Almond wanders through the door almost ready to face the day. She's armed with a large mug of coffee, a copy of this week's TV Guide and a Things To Do list as long as her arm. Hearing some unusual noise, she peeks in the back room. Stunned, she shakes her head in disbelief and gives her coffee a suspicious look. It must be the coffee, because she knows she did not just see the panther, Teddy, the goat and the hiefer playing poker together! The fact that they were playing for cookies and Teddy was winning makes the scene a lot more believable somehow. Putting the sight firmly out of her mind, she sits down in her comfy chair and checks the first item off her list - "Visit Magic Box".

{{Hugs}} everyone! Don't forget there's a new "Tru Calling" tonight. Also, the "Wonderfalls" pilot is being rerun afterward for those of you who might have missed it (or would like to rope a friend/family member into watching). That's not listed in my TV Guide, but if you read the letter from Tim Minear that tarasApprentice posted (Thanks! *s*) he mentions it. I plan on coercing my Dad and brother into watching, and I've been trying to get hold of the nephew who claims to have a Nielsen box (so far no luck). I'd really like to see this show last awhile!

Dogtrot: I wish I could tell you the name of the instrument, but I can't remember. It takes a big color picture of each eye which shows absolutely everything. They store it and compare it to later tests. He was saying things like "this is the optic nerve" and "this bright area is a film young people have on the back of their eye". It was very cool.
Well, her eyes are good, but she wears glasses. (Does that make sense? *g*) Her vision had improved since her last check-up, though. She got to pick out new glasses, which made her very happy. We let her get tinted ones. *g*

I post from "work" too! *eg*

Fiery Goddessy Goodness: I'm really sorry to hear that, but it's a good thing to know what was causing your distress. I know it won't be easy cutting dairy products out of your diet. When girl-child was born, she started having problems after I brought her home. Three days later she was back in the hospital for tests. One of the things that was bothering her was a sensitivity to dairy products. Because I was nursing, I had to cut them out of my diet, too. It made it very hard to find things I could eat! Going out to eat was almost impossible. There's actually a law in Wisconsin that restaurants must use butter unless the customer specifies otherwise. Well, it's the Dairy State after all. *g*

I have to run. My list is calling my name. Almond hears a tiny voice wafting up from the paper in her hand. It does not seem to be saying "Almond", however. Something about "get up out of that chair now, or I'll..." Bye!!!

Almond, I think I will like him by the end of the season, but for now I like John Stevens

On a rather nastier note, I am lactose intolerant. I was just looking at the puzzle the wrong way.

If that's the instrument I'm thinking about it is so cool! I've seen some photos from one of those but have never had a chance to use one. Retinas are pretty neat. Are her eyes good?

I often do post from work. Hey, it's better than working.

Hi. My name is Tim Minear and I write television. Usually. Right now I guess I'm writing SPAM. But I'm not asking you to donate to some shady or even worthy cause. I'm not offering to enlarge any of your body parts (though I haven't ruled it out), and I make no claims of miraculous cures for exotic diseases. What I can offer you is sixty minutes (really about forty five, minus commercials) of quality entertainment if you do one thing: turn on your TV to Fox this Friday night at nine.
For the last year or so I've been working with a bunch of really talented people to make a new show for Fox called "Wonderfalls". We've made 13 episodes so far, and I really want you to see them.
Some of the folks at the network are telling me that "Wonderfalls" is the best reviewed new series they've had in ages -- maybe ever. I'm currently sitting on a stack of raves from all over the country, from major magazines, newspapers, small dailies, internet sites, etc. They seem to be doing me no good. Also, uncomfortable because of the sitting.
The big brains at the network, while happy with the reviews, tell me that good reviews don't bring in an audience. Guess they were right. We premiered on Friday, March 12th to less than great numbers.
There are several things stacking the odds against us. Our time slot, charmingly known as "The Fox Friday Death Slot" is quickly living up to its name. There has been much confusion and differing opinion over just how to promote this odd little series. Maybe the unique charm, heart and volcanic snark aren't coming through. I dunno. Fact is, I have no power over network promotion, I can't force Fox to air "Wonderfalls" on Monday nights, I don't have a Nielsen box or know anyone who does.
But I do have this keyboard, my cable-modem and a relationship with genre fans all over the world because of the internet. All of the shows I've worked on in the last several years have had loyal internet followings. From "Lois and Clark" to "The X-Files", from "Angel" to the short-lived but much-loved "Firefly". Ever since I've been associated with genre television I've had the extreme honor and pleasure (and sometimes hair-pulling madness) of interacting with fans of these shows via the internet. You are the most dedicated, passionate and, frankly, smartest fans around.
And I'm turning to you now because I believe you're a huge untapped resource.
I know that every one of you is connected to many others that I can't reach. If you can give a hand here, you might be keeping us afloat long enough for us to catch the tide. Worth a shot, anyway.
I know the network wants this show to work. They're willing for it to work. And if there's any way that my plea now will help Friday's numbers tick up just a touch, I think that would be a tremendous sign to them.
The next new episode of "Wonderfalls" airs Friday, March 19th at 9:00pm on Fox. Please tune in and mention it to someone else. Preferably someone with a Nielsen box.
So anyway, I thought I'd mention it. Oh, also, the network is going to repeat our pilot on Thursday, March 18th at 9:00pm after "Tru Calling." So if you missed it last Friday, here's your chance to catch it.
Thanks --
Sincerely,
Tim Minear

...and I see Corsa stopped by. (Hi Corsa!) It's nice to know the universe is consistent. *eg*

I should be doing housework. Girl-child wants to have a friend spend the night on Friday, and I have an inexplicable tendency to hide the fact that my house is usually in a state of extreme disarray. (We like to pretend the light coating of dust on the furniture is charming. It goes without saying picking up the laundry in the bathroom is out of the question, since the poor cats would get cold with nothing to burrow under.) However, girl-child is supposed to be doing her career paper for English class and is on the phone instead. I'll work when she does. *g*

Wonderfalls: I loved it. Hubby liked it enough to ask me to continue taping it for him. Girl-child watched it with a puzzled expression on her face. I've seen it compared to JoA, but other than the basic premise (ie: * The PTB use a female to effect changes in the world around her. *) I don't find the two shows at all alike. "Wonderfalls" is much edgier, the humor more biting, the style too off-beat to be comparable. Also, while JoA seems to be an affirmation that a Higher Being is concerned about the world and involved in steering its course, "Wonderfalls" seems to be more about "be careful what you wish for". The main character * is apathetic and cynical, cut off from those around her and content to coast through life because she feels it doesn't really matter what she does. A run-in with a former classmate, being passed over for promotion in favor of an air-head associate, and a near-death experience combine in an unintentional "wish" that causes the universe to sit up and take notice of her. My take is it's going to be more about her journey of self-discovery to find her place in the scheme of things and reconnect with the world.
I like the main character, her sister, and the bartender/boyfriend. The inanimate objects that speak to her are great fun with a consistent personality that makes one feel they are all aspects of the same Power. The plot was in no way predictable.
* All in all, I'd recommend it. Word of warning, though - don't get too attached. Anything this ususual has a better chance of getting the ax than becoming a runaway hit. Especially if it's something I like! And I can't even begin to imagine what the Parent's Television Crazies will say about it.

Rack: If you are itching to get to the "His Dark Materials" trilogy, I'd say go for it. The fact that you've started "Warrior's Apprentice" twice now and it hasn't grabbed you yet may mean it's just not your sort of thing. I don't mind - my tastes aren't everybody's. *s*
I don't remember what the other songs on the MTV list were, but I think they all had "Angel" in the title. After you voted you were supposed to write in the why-I-chose-this-song box "As a tribute to the television program "Angel", sadly cancelled by the WB network". The point was to get it played as the chosen video with the reason announced.
Btw, "fee fi fo fum" is Latin for "the hippo stole my pants". Honestly. I looked it up. *g*

Fiery Goodness: Sorry, I haven't seen "Mac". Nor have I seen this round of "American Idol", so I have no opinion on this Jon Peter Lewis of which they speak. Though if my Goddess commands it, I'd be glad to dislike him intensely. *g*

Corsa: Two snippets of advice to make your trip easier:
1. NYC has tanning booths.
2. Buy those "breakaway" pants that convert from long to shorts.
Have a fun trip!

tarasApprentice: My weekend was just fine, thanks. *s* I managed to avoid what needed avoiding, only to have it sneak up and bite me on the...erm..ah..arm on Monday. All things on the list were accomplished in good order:
1. Excellent cheese bought and consumed.
2. Jewelry not only bought, but new dress, too. (Daughter informed me she is going to the dance after all, and could not go in the dress she had, since it is short and she needs a long dress for prom. Why did I not see that coming? *g*)
3. "Wonderfalls" watched - family bonding ensued.
4. Sock drawer cleaned - alas, no money found.
How was your weekend?

