IDK if you're the same poster slagging SRO on this board for the past few days, but you really need to move on. The committee did a good job with what they had to work with given current circumstances. Numbers were down considerably this year, so your claim about cramped ballrooms is just bogus. There was plenty of room for everyone. This was the first year I didn't have to fight my way in/out of awards, and didn't have to climb over 15 people and their stuff just to reach my seat. It says a lot that the ballrooms were a lot cleaner at the end of the day. Yes, the vibe was more subdued, and TCs weren't dressed for the Met Gala. Not sure which bathroom you used, but attendants were actively working. You're in Orlando, not the middle of the Sahara, so you have other food options. Most people know that hotels jack up their food prices, and plan accordingly. Publix was a mere 3-minute drive away. Many restaurants were within walking distance. My family of 4 got 2 takeout meals to split, and we still had left overs. I agree the stages weren't that great, but historically that's been par for the course at SRO. Wish they'd invest in marley. Still, no falls on our stage. As with any other SRO, there were outlier scores, but most were within about 10 places for the comps I looked at. For a major, that's pretty much within range.

Are you actually complaining that your DD got an award? I hope not! Maybe you should hand it off to one of those "parents with permanent scowls and frowns" (much like yourself) with an equally disgruntled dancer who didn't reach their goal. My DD doesn't care if her vase is crystal, glass, or from the dollar store. She's happy to receive it, and filled it with ornaments.

As a parent, you set the tone for your kids at these events. If you're miserable, they will be too. I had to learn that the hard way over the years. Regardless of results, you still have a certain amount of control over the overall experience. We reminisced about past Os with various friends from different dance schools. We've seen our share of cheers, but lots of tears as well. The kids tend to handle it better than the adults, honestly. If not even Disney World could cheer you up afterwards, though, that's on you.
