Both are true - it is a competitive art that is a beautiful cultural art form, and we've made some wonderful friendships. At the same time - cheating and corruption is rampant. It's not new. It is not just parents who are sour grapes. I would say most parents are naive about when they first enroll their kids and gradually learn about it. Many were in the dark about just HOW deep and widespread the cheating was until it was out there plain as day in text messages and screenshots. There are incredibly talented dancers and musicians.. and it's also a brutally expensive "hobby" with zero chance of a college scholarship. The dresses are crazy expensive compared to 20 years ago. Everything is extreme. Numbers are down for feisanna. It can all be true at the same time. I dont' know if we would pick it again, but our kids love it. :'( It's like the mob -you can't escape.
