'The Kriyas itself are probably nothing else but a blend of Lahiri's favorite yoga techniques that he acquired throughout the years '

Why this speculation?
If you look at his Patrivali letters, you see where it is mentioned that Initiation money was given to Babaji by Lahiri and his close disciples who were allowed to initiate. If you believe Swami Pranabanandaji, SriSriYukteswar and others, then you see that they also met Babaji. Therefore, some of us can reasonably assume Babaji existed and that Lahiri Mahasaya had an actual Guru in Babaji. Now if we can believe this, and why should we not, then please tell me why you think the techniques of kriya are a "blend" of his favorite techniques of yoga? That makes it sound like a mesmash of techniques.
Kriya is a progressive sadhana.....the higher kriyas are based on certain attainments along with kechari mudra...not generally publicized. If the higher kriyas such as the second and the third are taught once the sadhakas experience and practice are ripened, then they bare fruit. If the pre-requisites are not attained before revealing the higher kriyas, then nothing is gained even if one is shown all the kriyas. Third kriya alone without the ripening of the first and second is of no value to anyone. This can only be known through personal experience.
The beauty of this is that the secrets of kriya can not be known unless the Sadhaka practices and matures the experience. We can type the techniques out, display them all over the place, but without the key of deep assiduous practice, the real sacred art of Kriya can NOT be known.
The progressive initiations of kriya are not a "blend" of Lahiri Mahasaya's favorite techniques, but are a sacred science based on the inner laboratory of experience through specific progressive techniques invoving pranayam. He selflessly offered these profound teachings to his fellow humanity. Lets appreciate and preserve their value appropriately.
