Much of OT contains the killing of those who break the commandments, including those who don't follow the first "Thou shalt have no other gods before me."
Even in Revelations the non-believers get slaughtered.
I don't know how you missed it.

Most Christians says its "Do not murder", murder is illegal killing. Killing isn't always illegal though, if it was even the bible god would be guilty of ordering his followers to sin.

And Christians at the time have interpreted "his word" as to allowing these atrocities. Interpretation is the devils playground, nevertheless people still form their own interpretation.

Can the kids show me evidence of what the teacher said? Can they show me written permission?

Unless you are saying to take the bible completely literal, you have your own interpretation which you view as correct just as other christians have differing interpretations which they see equally as valid.
