in cement...oh the list goes on. Rack says they are being punished for watching Charmed and cheering on witches. Secretly, I wouldn't be surprised if he was behind it. I'm pretty sure that I saw him writing to them. He says it was to demand that they play some Lawnmower Deth, but I'm not so sure now.

Quickly time for...Rack's teddy bear's track of the week. Seeing as we shall be there a week this Saturday..it's "New York, New York" by Frank Sinatra
Okay, you know how it goes and it's time for these little vagabond shoes stray back to my chores otherwise I might end up on "Ready, Teddy, Death".....oh hum.

Whyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy??????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!??????????????

I just found this out from someone named princess_nilz:

Joss said the following at Wizard World Chicago:

Buffy and Angel were the hot topic of the panel with a lot of insightful questions asked. The most poignant one was Joss regretting his inability to resurrect the deceased character Tara, played by Amber Benson (who is also signing autographs all weekend at the show coincidentally) The fans were moved when he told them how he had planned to bring her back. Towards the end of the final season Joss intended star Buffy (played by Sarah Michelle Gellar) to be granted one, as he puts it, "get out of jail free card" and change one thing in her life she'd like to have back. Rather than the obvious choices of having Angel or her mother back in her life she would instead choose to make her best friend’s life complete again, bringing back Willow's lover who was killed off at the end of season 6.

I have just returned from her LJ where our beloved and revered Almond says this:

"My computer is deader than the deadest thing in Deadonia.
It quit working yesterday. Not being talented at computerese, I can't describe what's wrong with it, so let's just leave it at "it's fallen and it can't get up". My brother-who-loaned-it-to-us said he'd take a look at it "when he has some free time", so if I'm lucky I may be back on-line in a month or so.
I'm at the library right now, but I can't do this often, and when I do I'll need to spend my time cleaning out my email accounts so I don't lose them. I'm sorry, but I won't have time to post anywhere or answer emails."

Hi there! I am having quite a nice time so far, though as I am only taking theater classes this semester I am probably having more fun than most.

If I am ever in a show here, I will try to get something here. I'm not acting this semester, but I have high hopes for getting into Evita this spring.

and so far, my roommate has not tried to do anything demonish. though, it would almost be ok if she was evil, if we could have a room the size of the one Buffy got.

I must go study for stagecraft. Or quite possibly, I might forget about more studying and go to sleep. That sounds like much more fun. *is a huge slacker*

I really like Veronica Mars, which probably dooms it to a short run. I hope UPN doesn't pull it's typical "el-foldo" with this show. I could like this for a good long time.

I lke Lost. This show is getting good ratings so for once there is some joy in my TV life. David Fury is involved in Lost which gives me good vibes. I've never gotten into Smallville, so it's no contest for me. However, I do actually like the 70's Show. So I tape that and watch later.

It's a shame about Tru Calling. I like Eliza too (who doesn't?!). I taped this show from the beginning so I do have it for future viewing.

The article about SMG's new project with the Donnie Darko guy sounds promising. I really liked Donnie Darko and am waiting for the new Director's cut to come out on dvd.

I keep waiting for a new Alyson Hannigan show. She is my favorite Buffy actor, Though I am a big SMG fan too.

This summer I went to Santa Barbara (about 300 miles south of my home) to a bookstore where they have celebrity autograph and photo events. It was a long, long day, but it was a lot of fun. Earlier this summer my daughter and I went to see a NO DOUBT concert in the same town...an even longer day but pretty exciting. No Doubt can really rock!

My van has certainly seen better days. I'm actually surprised it's lasted this long. I bought it from my ex-wife about 4 years ago as a spare car and sheetrock, plywood, and "big box" carrier. I think I'll replace it with a little pick up. But that shouldn't be for another two years (unless it falls apart first).

Fire You're quite right about my mistake I knew it was called the death star but I think I had Stephen Kings Dark Tower on my mind as I'd seen a advertising poster for it recently and King was mention in my post. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.
You do have a good point about realism in films. Especially SciFi flicks. Lasers and engines that make noise in space, spaceships that bank and manoeuvre like aeroplanes..the list goes on.
I think that dragons are real too..I'm sure my old maths teacher was one...think it was the tail that was a give-a-way.

Dogtrot I've been try to keep track as to whether or not the show is actually cancelled. It looks like they've got six episodes in the can and I guess that Fox will make up its mind up the whether or not to order more depending on ratings. But even the traffic on the official site is misleading with some people on the posting board there saying that it's cancelled. Someone even stated that they got word from Eliza herself that the show had been axed. A "oh hum" situation in any case, but I can't help wondering if this could herald a return of my beloved Fith

Almond Nope I'm not on vacation yet, still about two weeks to go. Didn't know my hire car choice was of so much interest. As you know I'm not risking driving in NY. but I have decided to treat myself to a limo from the airport to the hotel. Comes with a complementary mini bar, tv/video and cellular phone. I like pretending that I'm a bigwig, even if I'm more like an earwig. For L.A. I've gone for a convertible Mustang or similar as it said on the hire form. So I'll have to wait and see if I actually get one - but fingers crossed.
I've seen some of those Warlock books that you told me about sometime ago for sale on ebay. So I thought that I might try one of those next when I've finished with the "His Dark Materials" books (I'm half way through Amber spyglass at the minute), but I'll keep an eye out for Cordelia's Honor (sounds almost like a Buffy book title) and schedule that in sometime. Unfortunately, I don't get to read as often as I'd like so it takes me a while to finish a book.

I caught a trailer for "The Grudge" when I when to see "Saw" recently. It certainly looks a better flick than the Scoobie Doo movies and is a more positive career step for SMG. Speaking of SMG......

