Subject: Well, I finally saw Matrix Reloaded last night and I have plenty to say about it...**why yes, there would be spoilers inside**

We won Gold Class tickets that we used to go see this movie. It was great. I was able to get a pizza and a beer, the seats were *really* comfortable and best of all there were only a few other ppl in the theatre so there wasn't (much) talking through the movie and no one kicked our chairs:)

So I'm glad I didn't have high expectations of this movie or else I woulda been let down. Another example of a sequel in which the ppl who make it think quantity beats quality. Nuh-uh, wrong, Wachowski Bros. Just about every fight/action sequence in this movie seemed to exist purely to show off their ultra-expensive sfx. They had battles for the sake of having battles whereas in the first one there were *reasons* for the fight scenes. Also, the philosophical stuff in The Matrix, tho complicated, at least made some sort of sense. Half the crap they went on with in Reloaded made me think to myself, "Wtf they goin' on about?" Morpheus's speeches have now become dull, pointless and just too bloody hard to understand. That said, he had a few good lines.

There were two characters I really didn't like in this movie. One was that evil program guy, Merovingian his name was, (who was married to that chick in the white plastic-looking stuff who asked Neo for a kiss) with the shitty accent that seemed to keep changing and second was that old Architect dude who created the Matrix. His speeches were the worst of all. He just crapped on with...crap, basically. The only thing I found interesting about his scene with Neo was whenever Neo would respond with a curse, all the monitors behind him would respond in similar ways (it was fun listening to all the Neos on the monitors cursing in response and such). It was aslo fun to see all the different scenes from The Matrix on the monitors too (usually it bothers me when shows haveta just use tapes of old footage, like with Doyle's kiss with Cordy being replayed in 'Birthday' S3) but it didn't bother me in this movie. It seemed to work in well. That said, Architect dude and Merovigian guy bored the crap outta me. Can they die now, please? Merovigian was a fucking wuss! Running away after Neo beat up all his flunkies. He's not much of a badguy at all. He's pointless.

Where the hell was Tank btw? Were we just meant to believe what was eluded to? That he'd died somehow? That's crap. I hate when movies don't give an acceptable reason for a character no longer being around (see MIB2). Pretty much *all* the new characetrs were boring. Tank's replacement was *alright* but nowhere near as interesting. The only characters I could give a shit about were Neo, Trinity and Morpheus. Yet even they seemed to lack any real emotion at all in this movie. Is there some thing where after you've been unplugged you become emotionless? They lack any in alot of places.

Now onto the fights. Like you said, sil, they became tedious. Tho I'm slightly ashamed to admit that my fav fight scene was infact one of the most tedious. It was when Neo first took on all the Agent Smiths. Now I know there were parts where you could so easily tell the cgi but I just thought it was neat. From the trailer, it was the bit that most caught my eye. Speaking of eyes, *my* eyes got *really* sore after watching Neo beat up (and get beaten up by) the Agent Smiths. Following all those quick moves, gave me a headache (tho that coulda been due to the sound as well). Fav bits of the scene were Neo holding onto that pole running around xena-style kicking all the agents and watching the Agent Smiths go flying this way and that.

For some reason, the scene with Trinity flying out the window backwards with all the shattering glass, shooting at the Agent who came after her, really didn't do much for me. Maybe just because I knew everything in that scene besides the two characters was fake/cgi. It just seemed like SO much cgi and waaaaay too much slo-mo for me (which is ironic since my fav fight involved heaps of cgi;) The car chase scene was alright. But it was a shame the keymaker died, kinda made that whole car chase kinda pointless since he died anyways. Personally, I *liked* the music used in the fight scenes in this film (I know you didn't, sil;). Especially the music during my fav fight scene. The most pointless, tedious and all-together unsatisfying fight scene in the movie (for me) was when Neo took on Merovigian's lackeys. I was like, *yawn*:)

I agree we coulda done with less of the Zion rave/Neo and Trinity sex scenes. It went on too long. I haveta say, I'd thought I'd been spoiled for the ending after reading something in the newspaper regarding Matrix Reloaded (tho it hadn't even hinted that it'd give spoilers away). From it, I had come to believe that Neo was gonna die in the end. Then when I saw the movie, once Trinity got shot I thought, "Hm, maybe Trinity dies" but lo and behold Neo saved her (how'd he *do* that anyways?) but then when Neo stopped the sentinals I thought, "Here we go, he's dead now and will be resurrected in Revolutions" but no, wait, he's just in a coma. *yawn* The ending *I* thought we were gonna get was better than the real one. So, Agent Smith, after sticking his hand in the dude and cloning himself, is *inside* the guy who we saw at the very end is he? And now free from the Matrix, yes? Is that it? That's their big climax? *yawn*. What was with the bit where he was cutting himself with the knife? He wanted to feel real pain or something?

How freaking powerful is Neo now. Can take on hudreds of agents, fly, save a dying person, stop sentinals and *still* be alive! At least he only held his arms Superman style *once* (you know, one arm pulled back, the other outstretched?). It's no worse than Spiderman ripping off Superman with the whole tearing his clothes to reveal the red and blue suit underneath. It's slightly amusing that Neo pulls with him cars and and glass and shit when he flies past buildings. At least his flying didn't look *crap* (imho). Well, review ended (tho I probably forgot some stuff). Btw, qc, in the unlikely event that you read (all) of this *g*, Braca really didn't have that great a part in this movie;)