Mazzy: I got a definite "Ghost" vibe during that part of "Wonderfalls", too!
Also, (Spoiler-fonted 'cause this is a Family Board *eg*) * I believe the bartender's wife was expressing her appreciation for the hotel's fine linens by giving the bellboy a "happy". *g* *

Lionhunter: Or your dream could mean you think Buffy is going to die again. (Go toward the light, Buffy, go toward the light!) *eg*

Gothic: Of course I read whatever you write, subject titles included. *s* (That meant "smile".)
Sweetie, you could never be a bother to anyone! I'll bet they were sorry you didn't join them for their "viewing parties".
So you've been moved to an office job? What type of work are you doing now? I can sympathize with you. I hate having to adjust to new things! (You'd never believe me if I told you how long it took me to approach the microwave with confidence - never mind the computer! *g*)

Hi Blue Beard! *g*

LdyKnight: Just in case you lurk - guess what I just finished reading? The third book in the Merry Gentry series by Hamilton! Nyah nyah na na nyah! *g*

And on that note......

hey peeps!

have been lurking briefly but haven't had time to post for a few days. who would have thought having a full-time job and housework to do would be so time consuming?!

Almond - lol at the sneezing on body parts comment! i didn't think anyone read my strange msg titles that have nothing to do with anything!

what does *s* mean? im confuzzled.

yeah, i think ft and corsa did do that for a while but i didn't get involved - it was easier just to watch them on sky in the right order and without having to keep meeting up with other ppl, even if i did get them later. i dont like to bother ppl.

Rack - see above! thanx for the offer but i'm ok watching them on sky. however, it would be nice knowing what you all thought about various eppy's. if you could send me any thoughts about the eppy's up to now (you know which one im on now), they would be very much appreciated.

Lionhunter, TarasApp and Mazzy - hugs! i hardly get to speak to you guys these days. feel free to e-mail me whenever.

dogtrot - what's she studying? i sometimes wish i'd have stayed at uni, but i guess it wasn't meant to be. i have half a midwifery degree - very useful if you want to deliver half a baby! lol

i start a new job tomorrow, am being moved to a different department in the barracks. i am a bit scared about it. hope it goes well! i didn't get made permanent in my job as i'm over qualified, apparently. they feel i'd be more challenged and better suited in an office job. i suppose that wasnt meant to be either. why can't anything ever be simple for me? grr!

I had the most surreal dream last week. I dreamt that all the remaining eppys of Angel arrived in the post from the darling furry one and his wizard. They all had pictures on them of a clip of the eppy. Episode 22 had Buffy looking out-of-this-world-happy riding a radio flyer red wagon down a hill in the sunshine. Now what do you make of that? Do you think it could possibly mean that I want Angel and Buffy to end up together, human, living a happy life, in the sunshine....hmmm, my dreams are not subtle. I also dreamed about loads of expensive chocolate. So all in all, an A++++ night for dreams.

I had loads of stuff to say about the latest eppys but I am so 'xhausted by the effort of posting this blammin post that I will leave it for now.

Belated *waves* and {{hugs}} to tarasapp, rack, gothicwoman, evilgoddesfire, LOTD, almond, emilyboo, dogtrot, mazzy , corsa and teddy

Lionhunter gazes confusedly round the room. She spots cookie crumbs, bits of lei and a very old gnu bone. Feeling apprehensive, she climbs the stairs to the balcony and spots....a heifer, a panther and a teddy all curled up together on a big cushy sofa. This place gets wierder every day! Lionhunter leaves a big bag of Ruffles and some clam dip on the side (thats her favorites) and some Doritos and salsa for the non-clam types. Exit stage left.

Ok, I saw it. Hmm, what to say about it? (wait, didn't I say something?).

I liked it; I did. I believe I said that it felt like the first half of a movie and when it was over, I wanted to see more...

spoilerish.. I thought Jaye and Eric had a really nice chemistry together. I wasn't quite sure what was going on with his wife and the bellboy though.

I enjoyed the plastic lion's singing to annoy her. Kinda reminded me of Patrick Swayze in Ghost "Henry the 8th I am, I am..."

Um, erm, hey, the girl who plays her mother played the adult Christina Crawford in "Mommie Dearest"

So she's just gonna help these people, no questions asked? And that's gonna be it? The comparisons to JOA are obvious, yet it will be different (I hope). Seems fun and quirky. I'm on board for next eppy.

Hey guys, still some MAJOR campaigning going on at the Saving Angel site (see banner above). These are critical weeks when the fate of the show is being decided, so if there's anything you can do to help, it would be appreciated! I think some of the more postive campaigns are the ones for donating blood and to the food banks. Check out the links on the front page of the site.

JPL our fav hobbit! T'app This is for you then!

I'm pretty happy with my GN'R collection. I've got Appetite, Lies and Use Your Illusion I & II. Don't need much more than that. And while I'm not as "lucky" as T'app to have seen them "break up" on stage, I did get to see them at Giants Stadium (in NJ) playing
with Metallica and Axl got "irked" when someone threw a lighter at him. Aw, those good ole days! That was a VERY cool concert.

Rack That's cool that you don't put them all up at once. Of course that thumbnail for Faith was VERY eye-poppingly intentional. It's all about the visual. I'm no fool.

Yeah, I wouldn't peg you for the rom-com genre anyhow.

Here's the guy to look for if you're gonna give a look to American Idol - and yes I did know it was the brits that were enriching us culturally with this show affectionately known as the pen salesman. People say he looks like a hobbit - well it's just another reason I like him.

corsa hey! {{hug}} for you - a big one too. Have the best time and if you're on my end and want to give me a call again (I saved your message from last time!) I'm a silly girl I know - please do *s*

almond you make me laugh so much. So, how did your weekend go? Those were very important activities you listed especially the one about buying cheese. Such a thing is serious business and cannot be left to just anyone - right emily?

HEY!! Didn't any of you watch Wonderfalls? Start talkin'!

Speaking of watching stuff anyone watch the movie Nick Brenden was in last night? I watched the last hour - it was ok. It was nice to see Nick though.

That goat is mightily weird. You’d have thought that it would have snagged the T-shirt on its horns…ummm.

By the way, I got an email from LionHunter, unfortunately the poor girl is having trouble posting due to the nasty voy demon. But she sends her love to you all.

Almond: With regards to my choice of Aerosmith’s “Angel” as track of the week, I almost went for the Hendrix song of the same name – but something made me plump for the ’smiths instead. Can’t imagine what the other choice of Angel related songs there would be…don’t think there’s one called “Hell salty goodness” is there? I actually made a start on the “Warriors Apprentice” last year but got side tracked so I started again. As an incentive to make sure that I finish it, I brought the tarasApprentice approved “His dark materials” trilogy recently. So I can’t start them until I’ve finished this. Thanks for the info on the eonline poll results. Such a show of support for Angel would be hard for anyone to ignore I would have thought. Let’s hope that it does some good.

Mazzy: Sorry, I guess that I really should have emailed you back to let you know that the cards were received. Just that I was a bit pushed for time and thought that a public thank you would kill two birds with one stone. As I have no talent I think that everyone is wonderfully talented. I liked all the cards and the other six, including the Fith, will be used at some point. I don’t know if the thumbnail for it occurred by design or accident, but teddy’s eyes almost popped out when he saw it…I worry about him sometimes.
I checked out what was on the GN’R greatest hits and I don’t think that there is anything on there that would make you buy it particularly. It’s okay for someone looking to get into GN’R, but for a true fan I’d recommend the “Live era 1987 – 1993” double album as being a better “best of” album to invest your money in.
I don’t think I saw “When Harry met Sally” the movie, or if I did I instantly forgot it. But then rom-com’s aren’t really my kind of film. Anyway, I doubt if they changed things a great deal for the play. I think I said it felt like watching a film minus the “film” part. If only they did a play based on the greatest film ever made…Kiss mets the phantom of the park.