It seems that the loss of BtVS as affected poor Sky so much that they have practically cloned the series and created a British version. Here's a bit of blurb from the show's official site Set in a remote English school, Hex is the chilling story of one girl's exploration of the supernatural and her own sexual awakening.

Cassie is a shy student who discovers she is cursed by terrifying links to the past. Longing to be popular, but only truly loved by her best friend, Cassie will come to realise she possesses dangerous powers.

Stalked by Azazeal, the leader of the Nephelim, it will fall to Cassie to fight against the powerful forces that threaten her existence

Here's a link for a synopsis for the first episode. Could Thelma be anymore like Willow? Except Willow didn't have a crush on Buffy. Anyways, Hex starts on Sunday 17th October (which is pretty close to a well known evil date) at 21:00.

I managed to get hold of Wonderfalls on dvd and have just started to watch it. I've only seen the unaired pilot so far but it does remind me a lot of Joan of Arcadia. I'm thinking of starting a support group for people who are pestered by talking plastic animals/deities so that they don't have to feel bullied in to doing good stuff all the time.

A little bird faerie told me a bout a graphic novel about a teddy bear. No ordinary teddy bear, the galaxy's greatest evil escapes confinement on it's homeworld and possesses the body of a discarded teddy bear here on Earth. So you have this cute little teddy bear who is REALLY REALLY naughty. There is even a collaboration with Clive Barker on a parody of Hellraiser. "Deady the Malevolent Teddy", by Voltaire is available at around $5.95, although you maybe able to get it cheaper from some online retailers. No truth to the rumour that it's based on the familiar of some little known warlock.

Well I know that you're all missed this but it's back...Rack's track of the week...inspired by an email from our own Spikegood, late of this parish, concerning Mount St Helens it's Eruption by Van Halen

Appearing on the bands first album and one of the best debut albums that there is, this short guitar bit of widdle-y-ness helps explain why Eddie quickly established himself a guitar god. You can just close you eyes an imaging larva bursting through the magma, bellowing ash clouds and droplets of molten larva descending everywhere. Other notable reasons for having Van Halen one in your collection are a supped up version of the Kinks classic "You've really got me", "Little dreamer", "Running with the devil" and a personal favourite of mine "Ain't talking about love". Oh why did they get rid of diamond Dave?

Right..I'm off to Mt St Helens to toast some marshmallows...com'on teddy grab that fork..

Take care all!!!

Got your attention, didn't I? *eg*

Hello all! I think I'm doing better - it's only been two weeks this time!

dogtrot: I haven't seen any previews of The Grudge yet (though I've been hearing very good things), but I happened across this article at buffyworld about a new project of SMG's that looks interesting. I don't think she needs to worry about her career - it really seems to be gaining momentum!
It's a shame Tru Calling looks to be headed down the tubes, especially since I thought it was starting to get much better - and much less predictable - by the end of last season. Wasn't Doug Petrie working on it? And I hear Jane Espenson is joining the staff this year. Maybe the Buffy fandom will give it another chance, and its ratings will improve. I hope so - I likeEliza! *s*
I only saw the first episode of Lost, and I have to admit I didn't much care for it. Hubby rather liked it, and we might have tried it again if it hadn't been scheduled opposite Smallville. On the other hand, I've fallen in like with Veronica Mars! May it live long and prosper! *g*
Where did you go - was it in August? - where you got to see all the Buffy peeps?
Sorry about your van. I guess all good things must come to an end. *s* Do you have a replacement vehicle in mind yet?

Hi Fire! I believe in dragons, too! As soon as I find one, we're off to live in a nice dry cave somewhere in the mountains. I think I'll call him George. *g*

Rack the Caterpillar Stomper: You're welcome for the pic. I must be psychic! I saw it and somehow I just knew you'd like it. Eerie, huh? *g*
I'm glad you liked WA enough to want to read more. As I've probably said before, I'd recommend you backtrack now and read Miles' parents' story. That would be Shards of Honor followed by Barrayar. The two books have been re-released as Cordelia's Honor, so they should be easy to find when you're ready for them.
I haven't really been watching the games this year, though from what I understand Brett was injured rather badly in the last one. I think we Wisconsinites may as well write the Packers off this season.
Are you on vacation now? I hope you're enjoying your time in the States if that's the case. You will tell us all about it when you get back, won't you? Don't forget to let us know what kind of car you rented in LA this year. *g*

Hey Kung Fu! It's good to "see" you! How's your poor leg? (And your head? *g*)
I'm surprised you didn't conjure up tarasApprentice with that "Sean sighting"! *s* The "Hercules project" sounds like something to look forward to.
So "Army life" is almost over? I know how much you'll miss it! Seriously, it will be a big change, but I'm sure you'll adjust - and I know you'll be accepted at university. So no cardboard box for you! Do you still want to be a teacher? Did you ever tell us what kind? (Yes, I know, a good one, but what subject?)
I really don't know what I did to my arm. It's been better the last couple of days, though, so I think whatever was done is coming undone. *g* (cc Gothic)

Gothic: Sending you ~~good luck vibes~~ on the job search!
Wow! It sounds like you really messed yourself up bad! Are you healing okay? You can have some sympathy from me. (Oh, and be more careful! lol)
Did you get the email with the info on livejournal? Have you thought anymore about getting one?

Well, I'd love to get into a conversation about some of the new shows or some of our old favorites, but I'm so tired I can't see the keyboard. It's bedtime for me!

Goodnight!

I've heard some pretty good reviews about SMG's new movie, The Grudge. I hope it does well. I'd like to see SMG have a good career.

