10 Mary Sue hallmarks that piss me off.

1. Their ability to completely take over a fic, with little said about the characters and too much long-winded paragraphs about the Mary Sue.

2. We're supposed to actually LOVE the character.

3. They upstage canon characters routinely, thus making them look stupid/incapable. The ficcer never gives a thought to the fact that they got on fine before she arrived.

4. She's easily the most beautiful character in the story. So much so that she can get any canon character into bed with ease.

5. The universe mourns if she is killed, this continues for the remainder of the story. Of course she always dies a hero's death.

6. Her character flaws are things like 'she cares too much'. The ficcer cannot give her the dignity of being guilty about doing something that's actually wrong.

7. Any character who opposes her noble cause is demonized by default. This includes those characters who are sleeping with the man of her dreams in the canon material. Failing this, the canon is completely ignored.

8. She drops into the ficverse with the almighty plot device. She may be a friend/lover/ex-lover/relative of a canon character.

9. She share's the ficcers pen name, and this is an instant give-away.

10. She's always good in bed,and can sleep with more than one canon character without looking like a slut. Any other character does this and there's harsh words to be had. This is a priviledge reserved for Mary Sue and for Mary Sue alone.

Those are my major pet-peeves, can anyone think of anything else.