EmilyBoo: We have something here which some of the other posters refer to as “The Voy demon”. It often tricks people into thinking that their post hasn’t gone through when in fact it has. Best thing to do if you get an error message when you post is to open another window and check to see if it actually posted okay.

tarasApprentice: American Idol actually started life over here as something called Pop Idol. It’s nice to see that Britain is still contributing to the world of culture (was that too much sarcasm?). I don’t watch the it myself, something that spawned the Cheeky Girls is to be avoided. They do show American Idol over here, so I might check it out to see what the fuss is about.
Have fun at the pilot shoot ~ tell Alyson she won’t escape next time!!!

I hope “Fee Fi fo Fum” isn’t anything rude…Oh well

Take care all!!

I'm also taking the fine art of avoidance to a new level. Did you ever have one of those days when you just know that no matter what you do, it's going to turn out to be wrong?
So here's my list of Things I Plan On Doing Today To Avoid Doing What I Should REALLY Be Doing:

1. Go to the grocery store with my husband to pick out cheese. We need cheese, and clearly this is something he can't do by himself.

2. Go to the mall with my daughter to pick out jewelry to match her prom dress. However, since her last mention of prom included the statement "I'm not going this year", she won't know why we're looking at jewelry. She may change her mind, and then where would she be? Jewelryless - that's where.

3. Watch "Wonderfalls" with hubby and daughter. Obviously, I need to see them enjoying this show. It will promote family togetherness. That's very important.

4. Organize my sock drawer. Hey, I hide things in there. There could be money. Which would pay for the jewelry my daughter doesn't want for the dance she isn't going to.

I just know if I plan this right, these things will take all day, thus leaving me no time to do the thing I really should be doing that wild horses will not force me to do. So there.

Dogtrot: Thanks for the suggestion. *s*
5. Buy Maalox.

Mazzy: I've missed you. *s*
I can't call my WB affiliate because they're in Chicago. That would be long-distance. We don't do long-distance at our house. Ever. It's a thing. But thanks for the suggestion. *s*
How would you feel if Seth did a guest spot on "Angel" and * he hooked up with Nina? I can't really see her with Angel (she's too normal......other than the werewolf thing). I think they'd make a cute couple. Then we could have an episode where Willow visits the gang, finds out about Oz and Nina, and has a reaction to the news. What sort of reaction? I have no idea - I'm just sort of babbling here. *g* *

Jessica: Hi! Welcome!
Yes, "Buffy" rocks! So who's your favorite character? Season? Episode?

EmilyBoo: *waves back and helps herself to a piece of cheese*
Thanks! *s*

LotD: I'm having a great weekend! See my list. *eg* How's yours?

Almond looks down at her arm and sees a fork sticking out of it. Hmm...guess I'm done.

tarasapprentice, that's good news you posted about Angel! Hope it comes true. *crosses fingers* Now that I know our efforts may make a difference, I will send a few more postcards. And make myself a saving Angel tshirt! Where do you get the transfer paper needed to print the iron-on though?
And yes, she is driving everyone crazy about Jon Peter Lewis. :-) I see the appeal though. I loved his performance this week, and I'm definitely glad he made it to the final 12, and that's not only for tarasapprentice's sake.

I only have time to fly through here today but I have to say Hi and welcome to jessica. And yeah, Buffy is the greatest *s*

Mazzy! you have no idea!
It's ALL about the pen!!!

I have been making everyone around me insane going on and on and on about JPL - just ask Emilyboo! or apprenticetotarasapprentice - I had never watched American Idol before because I cannot stand the awful singers on there that all sound exactly the same but watcher and I had decided we'd watch the audition specials because let's face it they're totally hysterical and he wanted to especially watch the Hawaii auditions. When I saw JPL that was it - I've got a mild obsession - the guy not only has a great voice and personality but he's got the most unique, original and gorgeous voice to boot. The only reason I have kept watching the show was because of him and I'm so happy he made it to the final 12.

More later...

Hey guys, I've been lurking but haven't made time to post (bad Mazzy) but I've been reading everything!

Rack glad you got (and liked) the postcards. I wasn't sure you got them all, because I figured you'd spam me, but a public thank you here is a great acknowledgment (wait did you say I was wonderfully talented???)

I also really enjoyed your review of Harry Met Sally. I'm quite curious about it. I know the movie like the back of my hand. It didn't sound like they changed TOO much. Sorry you missed seeing Aly

T'app *smile* I saw 50 First Dates last week, having NO IDEA that Sean was in it. Such a bonus! He plays a bit of a loser, but he's just so cute. I just wanna hug him. Thought of you of course (and of course I stared!)

Emily Boo I never got a chance to say hello, so Hello!

dogtrot I enjoyed seeing your pictures from W & H revue. Love the blue beard! LOL

Almond I, of course, totally fantasized about Seth and Aly's characters from That 70's Show meeting up. When I first heard Aly was gonna be on it, my wheels began turning.

Also, you can call your local WB affiliate during the time slot when Angel airs and tell them that you HAD to switch to another network (at that time) becasue Angel wasn't on. I did this last Wed night and it was immensley satisfying. I hope they get flooded!

I have some things to say about recent episodes but will have to save that for next time. I'm not sure I'm loving it right now.

BTW, T'app Did you mean to say Fred and WEASLY? Do you not like him or was that a serious typo.

I watched "Wonderfalls" tonight and really enjoyed it. Found myself wanting to see more RIGHT away! It felt like a movie, almost and one I only got to see half of. I hope I get to see more of it (Friday nights are a bad TV night!) They should move it to Tuesdays at 8 'cause I don't have a regular show in that time slot anymore *snif*

*crossing fingers* for Angel's renewal and feeling optimistic, as if our efforts are making a difference.

Track of the Week?

Hillary Duff "Coming Clean"

It's not even that I particuarly am a fan of Hillary Duff's (though i don't dislike her), but this song has been in my head the most today and this week, just 'cause I've seen the video quite a few times. I'm not sure if I think she's a good singer or it's just that she has a unique voice.

Let's go back
Back to the beginning
Back to when the earth, the sun, the stars all aligned

'Cause perfect didn't feel so perfect
Trying to fit a square into a circle
Was no lie
I defy

[CHORUS:]
Let the rain fall down
And wake my dreams
Let it wash away
My sanity
'Cause I wanna feel the thunder
I wanna scream
Let the rain fall down
I'm comimg clean, I'm coming clean

I'm shedding
Shedding every color
Trying to find a pigment of truth
Beneath my skin

'Cause different
Doesn't feel so different
And going out is better
Then always staying in
Feel the wind

[CHORUS]

I'm coming clean
Let the rain fall
Let the rain fall
I'm coming clean

[CHORUS]

Let's go back
Back to the beginning

Rack BTW, I"m a big GN'R fan too, but after Use Your Illusion 1 & 2, it all went downhill, but how great is that collection?

I have another track of the week (who says I can't have two?) because I'm really hooked on American Idol this year and this week, my new fave Jon Peter Lewis pulled a crazy, fun performance of Elvis' "Little Less Conversation" that won the hearts of America and catapulted him into the top 12. He was just so much fun to watch, so posting lyrics from that too and thinking of how cute JPL was when he was dancing to it. I love a guy with some personality.

A little less conversation, a little more action please
All this aggravation ain’t satisfactioning me
A little more bite and a little less bark
A little less fight and a little more spark
Close your mouth and open up your heart and baby satisfy me
Satisfy me baby

Baby close your eyes and listen to the music
Drifting through a summer breeze
It’s a groovy night and I can show you how to use it
Come along with me and put your mind at ease

A little less conversation, a little more action please
All this aggravation ain’t satisfactioning me
A little more bite and a little less bark
A little less fight and a little more spark
Close your mouth and open up your heart and baby satisfy me
Satisfy me baby

Come on baby I’m tired of talking
Grab your coat and let’s start walking
Come on, come on
Come on, come on
Come on, come on
Don’t procrastinate, don’t articulate
Girl it’s getting late, gettin’ upset waitin’ around

A little less conversation, a little more action please
All this aggravation ain’t satisfactioning me
A little more bite and a little less bark
A little less fight and a little more spark
Close your mouth and open up your heart and baby satisfy me
Satisfy me baby

So on my way out, I just want to send some enthusiastic waves to Gothic Woman, Lionhunter, Fire, LOTD and all you other crazy magic boxers...

Til next time

Loved Wonderfalls. I laughed out loud a number of times. I taped it too just in case Fox behaves in it's usual insane troll-like manner.

I did hear there was going to be a new Tru. I'm just hoping that Fox doesn't decide to move Tru to 8 on Friday. I like things just they way they are now on Friday. Which is probably a sure sign of impending doom.

