Contrary to popular belief among a particular level of maturity, high school and the real world are two completely separate places. High school revolves around popularity. The real world doesn't.

Does the Internet belong to either of these worlds or is it in a world of its own?

As far as I can see, the Internet revolves around so-called anonymity. Besides, what would popularity on the Internet gain me? Aside from the possibility of an inflated ego, nothing tangible.
