Subject: I'm home from the hopspital

I got home yesterday afternoon, about 4 or 5 o'clock, I can't remember. I've been in the hospital since about 2:30 Sunday afternoon. I went into surgery at 5 p.m. Sunday afternoon and got out of surgery at about 8:30 p.m. I hyperextended my left knee resulting in multiple (3) fractures of the tibia. In order to repair these breaks, the surgeon had to chisel the flexor tendon that runs over the kneecap loose from the tibia so he could flip the kneecap out of the way and put 2 L-brackets on the sides of my tibia and hold them in place with 8 screws. So----- I've been in severe pain, under heavy sedation, and feeling pretty darn sorry for myself for a week now. I'm exhausted, and hurting, bound in a hospital bed or wheel chair for at least a month because if I put even an ounce of pressure on that knee until the part he had to chisel out heals, I will blow the whole knee out and have to go thru the whole procedure again. I can't even get up and potty by myself. It's pretty bad when your kids have to help you get on your adult potty chair and then go empty your potty. Makes a woman feel pretty small. Then this close to Christmas, and we've done almost NO shopping for the kids, and I can't get out of bed, much less the house and into a vehicle to go shopping. I had to be transported home by ambulance. I'm out of work for at least 3 months. Unable to even start physical therapy for at least a month and only then if the x-rays show that the tendon repair has healed enough to not snap. I'm sorry for whining, but I'm absolutely miserable. Can't move, can't potty, can't shop, can't do anything. BAH HUMBUG!!!

OK that's the short version of my saga. Will try to check in when I can. My sis in law is letting me borrow her laptop to get online for just a while till I can get into the room where the computer desk is, so I'll try to check in as often as possible. No promises.

Love ya, and hope you all have a better Christmas than mine.

Angie