I'm sorry top hear that your dad's arrangements may be hung up again. Especially after he seems to be looking forward to his new situation. Maybe things will work out after all. Buy yourself some Maalox.

Dogtrot: So, did you enjoy our Fabulous Friday? I’m really glad I’d set up to tape JoA and "Wonderfalls", even if you didn’t need it. My phone rang about half way through "Wonderfalls", and I didn’t get off until the end. So I guess trying to do a good deed has its own rewards. And you’re welcome. *s* Btw, did you catch the preview for "Tru Calling"? We get a new one next week. She’s posing as a beauty contestant according to TV Guide. (cc Rack)
Considering my Dad is 85 and has had 3 strokes (among other things), he’s been lucky to stay in his own home as long as he has. I think the place he’s chosen is very nice, and he’ll like it once he gets used to it. I just wish there were more good places out there. The waiting lists wouldn’t be so long. We told my middle brother (that’s doing the money again – long story) that Dad’s picked a home on Thursday. Now things are becoming very...difficult...because of the way he wants to handle the transition. I can just feel my baby ulcer waiting to be born.

Gothic: I thought Dogmeat was sending episodes of "Buffy" to Corsa last year, who was sharing them with FT and you – I guess I just assumed it was still going on. If you’ve seen “Harm’s Way”, you’re 7 eppys behind us. There are only 6 more to go. You should take Rack up on his offer. Then we would be almost even by the time us USAers start getting episodes again. *s* There have been some really good ones recently!
So what have you been doing lately? (Besides sneezing on body parts, that is! *g*)

LotD: Yeah, I think that Mukes guy has the voting rigged! lol No way is his site better than yours! *g*
You weren’t even in here on Tuesday, were you? I think you should do what tarasApprentice said and contact Admin to find out what that email was all about.
Don’t you just love * all things wee and felt? * *eg*

Fire: Oooh, goody! A barbecue! *eg* Almond puts on her kevlar bodysuit with the stylish matching hood.

Rack: (Casting spoiler for Tru Calling) * Jason Priestly is joining the cast as a regular. Do you think that will increase the ratings and save the show? I think it’s funny that it’s on the list of might-be-cancelleds before they even see how this goes. The show really has gotten better, I think.*
Too tired to do Angel talk tonight – sorry!

tarasApprentice: I meant to tell you this earlier – you know those postcards I mentioned I was sending? Well, some of them had a picture of a big piece of cheese with a little mouse peeking out of the holes. *g*

That’s it for me. ‘Night all!

Stomach has food in it, vcr has tape in it, and Magic Box has Almond in it!
*sound of crickets chirping*
I guess it could be worse – that darn goat could be here munching on my jacket. *g*

Rack: I’m going to devote a separate post to your spoilered “Angel” comments. Not because I have anything profound or intelligent to say, but simply because it will give me something to do after “Wonderfalls” is over. *g*
I don’t know if you heard this or not, but one of the efforts the fans were making to bring Angel’s cancellation to the media’s attention was to vote for a different Angel-related song each day in an MTV viewer’s choice poll. Your Track of the Week was one of the chosen songs. *g*
Speaking of “Warrior’s Apprentice” read read read, I was floating through the Baen site awhile back and saw a reference to a story in that series I hadn’t read yet. Imagine my surprise. Imagine my panic when I couldn’t find it anywhere! After joining two different sci-fi/fantasy boards just to track down this elusive story to no avail, it finally occurred to me to google it. Found it in a series of short stories under a different author’s name. *sheepish grin*
Thanks for doing the quiz! We need all the pictures of Spike we can get around here! *eg* Almond puts a basket of juicy strawberries in Rack’s mini-fridge.

tarasApprentice: Wow, great news about the Alyson Hannigan pilot and the tickets to go see it! You know, if you’re looking for company, I’ll bet you could twist Dogtrot’s arm and he’d go with you. He lives close by. (There. I’ve done my good deed for the day. *g*)
I do check the SavingAngel site every couple of days to see what’s going on campaign-wise. I send postcards, but some of the other ideas aren’t practical for me. (Mostly lack of funds and time.) I guess I’m a bad fan. Besides, jumping on the frog is fun! *eg*
I really was excited to see Amber on “Cold Case”! Believe it or not, I think that’s the only thing other than BtVS that I’ve seen her on. I know she’s done some films, but I’ve never happened across them. (I still want to see the one she did with James Marsters!)
Btw, Word doesn't like it when I don't capitalize your name. Spelling fascists! *g*

Well, this took much longer than expected. I’ll have to finish after the programs are over.

Hi Dogtrot! Yes, Fridays are sure looking up! *s*

Hi everyone!!

Well tarasApprentice’s news post has certainly brighten up my otherwise dismal day. I’d cross my fingers but it makes eating strawberries more difficult if I do that. But it’s refreshing to think that some executives actually listen to the fans.

Almond: I don’t know if voting in the poll would do any good but I guess that it wouldn’t do any harm. After reading tarasApp’s post if, Angel does win the poll it might add some clout to the cause to get the show renewed for another season. “Tru Calling” was also listed in the poll, but to be honest I was a little disappointed with the series. Besides, Tru is no match for Fith.
Don’t think I’ll bother with the “Best of Gn’R”. I’ve got “Appetite” and the two “Use your Illusion” albums. I didn’t care much for them after that, I think Axl lost the plot somewhere when he fired Slash.
Btw I made a start on “The Warriors Apprentice” again, I’ll let you know what I think when I’m about half way through.

I also had a go at the series two quiz at scored…..

Spike

I’ve always said series two was the best..the only way it could have been better was if Fith was in it. And YES, of course I want a prize you peroxide half-wit!!!

Gothic: Hope that the course is going well. I’ve got up to the latest Angel episode (epi 16 “Shells”) on VCD that I can send you copies of if you want, just drop me an email with where to send them.

*Waves* to EmilyBoo

Now the part that you’ve all been waiting for Rack’s Track of the week

In view of some possible good news it’s Angel By Aerosmith

Not really my favourite track of their comeback album Permanent Vacation (I prefer Dude (looks like a lady)), but this slushy rock ballad does contain the word Angel. And who knows, maybe the poor unfortunate in tarasApp’s choice went on to become one.

Okay, I’m off to play “The Fight Song” by Marilyn Manson, which I’ve had stuck in my head for the past week…scary.

Take care all!!!!

I think I will go with a Kate Bush song (DSOAA would have been proud) called "Watching You Without Me" from her Hounds Of Love cd/album/whatever you call them now...the song is lovely but the best part of it is the subject matter - she sings it as someone who has just died, (I think she fell through the ice while skating), and is watching her love at home who has been waiting for her and wondering where she is and why she is so late and she cannot let him know.

Blessings on everyone's day.

Morning, people! {{Hugs}} to all!

Again, no time to do responses. Girl-child has early release for spring break today, so we need to be all done with our "Friday stuff" earlier than usual, since hubby is picking her up from school. We're out of here in half an hour, and I haven't even done my grocery list yet. Wah!
I'll be back later, I promise! I just wanted to drop off my Track of the Week. I've made the mistake of watching the news and following local politics this week, and this song just kind of springs to mind:

Imagine

Imagine there's no heaven,
It's easy if you try,
No hell below us,
Above us only sky,
Imagine all the people
living for today...

Imagine there's no countries,
It isn't hard to do,
Nothing to kill or die for,
No religion too,
Imagine all the people
living life in peace...

Imagine no possesions,
I wonder if you can,
No need for greed or hunger,
A brotherhood of man,
Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world...

You may say I'm a dreamer,
but I'm not the only one,
I hope some day you'll join us,
And the world will live as one.

Hey all!

Sorry I haven't been around lately. Our local WB station has moved Angel to late nights because of basketball. I got behind on watching the tape and I didn't want to fight the urge to read spoilers.

I haven't yet caught up, but the reason I post is that I received an email that disturbed me. It was from The Magic Box and it said my IP address was guilty of posting something on 3/9 that had to be removed. :(

Since I have not been here in a bit, I wanted to know a)who has my IP address? and b) what was posted? Can an IP address be stolen, or has somebody been tapping into my computer and my files? Is anyone in the know about such things?

Oh...and about Angel:*Smile Time was great! Seeing a puppet Angel brawl with Spike was the highlight of my month! Oh and Joss...Grrrr...weep...Fred???? That was my favorite episode of Angel...EVER. The depth of the emotion...the look on Loren's face when Fred sang...the tears in Wesley's eyes...

I'm starting to cry even now.

