Actually, it wasn't said as a cheap shot, but part of their Web Series Workshop feature, where a panel of web-series producers review each other's sites. From the Mu review, it's pretty clear that the other producers know nothing about fantasy whatsoever beyond Frank Baum and Lewis Carroll. Most of the time they seem irritatingly anti-text, too:
"There is so much obvious effort put into the graphical design of the main and episodes page (stunning graphical work, honestly), that the wonderful imagery that spices up the episodes feels ignored, and the layout seems kinda drab and lacks any hook to help back up the written word. ... [Mu] includes some stunning imagery that could be graphically represented for the site browser (particularly because the internet is truly a visual medium)..."
This sort of criticism comes up with the soaps, too. It makes the curmudgeon in me start mumbling about expensive high-tech picture books.
The workshop's an interesting concept, though, I might bung TFoHG in next time they do it, just for kicks.