Also, it sounds like bad news about the TV show, Tru Calling (Eliza Dushku), at best the show might not air until next year and apparently the run will be 6 epi's, if any. There is some talk that the show is going on indefinite hiatus and that talks are in the works to try and sell it to another network.

If anybody has had the chance to see the new UPN (boo!) show, Veronica Mars, I hope you like it as much as I do. It hasn't gotten very good ratings it's first two epi's, and it was pre-empted for the Vice Presidential debate this week. I hope UPN gives it a chance. I think it could be a lot of fun.

And how about Lost?! It looks like ABC has a hit, and amazingly, a great show too, on it's hands. I've seen three episodes so far and am entusiastic about it. David Fury is connected with the show.

Oh wasn't that wonderful.

After a weekend that would make even the evillest have fun, fear factor stuff and all, I happen to be back.

Kung fu Cowboy,
I was going to get the Star Wars DVDs, but after a discussion with one of my friends, I decided not to. They're supposed to be only the re-released versions, and I quite like the full versions. I think I'll just drop by e-bay. Another thing, comparing- Empire and Clones. Empire: there is dirt on everything. It's very realistic. Clones: Even though they wrestle in the mud (well, not exactly, but close enough) everything is still spotless, and looks CG. My friend made a comment that plastic cups on sticks look more realistic than CG ships. Although I still love Lucas' work, I only have a 3d puzzle of R2D2 sitting on my shelf (along with about 30 or more books) that's in desperate need of a dusting.

Rack,
Rose Red was a TV miniseries. Usually I'm not much a Stephen King reader, but that was the one book I could read.
And I must make a correction. It was the Death Star, not the Dark star, and Dragons do exist, just not on manufactured superweapons. Sadly enough, looking for this link, I found that many of my old haunts have been shut down.

Slowly...inch by measured inch a caterpillar makes it way from the shadow of a small wooden table in the corner of the Magic Box. At top of the table is an attractively decorated plant holder which houses, not surprisingly, a plant. A "weeping fig" to be precise, which had served as home to our little adventurer until recently. Seconds become minutes and minutes in turn become hours. The caterpillar makes towards the door, sensing as it does that something great is soon to happen to it, a magnificent and wondrous transformation. Suddenly it pauses. Head raised it peers into the middle distance. "Ohh" it thinks to itself as what appears to be a tear appears in midair. It watches transfixed as the tear appear to widen, brilliant white light streaming in through the new aperture, bathing the little insect below. Through the portal a dark show appears, casting the small caterpillar into semi-darkness. A boot emerges through the portal and begins to descend towards the floor. "I wonder what that is?" ponders the inquisitive little one. Unfortunately for the caterpillar the boot is heading for the poor little chap. "Ugh!!!" thinks the owner of the boot "What have I trodden on?" undeterred the warlock quickly makes towards the darkness 'neath the stairs

Hi everyone!!

Gothic: Good luck with the job hunting, hope that things turn out well for you. Don't forget that Giles started of working in a museum, come to think of it, which I do, there's a few old fossils where I work too.

Kung Fu Good luck in getting into university. I'm sure that you'll make a far better student than I ever did. What subject(s) are you looking at taking?

I know that I'm gonna be in a minority with this, but I always found the star wars films a little lightweight, especially the first (or fourth in the story as it would/will be). It seemed like little more than an updated fairytale with a space setting. When they were rescuing the princess from the castle dark star I almost expected them to come across a dragon.....and maybe shrek. "Empire" was probably the best of the initial trio. I didn't care much for "Return..", and those little furry creatures were far worse than a teddy bear. Still, "Revenge of the Sith" (I think that's what they're gonna call it) sounds like it sound be better.

*the warlock ducks a few wooden fish and a wooden millennium falcon*

Almond Hay nice to see you again. You'd be pleased to know that I actually finished reading "Warriors Apprentice" some time ago. Must get round to doing a follow up post on the second half. I'd certainly consider reading another book in the series when I get the chance. Since then I managed to complete the first two novels in the "His Dark Materials" trilogy and I've made a start on the last book "Amber spyglass". Which is pretty good going seeing as I only really get to read at the weekend. Thanks for the piccies of her most gorgeousness, I might use one on my mobile as I think I worn the one out that I have on it at the moment. I caught the Packer -Colts game on Sunday. Two of the best quaterbacks - possibly ever - going head to head. A pretty good game to watch...unless you're a packers' fan I guess.

Extra Evil Flamey Goddess Firey one I caught a (T.V.?) movie based on "My life at Rose Red", although this was simply called "Rose Red". I watched it thinking it would be about Snow White's sister but it turned out to be about some haunted mansion. Reminded me a little of "The Legend of Hell House". It had Julian Sands in it who is best known for playing the warlock in the film erm.."Warlock". Poor teddy had nightmares from watching it.
It appears that Britany's marriage may just be ha hoax to detract the press from the real event or to generate more publicity. Teddy has a theory that she's addicted to wedding cake and couldn't hold out to get her next "fix".

Last week was pretty sad for those of us who live in Nottingham and follow football. Last Monday Brain Clough died, he was the manager of Nottingham Forest when we won the league and two European cups back to back. He managed to get a small football club to punch well above it weight and challenge the bigger well established clubs. My favourite Cloughie quote is the one when he's talking about how he reckoned he did as a manager..."I wouldn't say that I was the best manager in the world - but I was certainly in the top one.

Must dash....

Take care all!! (especially caterpillars)

hey peeps!

I come in here all the time, but i don't have much to say on the whole. i lead quite a boring life these days. I love to lurk, ha ha ha ha, loud and long and clear.....wait, hang on, that's "i love to laugh" from mary poppins! lol.