I hope the rumors are true and our campaigns are working.
*

I posted a Saving Angel link on my site. I hope it helps. And I hope someone can shed some light on what is going on with my IP.

See you all soon!

But first we interrupt this important news post to give a hug to gothicwoman and Emily

Ok, now onto the stufffff...
from Slayage.com

Is Angel Back from the Dead Again?
And can the fans really help make the decision?

March 08, 2004 - Is Angel showing more signs of life? Possibly, according to sources close to the WB Network and the series producers.

According to an anonymous source posting on the WB bulletin board that has been confirmed in the past, the network is still talking with FOX and Mutant Enemy about another season.

"Hi all. Just wanted to update you guys. Just when I thought all was dead, I received a ray of hope," the poster wrote on the WB's Angel message board. "There are some additional meetings going on this week with the [Powers That Be]. I cannot elaborate with who but only tell you that it is someone we are all familiar with."

While the news was encouraging to the fans, the insider was quick to add a note of caution. "Don't get all excited yet. These are only talks. However, it appears that the several campaigns going on just can't be ignored.

"Even though this is not a shining light, there just might be a light at the end of the tunnel. This might not turn out to be anything. However, the fact that additional meetings are occurring means that at least somebody is listening."

Other posts have suggested that the WB is going to be taking a close look at the ratings for upcoming episodes, including the repeats. One complaint from the network is that the repeats tend to suffer in the ratings and an increase may make it easier for the network to reverse their decision.

Almost in response to the post, another source reported that Sky One, the satellite network owned by Rupert Murdoch (who also owns Fox, producers of Angel and Buffy, among others) has been told that negotiations for a sixth season of the vampire drama are underway and that there will be a new season available. Sky One broadcasts both Angel and Buffy in the UK.

-FOX / The WB

The WB pulling a series back from the dead is not without precedence. The series Jack & Jill and Felicity were both given short season commitments after having been initially cancelled by the network. Even Angel has been on the brink of cancellation only to have a 13-episode pickup from the network. The initial ratings from the first of those 13 episodes led to the network picking up 9 more episodes to finish out the 5th season.

dogtrot, If your local station has a website, you should check it to see if it says when they will be airing the pre-empted Joan. A new episode is scheduled to air this Friday, so hopefully your station will air it sometime, even if it's in the middle of the night. Detroit's UPN station was famous for pre-empting Buffy for sports... perhaps five episodes were ever aired at the correct time. The station's website had a "programming changes" page, and it would always tell you when the missed episode would air. It was usually sometime on the weekend.

I just checked my TV guide, and Friday there is no Joan, but rather the NCAA basketball tourney. Does this mean that Joan will be on at another time, or that there is no Joan this week?

My daughter started doing her hair in wild colors in High School. And she's never gotten over this "faze" in her life...I think it's permanent. Or at least until she has abused her follicles so badly the hair just gives up and refuses to grow anymore.

It's our good fortune, I'm thinking, that Joan comes on at 8 and WonderFalls at nine! (or so I've heard) I think it's going to be a long time until we get a new Angel. I don't know when we get a new Tru.

I hope your dad get's into the place he wants. It must be tough when you get to that point in your life. So much for the "Golden Years" I guess.

Fist off, the news. I am sure many of you know this but:

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - "American Pie" flautist Alyson Hannigan has committed to star in the pilot for NBC's untitled comedy about an estranged brother and sister.

Hannigan had been eyeing the project -- which revolves around the relationship between a brother and his sister who haven't spoken in 18 months -- and had met with its producers when it was still in development. Talks accelerated after the pilot was picked up this month, leading to the pact with Hannigan, who has a talent deal with NBC.

I actually have tickets to the filming of the pilot. I wish some of you lived closer so you could come too!

almond yeah. No new Angel for five weeks. If you look at the top of our page you'll find a link to savingangel.com and they have some ideas and suggestions for things we can do to help during that five week period.

It's ok I haven't seen those Sean Astin projects either! But will when they come to dvd...

It was so wonderful to see Amber Benson on Cold Case. I agree with everything you said Almond and it's funny the thing about the photographs was one of the very first things I thought. I'd love to have any of them but that one especilly. The girl made me cry *sniff*

rack heartfelt condolances regarding Juventus' loss and a strawberry milkshake for you - but I don't think it will be much consolation :( . I think Teddy did a cameo in Smile Time... {{hug}} *s*

Responses:

tarasApprentice: I don’t get Showtime so I haven’t seen “Jeremiah”, nor have I seen “50 First Dates” since hubby and I rarely go to the theatre to see a movie. I think the last one we saw there was the latest “Star Wars” epic. (You just have to see those on the wide screen at least once. *g*)
If you come across a transcript of Joss on “Talk of the Nation”, I would really appreciate a link.

Most Magnificent Goddess of Fire: I’m sorry you’ve been having such a bad month, though I’m glad to see cookies help make it better. Hang in there!

Almond drags a freshly washed heifer in from the back room, which is wearing a lei composed entirely of chocolate chip cookies. Eyeing the panther, she does a quick spell to prevent mayhem and maiming. She also leaves a few cookies on the counter for a certain Teddy Bear. (While some might find a confrontation between a panther, a heifer, and a teddy bear entertaining, she is not one of them.)

Rack’s Teddy Bear: I voted in the poll (as I do every time I see a link to it), but I do wonder if it will do any good. Didn’t UPN say they would not be picking up “Angel”? Do you know if any other networks have shown interest?
Guns n’ Roses has a “best of” album coming out? That sounds like it would be worth owning. Is Rack planning on buying it?
Those t-shirts have become quite an issue here. Many schools are putting them on their “banned clothing” lists, since they feel they are insulting to the male students and undermine their self-esteem. I can agree with that, but they are also banning the “Boys Have Cooties” t-shirts as well, and I think that may be carrying it a little far. After all, that’s an old joke – “girl cooties” and “boy cooties”. (Does anyone here watch “Dexter’s Lab?)

Mazzy: I’d like to add my thanks to the rest for the beautiful cards you made! (Now I’ll have to think of an excuse to send some to people!)
You know, the other day I thought of something I wanted to tell you so bad I almost popped into the Barge to leave you a message, but I didn’t have time. Now for the life of me I just can’t remember what it was!

Dogtrot: Thanks, I did see that list of links awhile ago, and I managed to peek at a lot of them. I really like to see pictures taken by people I know, though, even if the quality isn’t as good. I like to see my friends having fun! *s*
Things in my neck o’, huh? Hmm.....well, Dad seems to have found a nursing home he’s not entirely unhappy with. If my brother gets the paper work filled out, he should be on the waiting list by the end of the week. They say it may be 6 months to a year before he gets in.
Did I tell you I liked your daughter’s pink hair? Girl-child wanted to put pink streaks in her hair last fall, and believe it or not I was going to let her, but she changed her mind. Too many of her friends had done it. She’s back to wheedling me for new ear piercings. Pester, pester, pester...*g*

Don’t have too much else to say right now. I may lurk awhile just to scare the crap out of anyone who pops in. I still want to post some thoughts on “Hole” and “Shells”, but I don’t feel ambitious enough right now.

Hi everyone!!

Yesterday was a bad day for us Juventus fans as we had to endure them getting knocked out of the European Champion league. Even a couple of glasses of milkshake (strawberry flavour of course) couldn’t help easy the pain.

Anyway, much later than planned is a round up of “Smile Time”, “A Hole in the world” and “Shells” in Spoiler **
Demon puppets..I’m pretty sure that teddy might well be one, but that’s another matter. Aside form the welcome comic touches that this episode brought I was starting to wonder if they were planning any major changes to the groups dynamic. The reason I say this is the appearance of Nina and a possible romance between her and Angel. The other reason was Gunn and his reaction to the loss or rather fading ability as a corporate lawyer. His desire to regain this ability was ripe for exploitation and that’s exactly what happened. Another reason why I thought that Nina might become a more regular member is that the series is short on female cast members. Fred is the only regular, Harmony and Eve are recurring characters and that’s about it.
“A hole in the world” was a bit of strange episode to me and I’m still not quite sure what to make of it. It appears that being Angel’s friend increased your chances of demonic possession, first Cordelia now Fred. Again, Angel has to make the choice of saving a friend or killing thousands of people to save them. This made me think, okay thousands will die, but if Illyria succeeded how many would die then? Again going back to the change in the group dynamic – would Fred be this seasons Big Bad. But what of Gunn and Wesley? Gunn to turn evil and what’s with Wesley shooting that guy (albeit in the leg) who interrupted his research. Wes has become a little trigger happy of late, is he losing it? By the way, have the Cotswolds changed since I was there or were they really in a park in Los Angeles.
“Shells” - I felt a little sorry for Gunn, the realisation that he was at least partly to blame for what happened to Fred was tough for him to deal with but I don’t think that he did himself any favours by not telling the rest of the gang. I’m sure Wesley is losing it, first he stabs Gunn then he shoots Knox, is he getting a taste for it wonder? Did you notice that Illyira didn’t kill or seriously injure anyone (other then Fred I suppose), guess that the scriptwriters felt that it will be easier for the character to be accepted into the fold that way. Okay, so if Nina becomes a regular we would have, the main character, a souled vampire side kick, a werewolf, a reformed demon and a former associate in hospital with a stab wound. Sounds familiar, but where have I seen that before
*** end of mindless babble

{{{Hugs}}} to all, especially anyone having a bad day.

