What a trip!

Although my name is still up as a host at Alternet (user id: luaz) I have withdrawn from participation in the forums there. Yes, it is a good antidote to the mainstream news, and it is heartening to know how many people are thinking a bit differently than the mainstream news would have us know, but I finally got overcome by the extreme anti-spiritual mindset of that community.

It's interesting in the extreme, to me, how I go from one side to another side of the same issues.... In this case, I participated in those forums as a part of my real service in the world, knowing that there really isn't a separation between spirituality and politics, etc., and that even if people are atheists they are still, well, you know, still Divinely Human.

And, there is a healthy minority there, at Alternet, who do confess various types of activity and interest in various types of spirituality. But. It's like there is a stone wall up, one cannot get anything much openly considered about, shall we say, beyond -rational -concerns, without someone coming in right quick and rather viciously ripping into ALL spiritual concerns as total superstition and the bane of humanity. (Early on I spent a lot of time trying very gently and persistently to get through that with a few of the folks, to no avail..)

I am at a place where I know I have to claim my existence as a spiritual being in the world much more directly than I can do in that atmosphere. And I felt i was spinning my wheels at Alternet.

Not to mention the fact that it took huge amounts of time and energy to do the hosting work (a volunteer position to boot) And I have to put that time and energy into my RL, my "WHERE I AM NOW" place, and stop hanging out in virtual reality so much, cause I was starving out there.

So, I wrote to the Community Manager and told him just that I am burnt out. Can't say too much, he is a dear but also one of those dead set against "religion" in any form. Still, he was very understanding and is leaving my host tools in place in the hopes that I will return sooner rather than later -- who knows?

I do still read there a bit. Cassandra, do you post there, or just read?

Ah, these twists and turns, so VERY strange!
