I was struck by how the narrative of the two SW6 derbies was almost identical – home team scores in the first half, then away team turns it around with two late goals, including one in injury time – and then how that exact narrative was repeated for a third time against Southampton on Saturday.

Then I thought, hang on that’s what happened at Newcastle too, and kind of the same (in even more dramatic fashion) at home to Brentford.

Then I thought, how many 2-1s have we actually had this season? Turns out it’s 10 out of 34 games. Some kind of record?

What does it all mean? I guess it does suggest we don’t score too many, our defence is ok but not great, we’ve become a bit formulaic to watch and every game is kind of on a knife-edge, one way or the other. Doesn’t seem to matter who we play. Unlike in previous Silva seasons where we would occasionally give someone a walloping, the biggest margin of victory this season has been two goals (five times) and the other nine wins have been by one. Our losses have been even tighter – only twice by two goals, and once by three at home to Wolves. The other eight were by a single goal.

No wonder it’s so stressful watching us - 26/34 games have been either a draw or one-goal margin (i.e. the result still up for grabs) when the final whistle went. No time for either relaxing or despairing with the outcome already settled!

    - Not harsh at all. Waterboy spouts the same bollocks day after day, week after week. I happen to agree with you, neither Raul or Muniz are ideal over a whole Prem season, but they’ve done well enough, and they’re all we have. We do not have any divine right to ‘put teams to bed’, every victory is hard earned, winning by multiple goals is a bonus.     - Just in case you mean it literally....15 goals each in their combined 3098 mins would make them the Prem's most productive scorers, well ahead of Salah. Even half as many again as they've scored would rank them 2nd to him, alongside Isak. As it is, they are just below Mbueno and just above Mateta in goals per min. And those two are viewed as Prem successes! Either would be good here, but ....if we saw them regularly we'd clearly see them *miss* approx as often as the two that we do see.         It’s just lazy, don’t score enough goals, CFs must be rubbish and we never replaced mitro, but any sort of analysis shows it’s a lack of goals from midfield and set pieces which is our Achilles heel, nothing to do with our CFs, I actually think both have done really well, lived off scraps at times given our not so creative midfield.         100% agree. Beyond general midfield and free-kicks there's also shots from outside the area. Harry Wilson scores those. Who else though? Robinson and Andreas get themselves in a remarkably large number of decent shooting positions in that regard and rarely even hit the target. Robinson, for instance, has had 42 shots the last three seasons, zero goals. Andreas 148, 9 goals. Meanwhile Berge and Lukic don't even try.         Sums up why it needs to be Berge OR Lukic if we are to progress. 504 career appearances between them, and just 33 goals. Won't be changing their habits now.         I disagree in that goals do not have to be scored evenly through the team . There are FAR more goal to be had from Muniz if he can only commit to the club and try his best every game . He is only 23 . Plenty of time to play for other clubs ( bigger than Spurs in the future . Levy has spent £65 and £60m on forwards in the last 2 years .         Completely agree. I don't see them together as our best combination. I like the balance of one of them with ESR (safe passer, carries well, runs in box and scores) with a creator like Andreas.
