Subject: Three New Pics!

Well we finally got some pics developed from the Minnesota Ren Fest. There are 3 of them in Pics Three on page 8. The first one is of Vern & I with our friend Kris. The second two are of Vern & I in all our Scottish Garb. We tried to get a pic of what Vern was wearing under his kilt (sorry ladies, he was wearing a pair of boxers that had a pic of a large fish on it that read "Nice Bass"!). He did however turn, throw his kilt up over his head and show a few lucky folks his "Bass". Unfortunately, the camera didn't catch it in time! We had a good time even tho' it was cold and windy. I can truly appreciate the multi-purpose uses of the arasaid!

[> I was thinking about the term "arisaid". The way I have seen it used most often (through DD's dance stuff) is to represent a type of tartan. For example, the tartan of DD's kilt is called Red Fraser Arisaid. Most arisaid tartans have lots of white/cream in them to show up while dancing. However, the word can also represent an article of clothing. -- Brenda, 10:59:59 11/26/03 Wed

[> I didn't know that part about the actual word "arisaid" either Brenda. Thanks for the info! The way I'm wearing it in the pics is the "old way". I did alot of research on how Scottish women wore their clothes before I made the costumes and back then it was wrapped around as a second skirt, belted and then thrown over their shoulder and pinned with a brooch. Kind of a women's version of the men's great kilt only on a much smaller scale. I really enjoy watching the celtic dancers with their colorful plaids. It's fitting that your DD has the "Red Frasier" plaid for her costume (that is if you've read DG's books) *wink* -- Lori, 11:27:16 11/27/03 Thu
