Have you ever been so angry that you just gotta scream, but screaming doesn't help?

I know I've been watching and reading way too much news lately, but I can't help it. I'll turn it off and try to do something else. I tell myself "don't think about it, I can't do anything about it anyway," but then I think "what if everybody felt that way?"

I feel compelled to closely watch ol Dubya's every move as I would a hyperactive 3 year old throwing a temper tantrum in a room full of fine china. I try to put it out of my head, stop and smell the roses, BUT HE WON'T LET ME DO THIS! I even think sometimes "go ahead and have your stupid little war, go ahead and destroy everything we've worked so hard to achieve, go ahead and destroy the world -- I don't care." The only problem is I do care. What's a mother to do?

I've said this before, but when Bush was first elected my husband commented, "Just watch, we'll be at war within 6 months." I jokingly commented "yeah, he'll go down in history as the man responsible for the total destruction of the world."

Maybe it's just the timing -- overload. On top of all this war talk, I am still reeling about his recent Affirmative Action comments, behavior and comments at an MLK celebration, and now talk of the Roe v Wade case being threatened -- not to mention his stand on the environment, economics -- heck, EVERYTHING.

One year ago, he said he has proof that Hussein has weapons of mass destruction. So, where the heck are they? The UN has been over there for quite some time now and has only come up with some empty warheads -- don't we have warheads? Don't we have WMD? Bush, keeps on pounding his chest and declaring Hussein either disarm or we'll be at war. What if he really doesn't have any WMD? It won't matter, he'll just come up with some other excuse.

Whether we go to war or not at this point almost doesn't matter. We were involved in a "war on terror" -- Bush's actions now are only recruiting more future terrorists -- more people to hate us. If we do go to war, he will be recruiting future Osama Bin Ladins. In my opinion, the damage has already been done. Is it really too late (whether we go to war or not)?

By having all those troops over there "on the ready," I suspect Bush is hoping that Hussein will strike first. This would certainly "justify" his war, wouldn't it? I can just see the smirk on Bush's face, telling us "See? I told you he was a danger to us!"

How I long for the days when our top presidential concern was Monica Lewinsky and her stained dress.

Thanks. I had to get that off my chest, but I still want to scream.

Kathy
