In reply to: Terrie 's message, "Offbeat Proposal" on 20:08:41 10/14/03 Tue

having read the following proposal I feel compelled to give my opinion :0) (Having one of those days!)

1. What is the point of the offbeat competition, is it meant to be a fun event that offers university dancers a chance to do something different? Have I got the wrong impression of the event? What are the marks given for, is it creativity, entertainment, dancing technique...?

2. I think that ensuring only unis that enter at SUDA or NUDA can enter at IVDA is a good way of solving the organisational problems with the event at IVDA.

3. Forgive me if i have missed a whole chunk of the discussionson this topic, but why is the only proposal for shortening the time limits 1min 45 secs (Half previous?) why not 2min 30?

4. At first glance I do not agree with the proposal for only the top 10 teams entering at IVDA, as I dont feel it is in keeping with the spirit of the event (although my impressions may ne wrong on this count). If the event is one that holds the same prestige as the team match, for example, then a qualifying round (SUDA/NUDA top 5) would make sence. Is this the case?

5. Is it not just a case of finding a balance between allowing offbeat dancers the time they deserve to perform the routines that they have worked on and entertaining the masses, and keeping the IVDA event under 24 hours? :0) With that in mind is a qualifying senario the answer?

Nat

PS having an opiionated day so feel free to slate anything I have said is Ive missed a key fact :0)
