    OK here we go. Sorry for the long post but.. I am looking for some opinions on where to go. The goal is to own a car that runs high 12s low 13s that is reliable and cheap. By cheap I mean a budget of like 3k complete. Car can be either driven or trailered or both. Not a street car. I have a street Bu wagon with an LT1 in it now. What I have is a 80 4dr bu with an unknown sb 4bbl in it and a bad trans. I also have around an 80 bu wagon from ga that is solid with a bad 6 in it. I just got a 94 ex police caprice w 200k on it that has the LT1 4l60e trans and oil coolers 4 wh disc brakes posi et al. The body is so so with some exterior damage. I can reprogram the caprice at work. So do I build a carb sb for the wagon? Do I pull the LT1 and trans and put it in the wagon? Do I sell the malibu's and gut the caprice then add 4 series gears. Do I sell the whole damn mess and buy a car already done if I can find one? About 60% of the budget is tied up in what I have now. I figure I can get a trashed mustang or something for near the 3k but I do not want to own someones headache as I have enough of my own now. I also do not have tons of time to spend wrenching however I do have the garage where I work to do the job. Lifts lights welders torches ect. I am leaning towards slapping a cam in the LT1 checking the crank { they are notoriously weak }installing a pump and sticking it in the wagon. Maybe bearings and rings if needed. I also have a few sb chevy blocks and a couple trannys but I am sure they will need a complete rebuild to be any good. Anyone have a complete running combo cheap enough that all i need are headers and a crossmember? Thanks in advance for your opinions and it ok to laugh at me every one else does!!