Almond - big big healing hugs!

i don't know if i've said this before - but here goes, i lose my job (pa to the secretary of the royal engineers) in january as my contract finishes. i have applied for a job as "office manager" in the museum, as well as a part-time counselling course. i am waiting to here about both.....

gothic crosses her fingers and toes for good luck

some good news - have got a double bed at last and i love it! there's a lot to be said for sleeping diagonally in a really big bed!

some not-so-good news - i had an accident yesterday. dad made the shower room floor all wet and didn't mop it up, then i had a shower, stepped out, slipped on the mat and went crashing to the ground! wasn't too bad, thank goodness, but have a lot of tender areas today (left shoulder, right hip, right ankle especially). also, i cut my elbow open. grr arg! i know what my mum would say if she were here now - "be more careful!" lol - she was never very good at sympathy!

see you soon.

a small swirling maelstrom of energy begins to turn in the air just in front of the counter of the Magic Box. A Battleaxe lying apparently forgotten in a corner clatters to the ground as the maelstrom gets bigger. With a sound like a hundred thousand people saying "WOP" out falls Kung Fu Cowboy...directly onto his head

Long way to bring a lot of people to say one word...

Hi everyone! How goes it in the big wide world?

Apparently I've been pulled out of lurkdom, but that's okay I've been meaning to post for a while, just haven't been able to think of anything to say. Some things never change.
Congratulations FortuneTeller! on your forthcoming child; I hope all goes well for you and the bub in the coming months.

As for me I'm winding down during my last few months in the Army. I'm discharging on December 10 and it's exciting but a little scary at the same time. I've put in my application to go to university next year, now I just have to wait to see if I get accepted or not. At 24 I've been in the army for seven years so it's going to be a massive change but I'm hoping it will be worth it. Anyway if it doesn't then I'm pretty sure there is some good accomodation to be had in Card Board Box real estate.

Almond What have you managed to do to yourself now? I myself managed to stab myself in the leg with a very sharp knife a couple of weeks ago, I hope your arm isn't that painful.

I got my Star Wars DVD box set last week. It's just as good as I had hoped. I don't usually admit it even to myself but I am a Star Wars nerd [or is that just a plain nerd], I can't help it; it's all just so cool. I'm just hoping the dvds will tide me over until next May when episode three comes out.

Hey that's where I left my battleaxe. I think I'll leave it hear for now, my friends are keeping me away from sharp objects at the moment.

Later All!

Glad to see some life here. Did anyone have a chance to catch Lost (David Fury is writing for this show I think), Veronica Mars, the new Gilmore Girls, and Joan of Arcadia? If I can have these shows for the rest of the TV season I'll be happy.

Amber Benson was doing an autograph signing in Santa Barbara today (it's about a five hour drive each way) but I had to get my van smog checked (I was at the deadline) and it barely passed with not a ppm to spare. This will be the last two years of life for my poor old van I'm afraid. Anyway, I didn't get to go see AB. I did see Christian Kane, Amy Acker, Sarah Hagan, Indigo and another Potential Slayer last month though, so it was a pretty good summer. Oh, and I hope everyone had a chance to hear the very last Succubus Club. It seemed like old times there for a couple of hours.

Yes, I know I've been one of the "unwashed misses" - I was kinda hoping you'd over-look that fact. :P

What's new with all of you? Almond goes for a quick scroll. I see Fortune Teller is having a baby. Congratulations! I hope all goes well - you and your family must be so excited. I can see by her post that Gothicwoman certainly is! *g* What else...ah! Dogtrot just reminded me of a movie I loved the first time I saw it - Endless Summer. It was so funny with such a peaceful feel to it. Coincidentally, I saw it again recently on a PBS channel. She takes a moment for a bit of nostalgia, then continues scrolling. Hmmm, Rack will be in the States next month. Better hide our babies and our beadwork! *eg* Oh, that reminds me! I brought Rack a prezzie! Go here to see it.
What have I been up to, you ask? Oh, com'n! Somebody ask! I've been getting Dad settled in his new room at the nursing home - putting up bookshelves and the like, and packing up everything he wants to hang on to at his house - 'cause the house has been sold. We have 'til the end of this month to get everything out.
There's a lot more I'd like to say, but as I've somehow managed to screw up my other arm now, it will have to wait. TTYL! *poof*

Rack, I quite enjoyed the crack about hoping this BS (adequate) marraige lasts longer than the contents of your refrigerator.

As of late, my life has been winding down, with the start of school, but the end of the season. I try my best to get here, but some mornings it's just not enough. I blaze (no pun inteded) through the weeks without a second thought, sometimes even without a first.

I've started numerous projects (knitting crocheting, painting, reading) that are far from being completed (except the reading, I'd highly reccomend The Diary of Ellen Rimbaur, My Life at Rose Red by Stephen King). And now I'm off, to do none of those things, but to work!

The still, tranquil quiet of the Magic Box is momentary broken by the sound of the fabric of time and space being split as though cut by some subtle knife. Through the portal that has been open steps the Box's warlock. He pauses for a while as if acknowledging some invisible "silence" sign before striding toward the comforting velvety cloak of the darkness beneath the stairs.
Rack quietly ponders the question at is usually the reserve for late night DJs, namely "is there anybody out there?"

Well I guess that everybody must be off leading busy lives or enjoying themselves.

