Jim, I'm totally at a loss? What the F*** are you going on about? I never said that what you wrote in your post was "copied from another site". I tried to answer your questions as to:

1. The origin of the white lanyard.
2. The original story about running from the guns(colours).

I stated in my reply to your post, that I (me that is) copied an article from another site (ARmy Rumour SEvice or ARRSE for short) to illustrate to you, the origin and history of the lanyard. The said article is as factual as can be.

The story about the abandonment of the colours (guns), during the Crimea War and the subsequent awarding of the white lanyard as a mark of cowardice is nearly as old as the Royal Regt of Artillery itself and, as the article states, is believed to be a wind up, started by the Royal Engineers who were raised at the same time as the R.A and shared our home at Woolwich in the begining.

Might I respectfully ask that you read the posts again (carefully)!!!
