I don't mind some voluntary participation. I don't mind people investing in American business, either.

I DO mind politicizing Social Security to fluff one's sails.

Can we reduce the deficit? Can we bridge the gap between our educational standards and our better-educated European and Asian allies? Can we create jobs? Can we end our dependency on fossil fuels and stop worrying about that nutty region of the world we rely on far too much? Can we lower SIDS rates in America? Can we figure out a civil way to discuss the abortion debate? Can we raise health care standards?

Can we?

Nah, let's work on Social Security before 2042 comes around and we only get 75% of what we were supposed to get.

Frankly, conservatives surprise me, here. Usually, they say "it's my money, let me do what I want to with it." Now, it's "it's my money, let me do what I want to with it as long as it fits within social (there's that word, again..SOCIAL) security guidelines."

I'd figure most conservatives would rather not participate in a SOCIAL progam.