Anyways, I wish that I had some great piece of news to talk about or something that might be a distant relation to that that we term "interesting" but alas I don't. Still, I notice that Britany Spears has got married again. Hopefully this one lasts longer than some of the stuff I have in my fridge. JoA did well getting nominated in two categories, Best actress (drama) and best series (drama). Considering the strength of the opposition there was little chance of it winning, but quite an achievement for a first series in getting nominated.

Later than normal but with a bit of sadness I bring you this Track of the week. Why the sadness I hear you ask (or is that just some crickets chirping), well on Thursday I found out that Johnny Ramone had lost his battle with cancer, so this week's offering is "I wanna be sedated" by The Ramones
The Ramones rose to fame in New York in the 70s with their brand of unpolished, high-energy songs played at breakneck speed. They were possibly the founding fathers of punk and helped pave the way for British punk bands such as the Clash and The Sex Pistols, but never really matched the commercial success of those that followed them.
The Ramones are best know for their downbeat, nihilistic songs such as "Blitzkrieg Bop," "Teenage Lobotomy" and "Now I Wanna Sniff Glue" as well as the more subtler " Sheena is a punk Rocker". All famously brief and counted in with a trademark "one-two-three-four!" introduction. The reason for picking "Sedated" is that it has a Buffy connection. Spike idly croons it whilst on a phony stakeout with Buffy in the season five episode "Crush" and it originally appears on the Ramones' 1978 album "Road to Ruin" and is also somewhere on radio magic box.
Johnny is the third member of the band to die in recent years. Singer Joey Ramone, born Jeffrey Hyman, died in 2001 of lymphatic cancer. Bassist Dee Dee Ramone, born Douglas Colvin, died from a drug overdose a year later. A documentary, "End of the Century: The Story of the Ramones," should be on release in cinemas shortly, and former Ramones drummer Marky Ramone, if I'm right the last surviving member, has overseen the recent release of a DVD called "Ramones Raw."

Just time left to say a customary..."take care all" or as The Ramones might have put it "Hey Ho Lets Go"

The Eastern Lithuanian mystic pencil tops in one of the many glass display cabinets slowly cease to tremble. As do the glass jars and assorted nick-nacks behind the counter. The cause of the disturbance begins to dwindle and fade; the portal that brought the Magic Box's only truly evil inhabitant having just about closed. Its passenger turns slowly on one heel, leather trench coat swirling as his body twists so that it is now facing towards the stairs. With a brisk stride he heads towards them, veering at the last moment so that he instead enters the darkness beneath. Opening the mini fridge he devours a couple of the plump red contents.

Mazzy: I'm pleased to see that you're much better these days. Yep, I'm all in favour of meeting with some "crazy Buffy loving peeps". I'm actually in N.Y. from Oct 23rd to 28th, which is when I fly out to LAX. As you can see I'm only in N.Y. for a short spell. I was hoping to see the Giants play on the Sunday but for some strange reason Giants stadium is in New Jersey (which you'd have thought made them the New Jersey Giants), so I may have to knock that on the head. Other than that I'm planning on seeing some Broadway show as that's just around the corner from my hotel and with luck I won't get lost (but I probably will) , visit the Statue of Liberty and a few other touristy things. So let me know when you're free and I'll plan round that. BTW, what's the weather like that time of year?

Hope the moving to your new abode goes smoothly.

A quick update on the latest quiz scores. Almond and Mazzy have scored a respectable 70. Equalling Mr Warlock's score of 80 are Kung fu Cowboy and a poster with no name. But leading at the moment is Whitestar with an impressive 90.

Just in case there are any more Charmed fans out there (other than teddy) it appears that they attracted another waif and stray from a show that has ended. Aside from Charisma Carpenter it appears now that Kerr Smith will be joining the show for a number of episodes as a love Interest for Paige. Kerr played Jack McPhee in the Rack and Apprentice to tarasaApprentice approved "Dawson's Creek", which I suppose gives teddy a feeble excuse for watching it now.

Okay, I that you've missed it during the past few weeks, but now it's back!! Yes.. it's track of the week. As they are getting a fair amount of coverage for their latest offering I've plumped for a previous record of Bowling for soup, namely Girl all the bad guys want

I always liked the video to this song with the way that it poked fun at Limp Bizkit's "Break stuff" video and the video to their current song "1985" again parodies other artists' vidoes of the era. But without the visuals to backup the lyrics the latest offering doesn't stand up so well musically as "Girl.." does. Quite obviously the girl all the bad guys want is Fith. BTW, does anyone know where their name comes from? I know that Michael Moore did a film called "Bowling for Columbine" but I don't think that it comes from that given the nature and content of the film.

Have to get going so....

Sometimes I'm just a little lurkier than usual. I apologize for that. It's funny but I would think I'd have more time to post since the show's ended. It's not that I'm not a fan anymore, quite the opposite. The Buffyverse flame is still burning strong as far as I'm concerned.

I've been doing some more writing for the Quill Mistresses site. At the Vegas Writer Con, we (Magista and I), discovered drabbles, which are 100 word stories...EXACTLY 100 words. We have been posting some over at the fiction thread of The Barge They are fun little moments that keep us in good writing form and give us something fun and exciting to do.

What else??? Just more of the same. I still love Oz (in case any of you were wondering LOL).

I'm moving soon. Not far, just 20 mins west of current location, but it's still "aaahcck!" like most moving is. They just better properly hook up my internet connection and do it in a timely fashion! Harrumph! Hopefully, it will all work out.

A familiar crackle can be heard as the air blisters and tears revealing a glowing white opulence. This displays all the trademarks of a portal opening and indeed from the aperture steps forth one of the Magic Box's more eccentric inhabitants. With a swish of his leather trench coat he strides purposefully towards the darkness 'neath the stairs.

