Though never did he sleep- his eyes remained barely open and unmoving, unseeing except for the play of images pulled from his memory by the gentle musical fingers, peacefully vivid in the very same imagination that could so easily work to rile him to madness. Tranquil in his own quiet trance, lost in lyrics, lips even moving slightly and silently a few occasions at melodies he knew, a natural talent for music that he since his mortal years kept hidden from the world, the hour passed by without any sense of time and he sighed softly at the end of the serenade, caught still in the echoing enchantment.
