Jill , Brieanna has not had alot of ear infections but my 2 oldest ones did . My oldest had ear infection on top on ear infection. So at a year
I was SO sick of taking her in every other week it seemed so I took her to a ENT dr .....That was the BEST thing I ever did . The first time I took her in he said lets try a few differant kinds of med . & if her ears do not clear up in 4 weeks we'll put tubes in .....well after 2 weeks he said that it did not look like the fluid was down any so I could either wait 2 more weeks or go ahead & do tubes I said that I was ready for her to get better so we did tubes ......When she had it done he told methat the fluid had more then likely been in there since birth & her dr NEVER told me ........So was better by the next day...My son had alot of ear infections later like around 2 or 3 but he wasn't talking right .it sounded like he was talking under water(kind of ) Well w/ our in. if the dr didn't sent us to ENT they they wouldn't pay so finally when he was 5 I MADE the dr send him over to ENT & the first thing he did was put tubes in & took out tonsals(ms?) He is still in speech but he is sooooo much better now .....
So if I were you I'd try to get to ENT in Jan & I bet once they run theat pussure test (can't remember what its called ) they will find that the infection goes down just enough that the dr can't see it pushing on the ear drum but its still there ....So it never goes away w/meds ......
I hope that helps you soon ...feel free to contact me if you need to ....