Take care all!!!

Hey everyone.

Well, I watched Amber on “Cold Case” Sunday. I was a little disappointed that she didn’t have more lines, though the amount of actual screen time she had was good. Her expressive (and impressive) display of emotion in her final scene really proved what an outstanding actress she is. There was an absolutely beautiful photograph of her (with the wind blowing her hair across her face) that was used on the show I would love to own – suitably autographed, of course.

It seems to be my week for catching BtVS alumni on television, because I was lucky enough to see the reruns of the two “That 70s Show” episodes which guest starred Alyson Hannigan on Monday. She was fantastic. Her character was nothing like our beloved Willow, yet it retained something essentially “Willow-like” in its bubbling enthusiasm and all around cute-as-a-button presence. You know, it seems quite a few “Buffy” regulars are doing “That 70s Show”, and it made me think: wouldn’t it be fun if we could see an episode where Aly’s character has a scene or two interacting with Seth’s character? It might give a degree of closure to all those fans who were hoping to see a Willow/Oz reunion before “Buffy’s” series finale. Just a thought...

No new “Angel” for what – five weeks? I think it’s a ploy on the WB’s part to save themselves embarrassment. How would it look if the ratings on a show they cancelled sky-rocketed due to fan response? Putting “Smallville” reruns there prevented that, but I for one won’t be watching them. I plan to spend the hour raving and jumping up and down on a stuffed frog girl-child donated to the cause. Not only will it be cathartic, but I hear it’s great for the cardiovascular system. *eg*

No new “Tru Calling” this week, either. Thank the PTB “Joan of Arcadia” is new, and we have “Wonderfalls” to look forward to on Friday!

Hi everyone!!! As you can probably guess His warlockyness is other wise engaged so once again your favourite teddy bear has to fill in for him. Maybe I should ask for an increase in my cookie allowance…anyway to help save Angel you can vote in a poll that e-online are running. There are a number of shows that face the axe and Kirstin will champion the winner. If Angel wins this will mean that she will help support a pitch to another network (i.e. UPN) to see if they will pick up the show. Don’t forget it’s votes that win, so voting more than once isn’t cheating, it’s winning and that’s all that matter (yep, Rack made me say that).

Vote to save Angel

Okay later than usual but there is no escaping…..Racks Track of the Week

As they have a “best of “ album to out on Monday over here, Rack has chosen..

Nightrain by Guns n’ Roses

Taken from 1987’s colossal multimillion selling debut album (unless you count “live like a suicide” as their debut) this single didn’t far so well as some of the other tracks off the album “Appetite for Destruction”. It does however remain a favourite of Mr Warlocks probably invoking memories of his student days. This was Gn’R’s homage to a brand of cheap liquor that they would quaff before, during and after recording sessions as well as in their spare time. The song appeals to a certain dark arts users sense of nihilism, but it’s also a pretty decent rock song from the once self styled “most dangerous band in the world” who are currently residing in the “where are they now?” category..but, ahhhh those were the days…

Expect a review of “Smile Time”, “A hole in the world” and “Shells” tomorrow”

Almond: Always a pleasure to see you here, glad that you found Rack’s review of “WHMS” interesting. He actually left loads of stuff out, like accidentally taking a picture of some French woman’s foot when he turned a round to answer her question of “Who are you waiting for?” – Oh how me and Dark Magician laughed at that. Regency romance novels? Your secret is safe with me…Rack’s mother is a prolific reader of romance novels, which came as a surprise to me..I didn’t know that he had a mother. Concerning the “I’ll have what she’s having line”, it was only a small ensemble so they had to give it to someone, and the young man was the one. Speaking of T-shirts, I heard that in the states some shops have stopped carrying T-shirts with the legend “Boy’s smell, throw rocks at them” or something along those lines. DM and I were thinking of suggesting something similar to the company that makes them. So expect to see T-shirts with “Warlock’s smell, throw wooden fish at them” in the shops soon.

Dogtrot: Regarding the links to the photos, your more than welcome. At least you didn’t take any pictures of anybodies feet.

tarasApprentice: Oooo a classical complication would be most welcome. At least it would save DM and myself from having to listen the endless Lawnmower Deth tracks, which Rack considers “classical music”. We get “Cold Case” over here on a satellite channel, so Rack’s going to keep and eye out for the AB episode when it gets over this side of the pond.

Evil Goodness Fiery One: I don’t know what’s causing your bad day, but I hope things improve for you. Have a cookie, that always works for me.

I am unopinioned on the fact that Angel was cancelled, I actually don't care, that part of me is void of feeling, except the annoyances that other people create wondering out loud what they are going to do with their time.

Hello everyone! Hope you’re all doing well. I feel like I’ve been gone a really long time, though I know it’s only been about a week. Going to take a scroll and see what’s been happening, so prepare for some random babble...

...Really nice account of Rack’s trip to London to see “When Harry Met Sally”. Thank you for including the little details that made the day come alive for us. I’ve actually heard of John Nash – I spent an unfortunate period in my youth reading Regency romance novels. (That’s a secret, btw. So don’t tell anyone! *g*) I, too, have never seen the movie, but of course I’ve seen the famous restaurant scene. I think you’re right – that particular line you mentioned would sound much better coming from an older female. I wonder what made them change it? Go ahead and wear the t-shirt. Women can’t resist that sort of challenge. *eg*......Hmmm, Dogtrot has pictures. I want to see pictures! (said in my best “whiny voice” that hasn’t worked since I was...wait a minute...maybe that never worked)......Aside to Rack’s Teddy Bear: I always tell girl-child if she had been a boy, I would have named her Amadeus. She says at least it’s a real name, unlike the one I gave her. (She won’t believe I really found it in a baby name book, since she’s never seen it anywhere.)......I see we have a new poster. Hello and welcome Mango! I think most of us are looking forward to “Wonderfalls”. Not long to wait – next Friday, isn’t it? I’m also a big fan of “Joan of Arcadia”. (That’s what you meant by JOA, right?) When “Angel” becomes dust in the wind, it will probably become my favorite show......Fire’s been having hearing problems. Well, at least you do hear things – I live in a void......Hey! Pictures! Cool. Thanks for sharing, Dogtrot. I really like your blue beard, btw. *g* (You do know you inadvertently reinforced my tendency to whine, don’t you? You may be sorry about that in future.)......Yay! The panther’s back! Minor “Smile Time” talk follows (cc Lionhunter): * It’s funny how often Joss starts a trend. He does a show about vampires – soon even the soaps have vampires. He has an episode with Muppets – now “West Wing” has invaded the Muppetverse. Did anyone see that, btw? * ......Gothicwoman was here! It’s so good to see you! I’ve been meaning to email you, but emails and I are not on friendly terms just now. Is someone (Dogmeat?) still sending FT and you the current Whedonverse episodes? If you can’t babble about “Angel”, babble about anything. We like babble. (We do like babble, right? ‘Cause otherwise I have a post to delete! *g*)......Lionhunter envys our newish car. Funny thing about that. Guess what hubby’s doing as we speak? Fixing the old car! We decided to give it to oldest-daughter. How ironic. (‘Cause, you know, we got the new one so he wouldn’t have to do that anymore.) How’s the new job?……tarasApprentice: I thought of you the other day. I watched the episode of “Vegas” guest-starring your favorite Hobbit. He wasn’t very wise in this, though – Sam or other. *g* I did like it, however......Congratulations to Kung Fu on a job well done! Regarding your question – I think if you’re acting and people don’t like you, some blame can be placed on the character (at least in your own mind). When you’re giving a presentation, you succeed or fail entirely on your own merits. (Just picture them in their underwear.....having a “Friends” moment now. Hee!)......Oh, I see tarasApprentice said pretty much the same thing. So I’m redundant. That’s not new......Note to self – must get myself to a nunnery Fire’s lj to see what her happy dream was......Hmmm, Amber on “Cold Case” – must watch. I miss her!......Pretty jewelry! I like jewelry. I just usually can’t be bothered to remember to put some on as I run out the door (another note to self – check to see if ear piercings have grown shut)......Random "hello" to LdyKnight and LotD, 'cause I haven't seen them for awhile......Random plea to Gabriella to come back and visit us, 'cause I haven't heard from her in a very long while. (Hope you're ok!)...... Well, I guess that’s about it. Do I want to babble about anything else? I may have some questions/thoughts about “Angel” later, but I want to rewatch “Shells” first, so......Nope!