Fortune Teller: A big CONGRATULATIONS to both you and moose (and Gothic on becoming an Aunt). Of course now that you're pregnant you'll have to give up the things that helped get you that way..boozing, smoking and clubbing. Although, I fail to see how hitting people with clubs helped get you pregnant. Don't forget that what every baby needs is a teddy bear.

Dogtrot: It does sound quite idyllic to be able to follow the progress of your favourite season as it wends its way round the globe. But I think that I would miss something of the variety that the seasons bring and it does give you something to look forward to. I'm just glad that we don't get Autumnal weather like the unfortunate people in Florida and the Caribbean. However, I wouldn't mind some of their Summer weather.

I finally managed to see "The Village" on Saturday so here's my views on it.
Village review in spoiler font so as not to spoil it if you haven't seen it yet....***

Having seen two out of M. Night Shyamalan three previous films, albeit the two with Bruce Willis (Signs being the one that I've missed so far), expectations were fairly high for this his fourth offering. Especially considering some of the talent assembled for this, William Hurt, Adrien Brody and Sigourney Weaver. The problem is by now we expect a twist in Shyamalan's films and I spent most of the film trying to figure it out. What worked so well in "The sixth sense" and "Unbreakable" appears to becoming a milestone around his neck. Teddy's theory that the "those we don't speak of" were giant killer rabbits was quickly dismissed and I chastised him for even thinking so ridiculous, then crossed it of my list of possible endings.
The actual story as you probably gathered from the trailers centres around a some almost Amish like village located out in the woodland of America. Another thing about the village is that there is no electricity or motorised vehicles making it difficult to establish a time setting for this period. Solely based on the evidence before your eyes, I made the mistake of putting things around the latter part of the 19th century, about 1880 to 1900.
Having settled in their new homeland it appears that they have some rather unwelcome neighbours how inhabit the forest that surrounds their village. Although never mentioned, it is implied that they were responsible for the deaths of some of the early settlers. Thus having set the scene what appears to unfold is a romance between the tomboyish Ivy Walker (newcomer Bryce Dallas Howard) and the stoic Lucius Hunt (Joaquin Phoenix). Things start to become mildly interesting when a rash of dead animals appear, all of whom have been skinned had there fur removed. Alarm bells started to ring when this was blamed on an insane coyote rather than the supposed creepy inhabitants of the forest. But I found that the fear of he "bad colour" was the most frightening and daunting proposition. Anything red was banned from the village, I looked a teddy and said "do you realise that they have no..no strawberries". What did make everyone jump was when the guard in the watchtower spotted a red cloaked figure heading towards the village. The fact that we only saw one figure had already started to confirm my suspicions that it was someone from the village in costume. Wild animals don't feel the need to dress up like little red riding hood I thought. The village's idiot, Noah Percy (Brody), had become prime suspect. Events conspire to have the need for someone to venture in to the forest to get medical from the town, when Noah makes sure that Lucius gets the point that he isn't too keen on his recent engagement to the blind Ivy. Ivy volunteers to fetch the needed supplies for he beloved and no sooner has a small party been despatched into the forest, Ivy's more abled bodied escort decide that she might fare better on her own and namely that they've too scared to go on. Just over halfway into her journey Ivy encounters a red cloaked figure which resembled a large porcupine (or a demented hedgehog as teddy put it). The gutsy Ivy manages to despatch the strange looking foe, although considering that she's blind you have to question the need for such an elaborate costume, save for the fact that it's for our benefit and not Ivy's. Ivy does well navigating her way through unknown woodlands and manages to reach a hidden road which will lead her to the town she seeks. It's at this point that what I suppose the real twist is revealed and I have to confess that I didn't guess it before it was sprung on us, I was questioning why the myth of the forest creatures was created.
In all despite some worthy performances, a special note should be made of Ms Bryce's first film performance, a turn that I think will bode will for the future and some beautiful and atmospheric photography the film disappoints with its plot revelations. One was easy enough to figure and I suppose some had worked out the main twist. But you can't help thinking that Mr Shyamalan has become something of a slave to them. The film contains some interesting characters and he has a pleasing eye for a shot. Perhaps in his next film the twist at the end will be that there is no twist at the end.

end "the village" review

Teddy wanted me to point out that Thursday 9th of September is Teddy bear day, so give your teddy a big hug tomorrow...if you feel you must.

The last show went on the air as scheduled. Kitty, Candy and Producer Ethan were in fine form, and they didn't absolutely rule out the possibility of some sort of return to the air for a one-shot show in the indeterminate future.

Sorry I haven't been around for a while, only I have not been online since March as I have been nest building (refurbishing my house, new kitchen, refitted shower room and decorated). Of course, I didnt know why I felt the need to revamp everything, since I have never been any good at telling my own Fortune! However, two months ago it all became clear.

I AM HAVING A BABY !!!!

Clean living and IVF failed last year. This year, smoking, boozing and clubbing resulted in a spontaneous pregnancy. Now I know what they mean when they say "It will happen when you stop trying." I just wish someone had told me the correct recipe ten years ago !!!

Anyway, love to you all, and its good to be back!

How is everyone?

Saw a sneak preview screening of Anacondas this week. It is a laugh riot! Someone said they thought it was supposed to be scary, but this was clearly made as a comedy. At least...I hope it was. ;)

Anyway, they showed the trailer for SMG's The Grudge. Now THAT looks scary! :)

For everyone who has always asked how they could get an autographed copy of my book...I've put one up on EBAY and will personalize it for the winner. Here's the address if you're interested:

KRYSTAL - No that spell was not real. All the writers at one time or another have talked about how they just made them up and that it was just part of writing the script.

