In 1998, Sema signed a ten-year contract with the Rail Settlement Plan to develop, implement and support a new ticket revenue settlement system for the UK’s various rail operators. Sema has also developed a new generation of automatic ticket machines which are being installed in railway stations and will be linked to the system. Sema is also a supplier to the national rail operators in Belgium, France, Germany and The Netherlands. In 1998, Sema’s turnover was GBP 1.25 billion.