kung fu cowboy I'm really glad it went so well! In answer to your query I think perhaps people get more nervous simply doing the public speaking over acting because when it is public speaking it is solely them being judged. When you're acting you have plenty of things to hide behind and you can trick yourself into thinking you're not as vunerable. I have the odd phobia that if I am in front of a small audience - up to maybe 400 then I am nervous but if it is thousands of people I am perfectly calm. I'm a wierd girl - go figure.

dogtrot thnk you for posting that link to the Wonderfalls board - which by the way, it premires on Friday March 12th at 9 p.m. so we now have something to watch after Joan Of Arcadia. I found this review and if you look at the bottom of the page you will find links to three clips from the pilot and the theme song's music video ...grr argh...I cannot post the direct link because out HTML tips page won't let me in so just copy and paste my lovlies: http://www.northernstar.info/perspective/columns/greg_feltes_show/030204-2.asp

I read another article that mentioned FOX still has no plans to put Marti Noxon's Still Life into the lineup but keep looking for it - I thought I was gonna be bored by and and I was amazed instead.

Hi all!

Everyone and TarasApprentice Thanks for asking! My presentation went really well. I have a history for being a really bad public speaker but I think I may have shaken that off because, not only did I work without notes [although the presentation was done in powerpoint], but I actually knew the information and conveyed it clearly and concisely. Although I had fears to the contrary I was told that it wasn't even boring. Later on in the year I will have to do another longer one but I have yet to pick a topic.

On a related note why is it hard for people to get up in front of an audience and speak but not so hard to get up and act? Just a thought...

rack thanks so much for posting your repost on Alyson Hannigan's stage debut. I'm sorry about all that waiting and not being able to see her in the end.

kung fu cowboy well, how did it go?

mango Hi there *s* Great to see someone else talking about Wonderfalls - I got to see the firt 15 minutes of the pilot last year and it looks incredible. If I didn't know better I would have thought the guy who directed Amelie and City Of The Lost Children had directed it. I cannot wait until March 12th...Anyway the premise goes something like this; our main character is a girl who works at the souvenier shop at Niagra Falls. During work one day something happens and she is able to interact with inanimate objects who bear the likeness of animals - they speak to her and they advise her to do/not do/say certain things. In the end we find out that they are telling her things that will allow her to help others.

Ok Teddy although tardy my track of the week is in harmony with yours. A trio from Mozart's Cosi Fan Tutti called Soave Sia Il Vento. One of the loviliest pieces of music written for voices. I was lucky enough to sing it once. I owe your guardian a classical music compilation - please tell him I did not forget I just have a bad case of white rabbititis.

dogtrot happy to hear you had a good time at the Angel event - thanks for sharing your thoughts and the pics too!

My daughter has had various hair colors for years now. She does it herself, and it's a very long process. She does bleach first (although she is blond anyway...or at least I think she's still naturally blond).

because I know you were all losing sleep over this - the track is Ludacris; Stand Up. Lionhunter grovels ,but not in a creepy stalker way, in front of Evil Goddess Fire who is da bomb and font of all knowledge. Thank you for the help. I do like this song very much - its phat! (is that correct terminology?).

Thank god I start a new job on Monday - over the last three days I have watched Newlyweds, Punk'd, What went wrong, Cheaters, Rescue 911 and some guy with a beard who looks like a leprechaun and sits on that backs of crocodiles hitting them with a bucket.... I need saving from TRASH TV!

gothicwoman {{hugs}}. Nice to see you.

Almond I was thinking about(and envying) you and your new, reliable car this morning. My car's battery died this morning and I had to get the AA out to give me a jumpstart... but on the plus side - it gave me an excuse not to go to my old job today. Every cloud etc etc. Hope you are having a good week.

*waves* to everyone, especially Teddy and his Rack.

Hello to all. Am feeling dysfunctional - not least because none of the picture links below are working for me... 'puter has been having its little fits lately...grrr arrrgh.

I enjoyed "Smile Time" but it seemed a bit strange to me - almost as though a whole new raft of writers had taken over. I didn't actually look to see who the episode was written by but it just felt different. I did enjoy it and it made me laugh in many places. I also really like the idea of Ningel(?) and of course the Fred/Wesley pairing finally getting past the stammering stage.

A question for the USof A'ers: a movie called Honey is being released here in early March. It stars the girl from Dark Angel. The trailer for it has been running on MTV for a few days and it has a song running through it that I cannot identify. I think it would be hip hop dance track (although I'm not too great at music genre's) and it has a very strong drum beat and a deep man's voice singing/rapping "move when I move, move". Does anyone recognise this. I have looked for the soundtrack and searched for the lyrics but I can't find that song on the soundtrack and have read a load of criticism about how the best songs were left off the soundtrack. Any help would be gratefully received.

Lionhunter ushers in a slightly sheepish looking panther. She leads him up to the lurker loft, fluffs up his sheepskin blanket, fills his water bowl, gives him a gnu bone (his favorite) and, cautiously patting him on the head, tells him to be a good guard cat and leaves him in peace. He is very glad to be back.

You have to ask yourself, "what happened to the person who was holding the leash?" Now I'm scared.

Picture 8
And I overheard this attractive young lady ask Mr. Leary who his dermatiologist was.

Picture 9
Mr. Woodward (aka Knox) seems to be distracted.

http://www.buzztone.com/Wonderfalls/track.asp?sel=WM_Intervention

From what I know, the show's about a girl who can talk to inanimate animal statues/figures?
I've been a fan of DLM, Malcolm, JOA, etc.. and i like the humor this show has. it looks interesting...

Hi all. Rack’s copy of the Fith DVD arrived today so he’s busy drooling over that at the moment. Which leaves me his *cough* trusty teddy bear to fill in for him.

Well as it’s Friday that means…Rack’s teddy bear’s Track of the week

Eine kleine Nachtmusik (A Little Night Music)by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart

Mozart was a genius. The term genius tends to get handed out all too easily these days, but Mozart was truly deserving of the accolade. A prolific writer, who had written over 600 pieces of music by his untimely death at the young age of 35. There are so many pieces to choose from, I nearly went for the opera “Don Giovanni” , but I’ve opted for this. Although written in 1787 this is more reminiscent of some of his earlier works. It’s a more simplistic piece than some of his later works. Once you get beyond the too-familiar opening bars, it is (and remains) wonderfully melodic, inventive and especially in the andante a deeply moving piece of music.

Almond: No, Rack didn’t know that strawberries cloned themselves. It’s probably something that they have had to develop to keep supplies plentiful seeing the rate that he devours the poor little things by. I think the once tried to see if there was a branch of Alchemy the specialised in turning strawberries into ..well, even more strawberries. Alyssa Milano is “aesthetically pleasing”, but I secretly like the way that the sisters rid the world of warlocks – just don’t tell his nibs I said that.

Dogtrot: If you email your pictures to either me or Rack we’ll see that they get post here for you. You can get our email address by clicking on our names on the left of a post if you don’t already have them.

Evil Goddess (extra flamey): I know just how you feel. Most of the things I find out are from over hearing (or should that be under hearing in my case – I’m only little). Big people just don’t seem to want to tell you anything.

Kung Fu: Good Luck with the assignment. And as Rack always says..”When all else fails – cheat” – No, I don’t understand that either.

Ooops, Must dash..looks like Rack’s up to Graduation Day Part One…better get the emergency supply box of tissues otherwise will end up with a soggy carpet.

C-YA!!!!