Andrew - I saw Joss at the end of last month at an event and he said no, nothing is in the works right now concerning the Buffyverse but in the not too near future he hopes so. The only thing that may have a chance of coming to fruition anytime soon is the animated series. It's been in the works for quite awhile now but rumors of it finally airing are coming out again so...keep your fingers crossed.

Dogtrot - thanks for the reminders *s*

If you guys have not yet seen the trailer for SMG's new film The Grudge - you must watch it. Copy and paste this addy http://movies.yahoo.com/movies/feature/thegrudge.html and view it. There's a little special intro from SMG at the begining as well. It looks terrifying, I kid you not.

Okay people, have to be quick I'm afraid. Just to let you know that a new Magic Box Quiz has been uploaded. In keeping with recent topics this is based on season 4 of BtVS and was again compiled by the Mistress of quizzes and befuddlement tarasApprentice. Rack managed to score 80% without cheating. So off you go and beat his score.

Just to update on what Almond mention in her last post. Actress Charisma Carpenter will be making at least two guest starring appearances on Charmed. She is slated to play a Seer in two episodes: "Cheaper by the Coven" and "Styx Feet Under". Although there is talk of her becoming a more regular member of the cast.

Almond: I always found Riley a little lacking in any real personality According to Rack Buffy's biggest love is with herself and he always thought of her as a vacuous tramp, her last beau being proof of that. You do have a point about Adam being the big bad for season 4. The whole plan of his appears to be a little feeble. A few half demon/human soldiers wouldn't be much of a match for a few M1A2 Abrams battle tanks. I'm not too sure on the Maggie Walsh point though. Scientists often have a singular point of focus which enables them to concentrate on their particular project and channel their energies to arriving at a successful conclusion. I don't think Maggie's plans went further then a military application for Adam. Maggie's only real attempt at wrong doing, from what I recall, was a rather clumsy attempt to have Buffy killed.

I had to laugh at your Charmed comment about your source being reliable. Anyone who has watched it will know that The Source was a character on the show. The original Source was vanquished, but his power was transferred to Cole Turner (Phoebe's fiancé at the time) and he later became the new Source (of all evil). As far as I know the position is still vacant. Wonder if Rack will apply?

Have to dash now. So.....

Almond , Hi!

I like S4 too. Well, I like every season. But I think Buffy later came to the conclusion that Riley was her best chance. I really enjoyed the comedic elements of the season (including Spike's funny parts -no double entendre intended).

Hello and {{hugs}} to all.

I felt a vibration in the force, tracked it here, and found season 4 "Buffy" talk - which is good, since that's the season my local station is showing on Saturday nights at the moment. (Though they are annoying me by skipping episodes...but that's a separate issue.)
I have always really liked this season. Not just for the great episodes, but because it showed Buffy moving beyond the High School Years and beginning to become an adult. She faced the insecurities of being on her own in a wider world, discovered she was able to handle the changes and challenges of that world, and ended the season with a stronger sense of self and closer bonds with her friends.
I've also recently come to the conclusion that she had her best relationship during this season. Yes, I've become a full-fledged "Ruffy"! "Bangel" was a touching story about first love and heart-break, but if you really think about that relationship it was a little "off" from the beginning. He fell in love at first sight? I think he fell in love with his chance for redemption. As for Buffy, I feel the only reason she was drawn to him in the first place was because he was mysterious, unattainable (well...at first ), and dangerous. Just what every girl her age wants.... before they know better. (At least, if you believe the movies and my dim recollection of youth.)
"Spuffy" was never a relationship. It was two people with emotional problems who lusted after each other - and a lot of that lust was an outcome of those same emotional problems. I myself was blinded by the incredible charisma and acting ability of James Marsters, but "Spuffy" never had a real chance of becoming something worthwhile until Spike got his soul - and it just didn't happen. They became good friends and comrades, but nothing more - whatever Spike may have wanted.
Buffy and Riley met as "normal" people and developed their relationship over time. When each learned the other's secret, it brought them closer together. Unfortunately, when they hit the first serious "bump in the road", they didn't talk to each other about it. (But then, Buffy always did have a tendency to keep things to herself, and I guess Riley had that trait trained into him by the Initiative.) I think we would have had a completely different outcome if she'd only run a little faster during "Into the Woods" - (spoiler for A:tS season 5) and she wouldn't be the trophy girlfriend of a certain Immortal now. (And can I just say here - that really bugged me. After the beautiful promise of a normal future at the end of "Chosen", I felt cheated to be shown how Buffy had regressed during "The Girl in Question".)(end spoiler)
I did think Maggie Walsh would have made a better Big Bad than Adam. She had the "I may be human but I'm really powerful and sliding downhill into evil because I'm concerned with nothing but my own agenda" quality down pat. He was too much the stereotypical Frankenstein's monster. The method the Scoobies used to defeat him made the arc worthwhile, though.

Jewel Staite, who played Kaylee on "Firefly", has a blog. Go here.

There is a rumor going around that Charisma Carpenter will be on "Charmed" as the new Seer. Unconfirmed as yet, but it seems the source is reliable.

Did anyone else catch the Style Channel's show called "The Ultimate Blond" (or something to that effect)? SMG was one of the people featured, and a slice of an (older?) interview was shown. She said, "BtVS was a dream job. I got to do action, drama and humor." (I didn't write it down, but I think that was a fairly accurate quote.)

That's all I've got from the Jossverse right now. I'll have to do some responses/comments at a later date, 'cause right now I gotta

*poof*

Well it's been a while but I've finally made it back to my murky corner of darkness. Regrettably, I'm working away in Milton Keynes at least until the end of the month but seeing as I'm back in the office for today I'll see if I can "borrow" one of the firm's old steam powered laptops to take with me.

