 I don't know of the ruling Vesna mentioned, as I haven't really been following it but amateurs certainly used to be able to teach with the relevant qualifications and under a pro - they can't set up their own dancing school. Craig could certainly do this when he was still amateur as his parents have a school with his brother (who used to dance with Lyn Marriner). One of the differences is Ams are not allowed to run comps or dances for profit, I believe they can get paid for demos but only to cover "expenses" - but where do these end? Travel? Grooming? costumes? lessons required to get to that level etc.....

In America the "elite" amateurs have permission to teach, and in other countries amateur is a name only, they are full time pros, they do not have day jobs and teach pretty much full time! I very much doubt Warren & Kristy do anything other than dance, other top amateurs in this country only work part time if at all. And this is what we are up against when we leave uni !!

I think in every club, more experienced members "teach" to some extent for no reward. If they know what they are talking about, personally I think this is a good idea. It's not like they are taking business away from pros. However someone very nearly got into trouble when advertising lessons on a website when they were amateur. It's a very delicate area, I don't think EADA would sanction this unless the persons teaching have qualifications.
