IT DOES GET BETTER!!! I got my braces on and the expander in all in the same day and I felt like I had a real mouth full of metal. I had had an expander before so I sorta new what to expect the second time around. That water-on-the-roof of your mouth thing will go away...it was awful. I went through stages with the expander. I think the other thing that I had a problem with was that my tongue got really tired and felt strained. I would notice that I was talking a lot less at the end of the day to give myself a rest. As far as eating all I can say is that you need to take smaller bites. I have had this thing for 5-6 weeks now and I eat everything normally and I am two weeks SARPE post-op also. There is no reason to be eating baby food and blending things up. I learned to take small bites and chew on one side at a time. I found especially in the beginning that it was better for me to eat smaller meals more frequently, a sort of practice, if you will. I am not saying that you are not going to get things stuck but that is the nature of the beast. I swear it gets better!!