Okay a quick update on the Magic Box Quiz. It seems that we finally have someone who managed to get 100%!! So congratulations Alexa for being the first person to crack tarasApprentice's quiz.

As that quiz is getting a little old we could do with a new one. So if anyone out there fancies putting their fellow posters under some mental anguish then send me your questions along with the answers and I'll upload them for you. There should be around 10 to 15 questions, multiple choice, Yes/No or True/False format. You know the usual stuff. Just to warn you people that teddy is working on one at the moment and the little fur ball has managed to come up with two Charmed/Buffy related questions. So if no one else comes up with one before him we'll have to suffer those.

When I was in the local newsagents this weekend looking for some reading material for those long lonely nights stuck in a cheep hotel room I spotted the Buffy and Angel magazines both had a pictures of her most gorgeousness on the cover and were carrying interviews with Eliza. Needless to say that I purchased both and look forward to reading her words with bated breath. Anyways, I did quickly leaf through the mags and they carried news of further additions to the Best of Buffy DVD range. Already available are the Best of...Willow, Angel, Spike, Buffy and Fith. The new ones being added are Xander, Giles, Cordelia and Dawn (a must for the Doz squad no doubt). Strangely they have missed a Best of Kennedy but surely that must be in the pipe works. Cynical marking ploy or a chance to give those who can't afford the full season DVDs a chance to purchase some classic episodes spotlighting their favourite character - I'll let you decide that. The new additions are expected around November and retail at about £12.99 (Sorry, I don't know if they're available in the U.S.)

They also carried news of the planned Buffy the animated series, no official air date as yet but it seems stars like Alyson Hannigan, Nick Brendon and Anthony Head are onboard for the series, which was well underway sometime ago before the planned network pulled the plug. Anyway, it looks like Fox have stepped into the breach and all systems are go.

Also in the works is an Angel Soundtrack the proposed track listing is as follows:-

Angel Theme (0.54) Rebellion (3.08) Cordy Meets Fred (3.23)
Start of the Apocalypse (3.36) The Trails for Darla (5.59) Princess Cordelia (1.23)
The End of the World (1.42) Dreaming of Darla (2.23) Angel Beats the Bad Guys (3.25)
Massive Assault (3.15) Untouched/Darla's Fire (2.14) Faith Takes a Turn (3.55)
Home (1.55) Darla's Sacrifice (5.41) Billy (2.37)
Hero (5.24) Welcome to Pylea (4.21) Farewell Cordelia (1.11)
Judgement and Jousting (2.38) Through the looking Glass (4.08) LA Song (3.08)
The Birth of Angelus (3.31) Castle Attack (2.23) Lady Marmalade (3.04)

What!!! I hear you scream.."No Mandy???!!!???". Well that's just what I said too. Still it can be found somewhere on radio Magic Box.

Oh before I forget...tarasApp I managed to get my rather grubby little mits on some "Wonderfalls" items. Nothing special - one of them is a plastic carrier bag from the gift shop, but I thought you might like them seeing how you're a fan of the show.

Nearly time to wrap things up, so for the first time in a while and maybe the last time for a long while ....(fanfare sounds)...it's Rack's track of the week. Delving back in time yet again, in fact I'm going back to the seventies when hair was long and I was short, not much taller than teddy is now. A number from one of the pioneers of glam metal, yes this weeks offering is Love Gun by Kiss.
In their heyday the Kiss army probably out numbered the current size of the entire British Army and they generated enough merchandising to dwarf the gross economic output of many a small country (and probably Britain too) . Other artists had worn makeup (Alice Cooper, Crazy World of Arthur Brown)before them, other artists had worn silly stage costumes (pretty much everyone can go in here)..but Kiss did it bigger and far more ridiculously than anyone else. Known to their legion of fans by names such as "Star child", "Demon /God of Thunder", "Space Ace" and "The Cat", faces plastered with so much makeup their local Avon lady must have become multi millionaire after six months. But what about the music I hear you ask (you are asking right?). Well, Kiss always looked heavier than they sounded, but that I don't mean that it looks like they eat all the pies, but more that the image tended to over (eye)shadow the music. But despite that it would be unfair to say that Simmons and Stanley didn't come up with a half decent tune every now and then and Love Gun is one of them. Politically correct? Weelllll - no. Sexist?? Sexy? What's wrong with being sexy? (copy write Spinal Tap) But who cares, certainly not I. A nice crunchy guitar intro and a quite bombastic, simplistic and catchy riff and lyrics that will infect you brain and have your tongue lolling around your (fake)blood splattered mouth. Suddenly those ridiculously high stack heel boots don't seem so bad now.

Until the next time....

Take care all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.

Sorry to have been away so long. Work has been a mess and stuff has been breaking down here at home, needing my attention.

On the good news front, Leisure books read the first three chapters of Poseidon's Children and asked to see the full manuscript! It could be months before I get an answer, however.

tarasapprentice: I saw The Village. I would give it 2 1/2 out of four stars, or 3 out of 5. About the ending...* I said months ago, after seeing the trailers..."Watch 'the twist' be that the creatures in the woods are really modern men and they have come to evict the people from the village to make way for a highway or something." Then, when William Hurt and his wife opened the box, I thought they would pull a cell phone out of it and call a dr. to say their daughter was coming for meds. LOL So no, not really a shock. The most shocking thing in the film was the stabbing scene. That took all the air out of the theater.*

the imp: We dare not risk another frontal assault. That rabbit's dynamite!