Well, you’ve asked for it – why does that sound so ominous – and now you’re gonna get it. Mr Warlock’s review of “When Harry Met Sally”

Last Saturday was one of those cold but sunny days. There was a freshness and crispness in the air that helps to wake up and invigorate people. The journey down to London was thankfully uneventful, I had allowed sometime for a little “inadvertent sightseeing” or as most people call it “being totally lost” and delays. This gave me the opportunity to do some window shopping around Piccadilly Circus (No teddy, I wasn’t looking to buy a window) and Regent Street.
The theatre where the play was being staged, The Theatre Royal Haymarket, isn’t all that big and appeared smaller than Nottingham’s own Theatre Royal. But then this one was built in 1820 and was the replacement for the original, built in 1720 and known as The Little Theatre until 1766 when, under the instigation of the Duke of York, the theatre was given a Royal patent and became The Theatre Royal. I got to the theatre about an hour before the curtain was up in order to see if I could get a picture of Alyson as she arrived. After much waiting around the small crowd was informed that both Luke Perry and Alyson were already inside ~ oh hum I thought, still better luck later….how wrong I was.
The interior has changed quite a bit from the original John Nash design (No teddy no him from “A Beautiful Mind”) although the exterior remains largely unchanged.
It didn’t take too long for the theatre to fill up and it looked pretty much like a sell-out audience to me. This was the first performance after the opening night and I thought that there might be the odd hitch, but things appeared to run very smoothly. The stage was painted white and didn’t appear to be very big but what was seen as the back of the stage was the back wall for Sally’s flat in the opening act. I had thought that I’d seen this film, but as I watched the story unfold I realised that I’d either seen it and completely forgotten all about it (possible) or that I actually hadn’t seen it at all save for the much parodied erm…erm.. well you know the bit. As I can’t recall the film it’s heard to tell how much Marcy Kahan’s adaptation sticks to the screen play, but one thing struck me afterwards was how little depth is given to the characters. Harry is a corporate lawyer and we know little else about him same goes for Sally, who is some kind of journalist but in which area or field is never explained. It was a little like watching a film without the film part. So perhaps in retrospect, not the ideal raw material to try to convert into a play. Having said that, the main thing that the people here had paid for was to be entertained so did it deliver on that front – well yes is the answer. Of the two leads I thought that Luke look a little more relaxed, this was Alyson’s stage debut. But Ms. Hannigan did bring a perky, bright eyed Sally to the mix., more Michelle than Willow. If memory serves, the film was nominated for an Oscar and you tell by the number of laughs that it registered with the audience that this was not lost in translation to stage (did you notice how I slipped that film in there teddy – clever hugh?). The biggest cheer was for the obvious part, although I found one of the ensemble cast’s brilliant portrayal of a bar fly worthy of mention, especially his drunken fall off a bar stool in a sort of lunge at Sally. The pay off line “I’ll have what she’s having was spoken by a young man and not an older woman as in the film, which seemed to lose something to me. The two main supports Jake Broder and Sharon Small did a respectable job as the pairs two best friends Jack and Marie. During the scene changes film was projected of “real life” couples explaining how they met and fell in love onto a moveable front partition. This I found help to keep to audience occupied during the changes, the film was explained later in the play as Marie’s video installation (she was some sort of artist) and finished with Harry and Sally proclaiming that they had met and fell in love in three months, well twelve years and three months to be exact. This is another point where the play loses out to a film version, Harry and Sally don’t physical appear to age over the course of the relationship – perhaps they’re vampires.
All in all not a bad way to spent 2 hours 20 minutes.
As you weren’t allowed to take pictures even after the play had finished and the cast were doing a curtain call (I tried and got told off for my troubles) I once again waited outside by the stage door. There was a crowd there already mostly clutching some Willow Buffy merchandise. We waited and we waited. Then we waited some more. The crowd started to thin out, after about half an hour we were informed that they had left via the front entrance. Oh hum, I thought, no pictures ~ but still not as bad as the infamous Nancy Wilson incident. As I made my way home I wondered whether it was such a good idea to buy a T-shirt during the interval that said “You’re the most attractive woman that I’ve never wanted to sleep with”. I’m now convinced that wearing it will have many a wooded fish come my way.

The End.

(Mr Warlock would like to point out that he know nothing about acting but does have a vast depth of ignorance to draw upon)

Almond strolls into the Magic Box with a mug of coffee in one hand and a large bag of veterinarian-approved panther treats because she feels bad about the part she played in the Cheese Incident and misses the big furry cat in the other. She sets the latter down near the stairs to the lurker loft and wanders over to her comfy chair to sit awhile.

Hugs all! Well, someone in my neighborhood has a very short life expectancy - he just doesn't know it yet! I was watching the new "Angel" episode last night, and the program kept fuzzing out from cb bleed-over. At first it was just the picture, but by the end of the show it was affecting the sound, too. Argg! Haven't these people heard of filters?
(Spoiler for "Hole in the World") * Is Fred really DEAD!?! ARRGGG! Joss is weevil! It's bad enough that the WB has killed our show - must Joss kill all our favorite characters, too?
On the other hand - PossessedDeadFred looks really cool! *g*

Oh - and an astronaut could so kick a neanderthal's butt! 'Cause he would be smart and know martial arts. *g*
* (End spoiler for "Hole in the World")

Fire:Hi sweetie!
I'm so sorry you didn't have a chance to say good-bye to your friend! He'll be getting a leave when basic training is over, though. Right? Maybe you can ask his mom to let you know when he's coming home and make a point of seeing him then. I'm sure he'd be very happy to get letters from you while he's doing his time in the service. Try not to worry too much about him if you can help it - find something to take your mind off of it if you can. {{Hugs}}!

Kung Fu: How weird is this? I found an article in my inbox this morning from one of the newsletters I subscribe to......it was called "Cloning Demystified". *g* I don't have time to read the whole thing right now, but it looks interesting from the small amount of skimming I did. (The really funny thing is, it had been sitting there a long time - I just never got around to opening it! *g*)

Rack: Did you know strawberry plants clone themselves? (See above) Hey, did you have anything to do with that? *g*

OK, I'm off to Dad's house. I probably won't be back until tomorrow, so have a good day everyone!
*poof*

Hi there!

I'm sorry your pictures didn't turn out very well. That must have made you sad. Maybe you'll find some pictures of yourself in other people's albums, and you can grab copies for yourself. *s*
Thanks for the tip. I did manage to see Hidden Sky's pictures (along with some other people's) today. I've been trolling the Beta for links. Have you seen Dachelle's account of the event in her livejournal? There's a link to it at (Wed Feb 25 05:30:34 2004 65.56.108.27). It has some great Drew Goddard stories! While you're there, make sure you scroll back and read her "Angel. Can't. Read!" script. It's one of the funniest things I've ever seen! *g*

Go you for scoring the "Firefly" ad! What a great memento!
I thought I read somewhere today that the amulet went for $7,500! Your figure sounds much more reasonable, even for rabid fans! *eg*

I had my photo taken with David Fury, and a took a few other shots. But I was using a disposable camera, and the pictures were not very good. If you really want to see some good photos, go to the Bronze Beta and look at Hidden Sky's post: Wed, Feb 25 @ 17:25:09. Thee are a lot of photos available there. Good photos.

I did have the winning bid on an ad placed in Variety for Firefly that was autographed by Joss and the cast. I tried bidding on a big poster for Once More With Feeling that was autographed by a lot of writers, but it was out of my reach. I heard that the amulet that Spike wore went for $2500!

Good morning! (Well, for me, anyway! *g*)

That's really interesting that your armed forces even encourages creative thought, much less requires it as part of your service. Do you mind if I ask what your rank is? Is this something everyone does? It sounds as though the army really is a learning experience for civilian life in your country!
I must admit, I don't know too much about cloning (other than what I've read in sci-fi books *g*). What is your opinion now that you've researched it? Can you provide a link or two to some information?

I think it's great that you want to be a teacher! Do you plan on teaching a particular subject or age group?

Off to check my mail. I'm spending the day at home, so I'll be in and out.

Later, peeps!

Yes I do know the movie "The Running Man", although I don't think I have ever seen it all the way through [I have a habit of not seeing an entire movie in one sitting unless I'm in a cinema [or tied down]]. The assignment I am doing [and indeed should be doing at this very moment] is a presentation. Originally I chose to do ethical and moral dilemmas concerning cloning technology, but I'm spending a lot of time explaining the different methods of cloning so I may just entitle it "cloning". It is only supposed to go for ten minutes and I think I will cover that fairly easily with just that. If people choose to have a debate afterwards then they can [and be well informed because of my presentation :) ]. The arny makes us do this sort of thing every once in a while, and I plan to get out of the army at the end of the year and go to universtiy to become a teacher so I look at it all as good experience.
