Subject: Wanting to check with the board members

Siyo Ya'll,
I have been pondering if I am in this boat by myself so I figured I would appeciate everone on the board for feed back on this.

I have worked with various people on what they ask of wanting to live thier Heritage (Native American). I have worked with several groups to learn, they feel they know me better than I do myself and my ways are Cult or Supernatural oriented. The last time I checked I always ask our Creator for guidance and understanding in ever thing I do. I have little knowledge of my Cherokee and Seminole since I was not raised on the Rez. but got to visit with family who lived there (South FL.).

I am NDN as well with my mannerizims, since I don't know everything there is to know of my Heritage. I have worked and have talked with Elders and Family members who are of Din'e, Ponca, Kiowa, Cherokee, Seminole, Lakota as well as many other Tribal affiliations. I don't quite understand how people who want to learn can't just come right out and say this is totally different from my Christian rearring and I don't understand please help me understand. Instead they fear what I try and help with and they believe I am of other than I am.

I wont go into spritualality but this is a large part of being NDN, but for understanding I just want to generalize this. I have found in my travels alot of mannerizims are so close it would take disecting everything to see the differences and with some they are unique to that particular Tribe. I take this very seriously and to Heart since this is how I live, I am Native American not white. Yes I was born to a white Mother whom I Love dearly and was raised in main stream society but I chose to follow my NDN side.

I guess what I am wanting to understand when you try and help people, am I the only person who gets this kind of feedback from who we try and help with understanding. Maybe I am wrong in tring to help people but it is my path and I am not ready to turn away and be what I'm not. I guess the saddest part of this understanding is this is why we had Missionaries who converted us back when, it still holds true today. If they don't feel like this is more than they are ready for then just admitt to themselfs and the person who is tring to help. Yes I know there are people out there who use NDN Sprituallity for a paycheck and they need to stop before GrandFather stops them as he always does.

I guess ya'll can see this don't sit well with me since I am hurting inside to think people think they know better. Yes I have sang for a few years I walked away for 21years and returned several years ago but my teachings never left and my ex-wife didn't know I still wanted this path. I just wish I could remember all the songs I was taught back when I was younger, they need to be sang so the people wont forget them.
Well I'll step off the soap box now I have rambled on longer than ya'll want ta read hehehe.
