That's how averages work. Some are higher, some lower, etc. In the ranges you are talking about or lower we have Bassey, Muniz, Sess, all three excellent young players, etc. etc. Plus we clearly have the belief we can find value in overlooked older players like Lukic, Palhinha. Or are we going down the whole, all good signings are Marco, all bad ones the clubs silliness again? - Problem is it’s above average price, above average wages, above average age, it was a poor signing given all the circumstances and because everything now needs to be through prism of PSR. However it’s done now, conversation has been done, errors are made, just trust we won’t make further big errors this summer.   - I am fairly certain that those two were not "above average prices" or "above average wages" for players of their experience and background. One of them was not "above average age". What you are saying, I think, is that we should be trying to buy at below-market rates. I believe we are doing that finding value in older cast-offs. Fair enough to disagree with that strategy. But to go back to the initial point I was agreeing with, I believe we paid average prices across the board with those two.     - Anderson isn’t a cast off, we just offered him loads of money to come and a very large fee for someone of his age. I can’t recall any mid table prem team paying 30m for a CB ever, they’re our two highest transfer fees ever paid. We offered too much for Anderson, only reason palace sold to a direct rival. ESR is slightly different given his potential and age, too early to judge that transfer.       - I didn't say either was. I said those two were likely bought for AVERAGE prices and wages! Think that was made pretty clear. After that I'm saying that we are looking for players at below-market prices, just not in the bucket you want us to be looking.         I'm with you here - average across all premier league clubs? Maybe - but 7 or 8 of those are out of our stratosphere spendwise. Average for us/similar size clubs?
