Subject: Footnote to my above post - the operation is over and I will recuperate gradually over the next 4 to 6 weeks. I have to be very careful not to stretch the midsection or I will get a very sharp pain.

[> [> Hi Ron! Glad to hear you are doing fine! How did you manage to get a surgery appt. in this country, while you are still alive?*LOL* It's pretty hard to find a doctor here in the first place, and then they let people wait and wait and wait... what's up with that? Oh well, maybe that's just one of those Yukon things.*g* Only 30000 people in the whole territory, but I'm guessing only 3 doctors in total. ;) -- Martina, 12:26:49 05/30/05 Mon

[> [> [> Let's see - how long did I wait? I saw the surgeon in early March, told him I wanted the repair done and that I was free from other obligations from May 9 on. He checked and told me May 26 in about 5 minutes. Yes, the shortage of doctors everywhere in Canada is a problem, but much more so in isolated areas like the Yukon. My family doctor, a young lady, could not give me a pre-operation check since she went on maternity leave April 1. She couldn't find anyone to take over her practice, so had to close it down until the fall. -- Ron, 06:21:00 06/02/05 Thu

[> [> [> [> That's good news about the surgery Ron, does this mean no piddling around in your train gardens this spring? -- Jennifer, 11:36:46 06/02/05 Thu

[> [> [> [> [> I don't know about "piddling around" LOL, but I won't likely feel like getting down on my hands and knees for another week or two to starighten up track after the ravages of winter. Stitches out today! I was out to a meeting last night. This is going very well! -- Ron, 04:10:03 06/03/05 Fri

[> [> [> [> [> [> Very good for you Ron! Can't figure out that doctor problem here. They do earn a lot here too, just like anywhere else. From Germany I'm used to getting things done almost immediately. Big surgeries - next week, that type of thing.*lol* Oh well, on the other hand some other things go faster in Canada. -- Martina, 14:15:35 06/03/05 Fri
